I should have never pasted this, i keep forgetting you guys dont know a thing about vocal pedagogy.

 

 

Basically. If she was vocally damaged, it would be raspy. Like weve seen in late 2016 when she sounded exhausted.

 

But, its shaky and instable. She didnt sing at all when she was off and the shakiness and instability proves this. When you dont sing or exercise or warm up at all and then one day start to belt out a song like think twice, you will sound horrid.

 

You need to exercise days in advance, do practice with a vocal coach and rehearse,rehearse,rehearse. That way your voice is warmed up and got its elasticity back

 

Like in the ANDHC era when she was recording the album she said she wasnt flexible or anything because she hadnt sang for MONTHS. So this is the same case, she hasnt sang for so long so the voice has lost its stamina and elasticity.

 

Shes not vocally damaged in any way, its pure lack of elasticity and lack of warm up.

 

Later in the show she gets progressively better at belting. Another sign that its just the fact that she hadnt warmed up or rehearsed properly leading to her voice caving in when she attempts those belts

 

Basically, all she needs it to warm up, practice, talk with her vocal coach and she will be right as rain by May 30th I guarantee it, Celine knows this herself

 

She needs to get back onto her regimen of vocal exercises, lessons, warmups, saline and humidity, etc.

I already think tonight will be better. She now knows she needs to warm up more and last night will have already warmed her up more. Plus, the first bit of the show is ENTIRELY playback, so then she does easy Paganini, Easy Recovering and then all of a sudden.... she has to go crazy on TT

Good point - she was in so much pain and could barely move but still gave great performances vocally during her back problems. Once she gets back into her routine and discipline things will fall back in line.

I did notice tho. If you playback the WHOLE show opener then do 3 easy songs and then all of a sudden have to belt MASSIVE notes its not going to help either. Notice tho after TT, it warmed her up and her next belts were way better

She knows herself better than anybody... And I still believe she loves to sing (when she feels comfortable, not last night) maybe that's one of the reasons she rushed out the stage after mhwgo.. She knows it wasn't her best concert but certainly the best she could pull out last night

I don't think she needs hours of lessons, she just needs to get back "on a program" so-to-speak. Needs someone to listen to her, help her warm up, adjust her technique. Remember, she also has been apparently singing with this ear condition for 18+ months. I'm sure she changed up her technique a bit due to it, and now it needs to be tweaked again.

Yeah, true. That's what I never understood about the show in terms of it being good for her voice and stamina. Go for sound check, warm up, get ready, take the stage, sing 30 seconds of "I Surrender" and then nothing again until one line of WDMHBN, and then nothing until Paganini. She pretty much goes close to 20 min without singing after the start of the show.

We know because she very clearly hasnt. If she had, the disastrous TT incident would never have happend. If she had warmed up properly, went to her coach, rehearsed properly and used her saline she would have sounded trecks better

However you were quite rude toward Celine with that post.

 

She’s obviously not confident with her vocals as of now with the recent surgery and in my mind this show indicates her ear isnt 100% either. Shes still recovering from that.

 

IDAN is an extremely energetic song so IMO when she dances its alot safer to lip it along with the fact that she isn’t confident vocal wise right now, it makes sense. I dont like playback but in this circumstance, I completely understand

 

Vocally, she is NOT ready for IDAN OR TT at all.

 

Hopefully however its like Mariah. When shes back after long breaks it takes her a while and in a few shows she has her voice back. Its due to lack of rehersals and practicing vocals as later in the show she was busting out massive mixed belts and at the end of Purple Rain she belted a sustained C#5 with a run before hand including a Eb5 which sounded MILES better than her earlier belts.

 

 

I think she was scared to rehearse as it could hurt the healing. But hopefully now she knows she has to warm up and vocal excersise before hand

Sorry if someone is offended. I don't need to explain or justify that i love celine but i also won't support every decision without onjectively thinking about whether it makes sense or not.

 

Using the words terrible decision and obvious playback and disappointed may sound like being rude, but in actuality it just further supports how embarrassing the situation is altogether. Embarrassing that a 15 year old playback gets dug out as a "new change"

 

For 9 years straight she averages about 70 shows a year. Aside from 2000, 2001, 2010. And unexpectedly 2014 she has been non stop performing since the beginning and its taking a toll. Celine and her priorities have changed over the years and i dont feel like her rigorous schedule has really decreased any at all. Wanting a change and acknlwledging celine isn't the same isnt meant to discredit her at all. She is human as we all are. I just don't see any signs of this pace slowing down and it's very concerning to me.

 

Im really not trying to upset anyone with my strong opinions. Sorry i know i have but i stick by them.

U have to remember the woman hasnt wore ear monitors in months and had surgery on her right ear fairly recently and to have something small and loud stuck in that ear will no doubt cause a little discomfort and may make her hearing a little funny in that ear for a few shows until she gets used to it again.

 

So being off key here and there is nothing for now!

Theres off key (which she was occasionally) and theres vocally unprepared. I guarantee tho the more she performs like with her monitor her voice will loosen back up

Yup, seeing her in 9 days... she has 5 shows between now and then. Can't wait to hear how she sounds on "Ashes" live in person after she's had some time to get comfortable with it.

I think when I was there in January (when the shows were canceled) there were no shirts with setlists anymore. In September when I went, they were no longer including the setlist insert int he program.
