Céline Dion Live 2017 (tour) - Official Topic

Well, folks, Celine made it very clear (again) tonight her English career is just a job for money. "Artistically", she only cares about her French material.

She is an entertainer; a performer. An artist she is not. I will stand by that statement until she shows otherwise.

You are so right!

Celine needs to be more creative! And by ''creative'' I guess we both mean spending time on Twitter, creating imaginary set-lists nobody cares about, and playing PokemonGo. :)

Wow the nerves some of you!! To actually tweet about being pissed off, and adding #CélineFail is so childish.

If you had been there you would enjoy the show no matter what. And not everyone knows some songs were cut from the night before. Enough with the silly tantrums!!

The first show is a live test and then it gets tweaked. And obviously the show was running too long at around 2:20 hrs.

In some cities shows have to end at a certain time (before public transportation stops) so who knows what the reasons are...

I wish she would cut TC and LCMM instead of THLAL and Misled but that doesn't make Céline any less of an artist.

Singing over 24 demanding songs live (unlike many "singers" out there!!) is artistry to me.

Show some #CélineLove  and drop the #CélineHate.

The hashtag was "#Fail", not "#CélineFail." If you're going to quote me, quote me correctly.

As for the rest of your post, a person can enjoy a show, but still be disappointed and pissed off when certain songs aren't included, especially if they had been in prior concerts.

Then why continue being a fan? If you're so completely disappointed, then relish in what you love about her and leave everything else to the wayside.

A fan does not have to just lap up everything a singer releases. They can be annoyed, angry, saddened, etc. by some of the choices a singer does. That is the difference between making a human fan a human and not a robot. Furthermore, I believe I made it VERY clear in past posts and tweets how happy I was that "Love Is All We Need," "Refuse To Dance," "The Colour Of My Love" and "That's The Way It Is" were included. So, don't act like and try to imply I'm fed up and pissed off at the entire show, and all of Celine's career.

I agree, but if it anyone's fault it's Celine's. LCMM and RDMH weren't hits, Celine made people like them by Performing them for a million years straight yet she doesn't do that for other non hits, if she performed MISLED or THLAL for a thousand years straight people would love and respond to them too lol

This 100%!

people are tweeting complaints to RC #cringe

That is horrible. Even I, the horrible person some on here try to make me out to be, wouldn't do that Now THAT is crossing a line. You contact the singer and/or management themselves. You NEVER go after their children. Good God.

You are so right!

Celine needs to be more creative! And by ''creative'' I guess we both mean spending time on Twitter, creating imaginary set-lists nobody cares about, and playing PokemonGo. :)

First of all, I'm not a singer. Second of all, there are plenty of people who do care about my Pokemon GO posts, as well as my setlists and set design posts. If they didn't, I wouldn't have over 6,000 followers. (The same goes for my other social media accounts, too.) If people want to take the time to go through my Twitter account, they'll see I have followers who aren't fake, followers who are verified, and followers who are well-known. Plus, I have interactions with influential people in "the industry" on a consistent enough basis that shows my tweeting isn't just a fluke. So, apparently I must be doing something right with my account to be keeping those accounts still following me and interacting with me.

I have just watched the video of the show again. All I have to say is Bravo Celine! I find that a singer that performs 24 demanding songs live and well is a hell of a singer! She may have cut songs for many reasons , and of course people will have opinions as to why and which songs should be cut. Well in my modest opinion I believe that she knows what she is doing, as she says , she doesnt have a hit, she has an incredible career that speaks for itself. She is able to perform all over the world in sold out venues, her Vegas show is an incredible success, and she has every award on the planet ! Based on all of this, she can choose whatever damn song she wants to sing, We, as fans, should support her and be very very grateful that she still finds passion in doing this,( we all know that she can and could have stopped a long time ago) and one more thing we should be very proud that she is not only a great singer but an incredible role model. Once again thank you and bravo Celine for an amazing concert !

There is a vast difference between supporting a singer, but not supporting every choice they make, to that of flat out not supporting a singer at all. Again, a person shouldn't have to just lap up everything a singer pumps out in order to be called a "fan" or a "true fan".

I usually try not to complain about setlists but my god why did they cut ML, THLAL, AND Misled?!! I am fine with IYA but why didn't they cut like LCMM/RDMH? I mean like come on. She had that fresh to do. But maybe, like others said, this was in purpose because they wanted to film the first one and see the reactions to decide what to keep. And also, I wonder if the outfits changed because of that too. I am on the fence about the second one, the bathing suit. It's very interesting but she makes it work! And the whole thing about the walk in titanic dress... I have no words :giggle:

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

This. I'm not pissed songs were cut. I'm pissed about which ones were axed. The same uncreative patterns are creeping back in. I really won't be all that surprised if "Love Is All We Need" and "Refuse To Dance" get removed.

I really don't like "Loved Me Back To Live" singing in Live because it sounds boring when you lower the key. That's why it's best for this song is the studio version to sound alive. "Misled and Treat Her Like A Lady" is amazing. But when you sing uptempo songs she should be energetic as well.

Maybe they're testing it. Let's wait for the next show if they will replace or add some songs again.

this is what Celine would do, she is very polite

giphy.gif

:sofunny: :sofunny:

Or, like when she dismissed that reporter in the BATB premiere, she would hold his hands, kindly stare at him and go like ''Sir, I hope you know to whom you are talking to.'' :P

As clear as water. How did My Love become a pivotal and emotional moment of the TCWT? When the song wasn't even a single and hadn't been promoted before? Answer: because Céline pushed hard for it and gave it a chance to become something. Same as I surrender!

