It's natural it changes, and sometimes I like this new voice.

 

But damn I really do miss that 90's voice! :wub:

 

 

From 2006 up to date, her voice changed most noticeably, almost year after year, and it matured and acquired a lower, deep tone. I assume that's normal with age, but she seriously needs to slow down and reduce the number of shows she gives each year.

IMO it was 1992, 1995, 1998 (LTAL tour with deeper tone), 2002, 2011/2012 and 2013 European Tour were the highlights of her career.

 

2011 Celine had vocals i would give my life for her to have again.

 

Just watch Terre from Nov 25 2013 and then watch Terre from Un Seule Fois and you will understand that Celines voice changes dramatically. from the mess that was USF to the 2013 tour. Honestly its insane

 

2002 was speechless

 

1995 LAP IMO her best vocal conditiom ever apart from March 20th 2011 and L'Olympia

During the French tour in 95, wasn’t she having vocal trouble though?? Seem to remember her having injections so she could sing because everything was arranged for the two concerts to be filmed, for LAP. Or maybe I dreamt it 😂

I know she had issues but i never remember injections. That was when she first lost her voice Early on and she was on steriods wasnt it ?

Don’t know about the steroids. Think it was late 80’s when she first lost it. Then started training properly.

It’s really painful to hear, I hope she will be able to do what she did last summer, for me there is no sign of a big improvement.

It’s not going to improve over night, she’s only done a few shows so far. Suppose the main point really is , she is improving.

How many more shows has she got left for this run?

It’s really painful to hear, I hope she will be able to do what she did last summer, for me there is no sign of a big improvement.

 

 

You must be deaf if you cant hear the massive improvement since the 22nd

No idea. Pretty bizarre. They’re usually announced Mon-Wed the first or second week of a leg. But the normal September/November slots are still completely open so they should be announced soon. Probably early next week at this point.

Awesome fingers crossed it’s next week. Thanks for the update!

She has a way of singing live lately that annoys me like crazy.

 

Maybe it's the recordings, but I can't explain myself in English.

It's like she is making a voice, instead of singing with her voice.

It's so obvious in Ashes, the way she pronounces words.

 

Anyway I can't really explain what it is that annoys me. But it's something she is doing the last year more and more

You mean like an accent? I get what you mean. I think it’s because she had to re adapt her singing style to deal with the ear troubles so she’s trying to figure it out. I still think she sounds just fab though!!!

I'm glad you notice this too. I'm not unbiased with that year because everyone here knows it's the year when she released my favourite English album, but it's not only because of that, she also had a voice that was incomparable to other years (let alone the years after then). In 2002 she had had the exact time to rest her voice long enough to do a comeback with her greatest and most powerful voice ever, and a vibrato that was only seen before in 1994 through 1996. Her voice was completely stable and without imperfections, clean and strong as few times before.

 

Just watch the World's Children's Day concert to see how amazing her vocals were that year. Or her live performances for the French TV, her live renditions of the ANDHC (remix) whose high notes were well demanding live, but she belted them without a problem, the Divas Las Vegas, or her live perfomances with the students in Italian Operazione Trionfo... No imperfections at all, and her belting was more powerful than ever.

I LIVED FOR the WCD performance. One of the best live versions of MHWGO ever. She also did some amazing performances of HYEBIL during that era.

Yes, it was in her bio - she had vocal trouble during one of the 1995 shows and the French audience sang with her and helped her. I think it was just one night though. Don't think she had injections then. I think the injection was during the 1990 tour when she lost her voice and they told her they could do injections but they would only work a couple of times at most and that's when she started to seriously protect her voice with training, not talking on days off etc

Between 1993-1996 her instrument was calibrated close to perfection. She was absolutely at the top of her vocal abilities for these 2 years, being the vocals of her live concerts even better than the studio recordings.

 

Then from 1997 to 2003 her voice remained stable and at the best of her possibilities, but she reached her maximum here.

 

In 2004 it was damaged and from then on it became nasal (due to the abusive and extreme conditions of her Vegas schedule).

There is something I'd like to say about the nasality. When I was younger, I thought it was normal that her voice changed because of her age and that's why it became a little weaker and more nasal in when she started Vegas in 2003. I am not a singer or anything, but I kinda find it easier to sing with my nose a lot vs with my chest... Like, I think Céline decided to try and sing softer and do things with her voice that wouldn't damage her vocal cords, so she put a lot of her voice in her "face" so she wouldn't exhaust herself 5 nights a week. WCD was in my book, the night at least for a recording on tv, the absolute best of her career ever. Never heard her so sharp or flawless, ever, point blank.

I agree. She looked amazing too. Tho i prefered the look of 2002 before that night the look of GBTSW music video! To me that was also her best look ever!

I second that WOW!!!

maybe she lost some other things but she has gained a l,ot as well. She did not do that in 2002. I prefer to concentrate on what she gained over what she could have lost.

 

And next time someone says she has missed some notes, say where so we can judge if your ears are not deceiving you. Some time , our brain decides before our ears, it hears what we hope good or bad.
