Here's the interview Céline did with Robin Leach. I have to say, I do actually like it. Usually I don't like robin, but I'm glad he shut up and let Céline do most of the talking!! (On paper)

I do too!! I am so shocked he wrote it like she said it. I was honestly expecting a chopped up article pieced together the way he usually writes. But I guess everyone can change!

wanted to cancel A New Day, because of RC.

But I thought Rene told Celine that they couldn't cancel the show, because it was to much money and people involved.

So Celine did the show. (She said that in the Quebec part of the A New Day DVD.)

Yeah I think she means René told her to give it a go but if it's not working and she's really unhappy they'll walk away from the contract, end it early.

There's many ways she could refresh the show's setlist, but my feeling is that she was very used to the way René handled her repertoire for live shows that now she's slowly becoming more in charge of it. The Summer Tour was the perfect example of that emancipation as an artist that started twenty years ago when she decided to re-record the song Falling Into You with new arrangements.

 

I think she wants to keep the (boring) essence of her current Vegas show to have a confort zone. Don't forget she'll go on tour again next year and will hopefully surprise the fans again with some obscure material, this time in English. She likes stability, so it wouldn't surprise me that she wants to keep the Vegas show as stable and regular as posible.

 

Just my opinion.

In the book My story, my dream she told the story about the re-recording of FIY, because she didn't like the old arrangement.

So the CD version must be the new one, we never heard the old version.

It just makes no sense lol. The arrangement is identical to the original artist's version... unless Céline meant that she needed to re-record the vocals or something... or maybe the first version was totally different and she wanted to go back to the original arrangement?

"I was not satisfied with the first recording we made with the song Falling into you, Celine admits. This is a song with many nuances, with half-tones. I found the arrangements were too violent, my voice didn't flow enough. Everybody, however, the technicians, the authors, even David and Rene, seemed satisfied. I said nothing. But Rene felt that I wasn't happy... He asked me what was wrong. I explained it to him. He seemed surprised. Then I hummed him Falling into you describing after every time the arrangements which I was imagining. He quickly agreed with me. He seemed amazed, as if he just discovered something... I called the director and the engineer to explain how I was feeling my song, what kind of changes. They all agreed and were happy, they said it to me... This song marked a step of my emancipation as an artist... I was becoming a mature, grown-up, autonomous artist... So we came back in studio and we recorded Falling into you again. It never became a big song for the stage; it is too sweet, too subtle to move a crowd. But it is, in my opinion, one of the thrillest song on the album Falling Into You. And I love the lyrics."

Maybe she just means that the first take she recorded was exactly as Marie Claire D'Ubaldo's version, which is in Spanish and her cadence with the words is slightly different. And then Céline maybe didn't like to copy Marie Claire's version exactly as she did it and she found a different way to sing it, which is what we have now.

 

Honestly I don't know what she wanted to say with the arrangements first and after. Because as you say, the music and arrangements in both Céline's and Marie Claire's versions are identical.

Wrong my love...

It is perfect for the stage!!

 

FIY would definitely work in lv, but I felt it got a bit lost in the big arenas etc. Think this would sound amazing with the orchestra 💕

Btw, I walked by the store and they have some of the merch from the summer tour, and they're selling EUS. Didn't go in yet but will check it out and let you all know!!

Ok but if you can get a fast word in please try. Cause you can't get a more direct answer then from Celine herself. I did read that even though she's supposed to be fast with these usually she's quite gracious and tries to listen to everyone. From the people I've spoken to it's usually them who freeze up and say nothing. Don't think I've ever read Celine being the one to rush the meet and greet.

 

P.S. sorry for messaging you too but I wanted to make sure you saw the message :) Anyways you know and I know you'll try your best so please do enjoy and again very happy for you.