But as long as she doesn't believe more in her own songs, those which are "unknown", there's not much to do .

The version on One Heart is the same as the version released with the ANDHC limited edition album. I mean, there's only one version of that song :P

ARE YOU FÜCKÏNG KIDDING ME ABOUT "MY LOVE"?!?!? DID YOU EVEN COMPREHEND WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHILE WATCHING THE DAMNED "MAKING OF" THE RECORDING?!?!? How much that song MEANS to her is how that song was a "picotal moment" of her last tour. It was a song that told BOTH sides of her professional relationship with Rene, mixing with their personal. To be so ignorant to that is EXTREMELY selfish, and I'm VERY sorry you spent your money to travel and see her on this tour.

You discussed artistry which means creativity. So talk to me about creativity. What is it that you are doing or that you know which puts you in the position to REPEATEDLY doubt the degree to which Celine is an artist. On which basis do you post your condescending thoughts online? Have you worked more than Celine? Have you dedicated yourself to any form of art more than she has done? Do you think posting imaginary set-lists takes more skill than to create a real set-list and go on tour with it?

Key word: ''repeatedly''. Because I could take a criticism about Celine from anyone at any time. But it is the persistence of your comments which makes me react and essentially wonder... has this man taken the time to have a look at himself before going online to judge Celine Dion the way he does?

Keep in mind... in real life nobody would take that kind of attitude unless you had the skills I am asking about. Can you even imagine sitting next to Celine and telling her she is not an artist? She would dismiss you in seconds. The first normal reaction is ''Who are you to say so?''. Let's be real here, please!

Oh, for the love of God. "Artistry" is subjective, first and foremost. While I don't view her an artist, someone else may. It takes a moron to not realize that.

"Artistry" to me is far more than selling out arenas, selling millions of albums, etc. It is about revealing who you are through your medium in your own way. Not relying on others to do the work for you (eg. writers, covering others'songs, etc.). It is showing the world your craft, regardless what the outcome may be.

There are artists in all sorts of fields who never become famous, yet they are leaps and bounds more artistic than Celine has ever shown. With that said, all artists do not great entertainers make. As such, all entertainers do not great artists make. If you're really lucky, you are both. Madonna, The Beatles and Billy Joel come to mind as achieving both sides of the spectrum.

As for me personally? I have released my art to the world. I am doing my own thing. Am I as famous as Celine? No. However, that doesn't mean I'm not an artist.

And regarding your hypothetical scenario about Celine and me having a conversation? I think she'd want to know why I feel the way I do before getting defensive. Especially if having an intimate one-on-one conversation. I highly doubt she would be so dismissive as you suggest. She isn't rude like that from everything I've seen and heard about her.

And on that note, I'm off to bed. Goodnight.

See céline. Look what happened to people here they are now fighting because of the cut songs.

The 1st and 2nd show the audience are dead in some songs. Maybe they are shocked with the uptempo songs. Maybe they expect more ballads.

I know that artistry is subjective which is why I asked about your own perspective. I also know it is not correlated to fame, which is why I talked about creativity and dedication.

''Doing my own thing'' is a very vague reply. And I fail to understand how it gives you the right to go out there and repeatedly post these condescending remarks about a singer who has basically dedicated much of her childhood and her entire adult life ''doing her thing''.

They do know he is only a 16 year old boy don't they?!! I often get the impression that people forget that. We certainly have not right to harass him online or in person for that matter.

I still don't understand why she cut those two songs if she had to cut songs. She cut MISLED and TREAT HER LIKE A LADY, I don't think many people miss the cut of MY LOVE. I do think that IF she had to cut two songs from the medley those were the two to go but man they could've have at least given us full versions of REFUSE TO DANCE and LOVE IS ALL WE NEED TO make up for it.

Also think that TAKING CHANCES and LOVED ME BACK TO LIFE don't really work well live and in my opinion they never have, they could've replaced those two songs with A NEW DAY HAS COME and STAND BY YOUR SIDE, I'm sure they would be better vocally.

"My Love" will be sorely missed, by many.

LCMM in the US made top 40 on the hot 100, Top 10 on Adult Contmporary, and Top 5 on dance. It may not have been a mega hi, but it's an ear worm. People know it when they hear it.

What Celine loves is something Javito usually disregards.

Celine decides to perform in Vegas and she loves it. Javito says Rene forced her.

Celine insists in performing there because she loves it. Javito calls the place a jail.

Celine picks song she loves to perform on tour. Javito says the selection makes no sense because the songs had their moments in the past.

No surprise to me that he thinks My Love was a pivotal and emotional moment ''because Celine pushed hard for it''. To say ''because Celine loved it'' seems a bit far-fetched.

As if this would be the first time you were to complain about a set list, or performance. This has been a constant from you since I have joined this forum. Don't pretend that you have some newfound disappointment. You are HABITUALLY complaining about Celine's career. "WAAAAHHHHHH!!! I can't watch this YouTube AUDIO video (even though you ALREADY OWN THE SONG). "WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! She's not singing the song I want her to! These, among the wretched things you tweet to her team about your own dislikes. Calling not only Celine out, but specific people on her team. You are despicable in that sense. Who are you? Does anyone even know you? Are you contracted with a company that even gives a flying shít about your opinion of Celine Dion's career? I would say no. So, until you're being paid to make the decision on "what's right" for Celine's career, your words have no merit. Furthermore, your dedication as a fan is about as low as Donald Trump's approval rating as President.
