Yesterday, my mom died at the age of 70 from stage 4 lung cancer. Her favorite Celine song was "To Love You More." Please listen to the song in her honor. It would mean the world to me. Thank you, all.

Haha, "the honor" indeed.

She did perform for Clinton's inauguration in 1993, so it's certainly not unheard of for a Canadian to do so -

In any case, while I'm glad she's generally staying mum on politics, I think her family's post in response to The Red Heads posting that photo with Trump the day after the election told you everything you needed to know...

(And for those who missed it, it read - "La Famille Dion Bonjour The Red Heads, nous tenions à informer que nous ne partageons absolument pas les idéologies politiques suivantes. Nous n'en dirons davantage. Et nous vous remercions de bien vouloir parler en votre nom, et non celui de notre sœur. Avec toute notre admiration et notre respect ! - Équipe La Famille Dion ")

If anyone has a screenshot of the Trump thing I would be so grateful if you could send it my way! I wanna make a collection of the various admirable things Celine does :)

Will Celine perform in Oscars 2017?

What?

Your questions always puzzle me :P

Will Céline perform in Oscars?

Will Céline sing with Lady Gaga?

Will Céline Dion fly one day while singing her shopping list from 797 meters from the ground and then take a selfie with a flying elephant?

:whee: :whee: :whee:

Sorry for the off-topic question, but I marked the option "mark this forum read" on the top of the forum, how can I undo this? Somehow I am unable to untick that box and now I can't see what threads are updated and what aren't

I randomly came across a magazine in Montreal called Gay Globe and apparently Celine has been partnered with them for some time?

http://gayglobe.us/

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_Globe_Magazine

The wikipedia for the magazine has a blurb that translates to:

"In September 2016, Gay Globe began its 15th year of partnership with Celine Dion which supports the publication of materials related to the prevention and treatment of HIV / AIDS in the magazine."

I'd never heard this and did not find anything when searching for this on the forum!

There's a documentary called "Céline & Rene: La Vie Sans Lui" airing January 17! I wonder if it will be anything new or just a mountage of the moments they shared over the years?

Not Celine related. Why did Shania go blonde? She doesn't look natural as a blonde. Just wondering. Ok, back to Celine stuff.... :giggle:
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

Top 10 Quebec pop-culture stories of 2016

7. René Angélil dies.

Thousands of people lined up outside Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal in freezing January temperatures to pay tribute to the man who masterminded the Céline Dion success story. Normally, fans don’t even know who the artist’s manager is, but Angélil was almost as famous here in Quebec as his pop-star wife. And with good reason – I still remember way back in 1990 when he told me this young woman who could barely speak English was going to become a huge international singing sensation. It seemed like empty hyperbole and it turned out to be absolutely true, and much of the credit for that has to go to Angélil’s uncanny knack for making the right deal at the right time.

1. Le retour de Céline.

La reine returned to Montreal for her first concerts here in seven years, headlining 10 nights at the Bell Centre, along with another five at Centre Vidéotron in Quebec City and two in Trois-Rivières. It was a bittersweet homecoming for Dion, her first shows here since the death of her husband/manager René Angélil and, unsurprisingly, Dion shed many tears on opening night at the Bell Centre in late July. But I was even more impressed by the half-hour conversation I had with her a few days earlier, with Dion speaking her mind in remarkably candid fashion. It is clear she has become her own woman. She has shown much courage and determination as she manages to balance the demands of pop stardom and her even more important role as the single mother of three boys who’ve just lost their father.

I tweeted the video of Celine upset on Larry King during Hurricane Katrina and it's gone viral on twitter a little bit. Celine stuff doesn't usually spread very far on twitter so I was pretty excited haha. Lots of people had never seen this and are quoting it and saying wonderful things about her :) I always felt this moment was under appreciated. https://twitter.com/pqtme/status/814509100449021952

(not trying to self promo btw hahaha)

Nice! Good to see she's finally getting some lover for this.

It always bothered me how she got ridiculed over that appearance. It was such a sincere, totally honest reaction.

I've always loved Mary Gaitskill's essay about this - http://www.slate.com..._gaitskill.html

"Her appearance on Larry King, however, did make an impression; it struck me as absolutely sincere and sane. That thousands would actually spend time watching this interview so they could jeer at it, jeering especially that Dion (a singer!) had the nerve to sing a song after her speech, seemed not merely cynical but neurotically detached from reality: Dion's response wasn't only moral, it showed a sort of biologically based empathy that understands the physical vulnerability of humans in the world. Newsflash: Real humans are connected with one another whether they like it or not. They are awkward and dumb and wave their arms around if they get upset enough; real humans all have personal touchstones that are “off the map” because there is no map. We are so maplessly, ridiculously uncool that whole cultures and subcultures, whole personalities even, have been built to hide our ridiculousness from ourselves. These structures are sometimes very elegant and a lot of fun, and fun to talk about, too. But our ridiculous vulnerability is perhaps the most authentic thing about us, and we scorn it at our peril—yet scorn it we do."

Yeah my mentions for the past 24 hours have been replies of people saying how she's an angel and they'd never seen it! Lots of outrage over the fact that she had been made fun of also. I hope the criticism she received at the time doesn't put her off from speaking like this in the future. Lots of people have tagged her twitter sending love so hopefully it gets back to her that people are finally appreciating this. Analytics on twitter say 676,000 people have seen it! Not bad! I really thought that just the few Celine fans that follow me would re-tweet it xD

Thanks for the link to the essay!

Oh wow, those are impressive stats.

Must have been a very socio-politically appropriate time to tweet this.

12k likes?! 6.5k retweets?! And this time, nobody's jeering. Just look at all the love she's getting in these retweets -

So glad she's finally getting long-overdue recognition here.

Hey everyone! Somebody brought to my attention an interview of Celine at InStyle magazine in 2002. Does anyone have any idea where can I read that?

Many thanks in advance!

do you mean 'style' magazine in the uk as part of a newspaper or 'instyle'?
