After watching everything I could find on her return yesterday, I have to say that I am very happy. From the very start you could see that she was so nervous, well she said she was nervous and that she was having a hard time with that. It was her return after a long break, surgery, and it was the first time that she performed ashes., Considering all this I believe that she did a heck of a job. Was it her best show technically and vocally? Of course not for all the reasons mentioned up above. All I know is she is back , she is beautiful (I am not even going to get into how amazing she looked wearing the Vegas hockey jersey, I mean really she is 50! )and she beat her chest once again, showing me that she is strong and can overcome whatever life throws her way. Welcome back and Bravo

I said ages ago “she wont sound the same, she will be gritty”. I was told i was wrong, it wouldnt affect her voice at all, i was a hater, i didnt know what i was talking about but what happend ? Exactly what i said would happen

 

I just find it hilarious so many people are calling her voice “painful” but these are the same people who said they support her no matter what... hmm

 

Anyway, i honestly am just happy shes back and that and her health is ALL that matters

 

 

Ive noticed the whole night she was fighting with that ear peice, along with the fact that she went out of pitch a few times. Leading me to believe the ear isnt fully fixed

In my opinion, it's getting more and more dodgy to use lipsynch, as her live voice is so different than one the pre-recorded tracks. If you watch IDAN and TT, or Ashes and IS, even a non fan can notice the difference. Using a pre-recorded track is already a problem to me. But using a very obvious one is....

 

I agree. I can't believe they used the 2003 IDAN playback instead of the 2008 one for the Taking Chances tour CD and DVD. Even the ABM high note is starting to sound less and less believable which pains me to say, along with the ending of MHWGO. For playback tracks, I think they need to go into the recording studio and record new versions and not touch them in the editing booth. Like you said, even non-fans will start to hear the difference otherwise.

 

On a positive note, Ashes sounded good! Looking forward to future performances of it!

I don't even care about hockey. But hot damn, she looked good in that jersey! Can't believe she is 50 with those legs. I've really never seen her this nervous in a while. I think she sounded pretty good on Ashes last night and I know when she performs a new song it only gets better from the first time. I'm so glad to see her back again! I think when she gets back into things and gets rid of the nerves her voice will be on fire!

Wow so is the audio change of a 2003 vocal playback following a 2018 butchering of rdmh obvious or what.....i hate to be negative Nancy about a change because we all know how rare a change is but why can't they ever select songs she is comfortable singing live instead of insulting us with a filler. Its nothing but a filler. Its not a positive change at all. She did wonderful with this song on tour. What's up with this?!?!? I would take back HDAMLF in place of this still dusty old #ss playback tape idan.

the hockey team in Vegas is really a great story. It is their first year and they go in the finals for the cup. And her jersey is Marc-André fleury , a really positive guy fromn Québec who got there with a smile and decided to do his very best. His doing his best job in the series , the best for a goalie since about 25 years.

WOW. You call Tyler's post "rude"?! Your post is obnoxious and unnecessarily aggressive. People are allowed to have differing opinions and shouldn't be attacked. If this is how you are going to speak to people, maybe you should "get off this forum."

 

Yes IDAN is fun, but I do agree that it is a mistake to use a 2003 playback - or any playback for that matter, especially when the audience is right up against the stage. I hope that as she gets more comfortable being back and warmed up that she ditches the playback and slays the song the way she did last year on tour when she sang it 100% live every night.

If she wasn't ready for IDAN, thats fine - wait a few weeks to add it...afterall it hasn't been around in years so its not like we are missing anything if it were delayed. Its my opinion that adding it to just lip is in poor taste.

 

Personally the entire night for celine represents why i am ready for vegas to be over. Rushing back when obviously not ready bevause of this long never ending commitment. Everyone says she is not a machine. I agree....why has it been non stop shows for years....i would rather less way less shows. Pay more money and celine sing what she wants when she wands. Not just oblogated to return because cancelled so much and feels bad because dates are set a year in advance. If she did 20 and only 20 shows a year no more it would be better for her health and voice and the show would be more interesting IMO. No one in their 40s 50s tours and performs this regularly. Its starting to be a detriment at times.

However you were quite rude toward Celine with that post.

 

She’s obviously not confident with her vocals as of now with the recent surgery and in my mind this show indicates her ear isnt 100% either. Shes still recovering from that.

 

IDAN is an extremely energetic song so IMO when she dances its alot safer to lip it along with the fact that she isn’t confident vocal wise right now, it makes sense. I dont like playback but in this circumstance, I completely understand

 

Vocally, she is NOT ready for IDAN OR TT at all.

 

Hopefully however its like Mariah. When shes back after long breaks it takes her a while and in a few shows she has her voice back. Its due to lack of rehersals and practicing vocals as later in the show she was busting out massive mixed belts and at the end of Purple Rain she belted a sustained C#5 with a run before hand including a Eb5 which sounded MILES better than her earlier belts.

 

 

I think she was scared to rehearse as it could hurt the healing. But hopefully now she knows she has to warm up and vocal excersise before hand

I'm sure that Ashes , even though it was far from bad last night, will be better. She was nervous and not used to sing it. She will adjust and slay. She is her harshest critic. the live version is a bit different and we are not used to it too.
