I can't discuss she does put the emotion today and still has the passion, but I can't see where she didn't put as much emotion years ago as today, in such outstanding live performances as the 1994 Olympia concerts.

And don't even want to say where is that "emotion" in those hundreds of copied, worn out performances of BYLM, RDMH and MHWGO, when it's plain obvious she's bored to death of singing the song as she even changes the lyrics or intentionally forgets them... When the "robot" Céline takes over... Sorry maybe I'm a minority here but I'd rather have more technique and less "emotion" then

i prefer emotions, but to each his own. And that's why i am much more into her french repertoire, even if i like parts of her english one as well, just not the same songs that many prefer.

I might be opening up a can of worms here but this magazine article, well, many others that mention the subject of her being a "working" mom strikes a nerve this morning. It says she's a working mom and she does everything for her kids, well don't the majority moms do that? As for her being a "working" mom.....um....yeah she works but has so much help. Ex. her sister living with her and bringing the twins to her when they needed feeding so she could get proper rest. I'm sure other moms didn't have that luxury. Working 70 days of the year, is that working? (Yes I know she does other things outside of Vegas.)

My mother was a single mom to two children, worked two jobs at times. She always provided for my sister and I the best she could. My mom was a working mom! I'm a working mom!

Some may see this post as jealousy on my part and yes, to some extent I would agree but I find it a disservice to the majority of hard working moms out there.

Ok that had been eating at me for a while, got that off my chest. whew....

Yeah, I totally hear what you're saying. It annoys me and it doesn't annoy me at the same time, if that makes any sense.

On the one hand, she has an INSANE amount of help. Far more than most mothers, working or not, could dream of. She doesn't have to do *any* of the routine chores that most people have to deal with day-in and day-out -- laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, whatever. She has high-quality in-home childcare, tailored to her schedule.. She can take months-long vacations, take a year-plus off entirely when her husband got sick (not that I begrudge her a minute of that, but for the vast majority of people, that's just not an option if they want to keep a roof over their head). And sometimes she acknowledges how lucky she is to have this and how rare it is -- but, having been a millionaire since she was like 16, I don't think she really understands or appreciates that piece of it much of the time.

And she definitely has her totally out-of-touch moments. there was one talk show when LMBTL came out, where the female hostess was saying that she was thinking about having another baby, but wasn't sure if she could handle it all again, and saying something about carrying the car seat (I don't remember exactly, but it was something really routine like a car seat). And Celine was like, "Oh, just hire someone to handle the car seat." That was SUCH a cringeworthy moment -- 99% of people can't afford to just hire people to take care of everyday stuff like that.

So yes, it annoys me when she's presented as an ordinary working mom, because in so many ways, she's not. But at the same time, I do think she faces a lot of the same emotional battles that lots of women today deal with -- being torn between wanting to be successful and move forward in a career, and wanting to spend time with her kids and be a fully present mother. And I think a lot of people relate to that, and it's sort of part of her image, so I get why it's talked about so much. But, yeah, it's annoying.

Yes I understand what you are saying about it. Maybe I just didn't get enough sleep Friday night but that article just set me off. The "just hire someone" comment was the Billy Bush and Kat, I don't recall her last name, interview and yes, totally out of touch with normalcy. I was like, 'she did not just say that!' :wtf: So yes for her just a normal part of life.

I would like to make an addendum to my post though and say that it is usually the media playing this angle and not really Celine.

Does anyone have the photo of Céline that was taken at the meet and greet with Steve Aoki? I can't seem to find it. I only can find the one of the two of them together.. Thanks in advance!

Is it this one? ;) 17aa2c2c9d6c1293a441f01dcd4d27cd.jpg

That moment after an 18h day shift, when you decide between dinner with your colleagues or buying a last minute ticket to the Broadway Cats musical...remembering Celine's unique & brilliant performance of Memories, while rushing down the NY streets...tempted by a pizza place I passed by, I stepped in for a take-away slice, only to hear an old radio playing Celine's ABM! When the stars align and we do notice...

I just saw an advertisement for the Billboard Music Awards on May 21st. I can't believe it's time for them already! This last year certainly flew by.

Phihi, that sounds like my flight attendant colleagues' monthly whining :)

Which just makes me want to relive this glorious moment.

I will never get tired of seeing her and RC together on that stage. Such poise and grace all around.

Whoever came up with this idea was on point. This clearly meant much more to her than any other legend / A-lister possibly could. Such great live TV!

It was incredible, and seems like it was only 2 months ago.

The radio station my coworker and I listen to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week played 4 different Celine songs today. They never did this before and it was such a pleasant surprise. Sometimes they would only play 1 song or none at all.

I hope they keep this Celine love on this station. I still hate that they prefer to play Ariana's BATB version over Celine's tho'.

I think because Ariana's version of BATB is more radio friendly than Celine's HDAMLF

They can't really play HDAMLF as it's not officially been released as a single...

I was referring to Celine and Peabo's version of BATB version over Ariana and John's. The new version just makes me cringe everytime I hear it.

I heard it yesterday, too, but didn't realize why.

I heard That's The Way It Is in Walmart today. I've actually been hearing that song in stores a few times lately. I always can't help but smile whenever it happens. :-D

Me too! Every time I hear it I have a little glimmer of hope for her radio future for this English album!

I usually cook a different dessert each Sunday afternoon but I've decided to insert a bit of Céline this week :P

I was adding Spanish subtitles to a French interview she did back in 1994 for my YouTube channel and she started to talk about traditional Quebec food, so it gave me an idea: I'll try my version of a poutine, I'll keep you guys informed on how it results

Really random, but we were talking about divorce today at work and all of a sudden I started wondering: How come Céline & René were able to get married in church, as René had been married before? Thought that wasn't possible as a Catholic? Or did he not marry before the Church the first two times? Does anyone know?

Money talks...especially to the Catholic Church.

I remember reading something like one of his marriages wasn't in a church, which makes it almost not count in the eyes of the church, and the other one, he had to apply for an annulment, once they learned he couldn't remarry I'm a church. It was done pretty swiftly, which would suggest that his ex-wife was happy to go along with whatever he put down on the paperwork (his first wife I think). There are many different grounds for an annulment, so who knows what he wrote to sway the paper work but he got it, making him able to marry Céline in a catholic church.
