Current Oscar rules only allow 2 songs per film to be nominated. So it's probably gonna be HDAMLF and Evermore. Although i think Days in the Sun is also deserving of a nomination.

Sorry to say it but the new song is exactly what I expected. I'm not impressed. Her voice sounds somehow nasal to me, I find the lyrics and the melody...maybe not cheesy but banal. Simply my own opinion.

 

or in short... so disney?

Yeah, well, we've talked about this before. Not the peak of Tim Rice's lyrical work (Jesus Christ Superstar will always be that for me). He's done better. But he's also done worse (ahem, the English version of Ziggy...)

look on YouTube all those crying girls reaction videos for seeing the batb 2017 video :-S And when I see Ariana with her trembling mouth in the video I cringe..yikes

I saw the song "Belle" has twice the views of Céline's song.

 

Still,I hope Disney decides to shoot a music video!

As for the accent, well maybe the Disney people asked Céline to keep her accent to honor the French characters? :-D

This is just too good for Disney not to use it as a promotional tool!!!! I think (or hope) they will release Céline's song (with a beautiful video) the same day they release the movie. Cross my fingers and yours!

I'd love to see a video with Céline looking as a Disney princess in a ballroom... :w00t:

It's growing on me too. It's not the best next single but never forget it's a Disney song, and for that purpose, she delivers again at her best :wub: :wub: :wub:

 

Also the fact that we're reliving this pivotal event of her career in 1991 again in 2017 it's a very sweet moment. I was only 5 when the movie came out and I remember playing the soundtrack on a cassette my cousin recorded for me all day long, and also collecting the sticker album of the movie in the school... Sweet memories ^_^

 

I also have a Whatsapp group of Spanish fans, some of them are only between 16-20 y.o. and it's amazing they're discovering Beauty and the Beast now thanks to this second life they gave to the movie, and somehow they're getting an idea of how big was Céline's name in the industry back in the 90's :blush: ^_^

Thanks for all of the links. I have been listening to this since yesterday. I like it very much , but I will agree that I can hear her accent in this and it usually doesn't seem this strong in her English songs. Perhaps, she is very comfortable or perhaps the producers didn't insist that she try more to suppress it. I don't think it detracts from the vocal quality or the beauty of the song, but I do like to understand all of the words without referring to the lyrics.

 

Still very happy, so I don't like to quibble!

I have to be honest. I'm not really feeling this song and for a few reasons. I know it's a Disney vehicle and all that but I think the lyrics are cloyingly bad and they sound clunky. It so middle of the road I hope it stays there and doesn't make it on to an album where it will only stand out for being incongruous with the rest of the material.

Celine's voice sounds pretty great but the way she pronounces and phrases some of the words is jarring. I wouldn't have a problem if she always did this but she didn't. It's new and I just cant understand why it's happening now.

 

I didn't expect much from the song when I heard the demo. It's not a pop song, it's not a pop ballad or power ballad. It's a musical theatre song. I'm glad for all of you who do love it, and there seem to be a whole lot but I'm just not feeling it. Who knows? Maybe I will "get it!" in a few months or years. I don't think I will though.
