Its not that easy to add all that bass live. Especially giving that her voice was a bit quiet it may drown her out

I'm sure that Ashes , even though it was far from bad last night, will be better. She was nervous and not used to sing it. She will adjust and slay. She is her harshest critic. the live version is a bit different and we are not used to it too.

 

I really wonder how many rehearsals they had for "Ashes." I'm sure that she practiced it to the track, and probably worked with Scott on it, but it's totally different singing it live with the full orchestra.

 

So, I'm home sick today from work with a fever, so the rest of this post might be a bit rambly, BUT, just a bit of analysis:

 

Also, and I could be completely misreading this, I wonder if there was some change to the overall sound system and monitors over the last few months that they were all experiencing for the first time tonight. Only reason I even bring this up, is because Kaven put something up on his Instagram story yesterday afternoon about being back and below he said "Going Stereo." Inear monitors can be either mono or stereo, and based on some research I've done, it looks like they provide a very distinctive different sound and have both pros and cons.

 

After re-watching a lot of videos from last night, it seems like Céline was hesitating the whole time. Even the parts of the show like the "I Surrender" opening that she's done hundreds of time, sounded like she was holding back. Almost like she was afraid to push through completely in fear that she was off-key. I wonder if it's because she was having trouble adjusting to her hearing after the surgery, coupled with a new inear experience. We know she's very superstitious - I mean, how many times did she switch back and forth between the corded and cordless mic? Haha.

 

Anyway, just a thought!

we don't know everything that goes on, it is not always perfect but i,m sure they do their best, Celine does at the very least. I think you are right , there was some hesitations and a lot of stress. And i go back to hockey, this is the reason Las Vegas and Marc-Andre Fleury( the goalie) are so good, They have nothing to lose. For Celine , it is different. My exact thoughts. She was constantly fidgeting with the inear so in my mind it wasnt just the ear condition that was causing her to go off key. But she definitely needs to warm back up as it sounds like shes just not sang at all, and when you go from not singing at all to trying to belt, the result is cracking, instability and shaky belts

the hockey team in Vegas is really a great story. It is their first year and they go in the finals for the cup. And her jersey is Marc-André fleury , a really positive guy fromn Québec who got there with a smile and decided to do his very best. His doing his best job in the series , the best for a goalie since about 25 years.

she could have made a easier setlist with softer songs instead of screaming her voice to destruction. That is how it sounds to me.. Build up with easier material. The audience still come to hear Celine. A New day has come for instance or another softer song..

I should have never pasted this, i keep forgetting you guys dont know a thing about vocal pedagogy.

 

 

Basically. If she was vocally damaged, it would be raspy. Like weve seen in late 2016 when she sounded exhausted.

 

But, its shaky and instable. She didnt sing at all when she was off and the shakiness and instability proves this. When you dont sing or exercise or warm up at all and then one day start to belt out a song like think twice, you will sound horrid.

 

You need to exercise days in advance, do practice with a vocal coach and rehearse,rehearse,rehearse. That way your voice is warmed up and got its elasticity back

 

Like in the ANDHC era when she was recording the album she said she wasnt flexible or anything because she hadnt sang for MONTHS. So this is the same case, she hasnt sang for so long so the voice has lost its stamina and elasticity.

 

Shes not vocally damaged in any way, its pure lack of elasticity and lack of warm up.

 

Later in the show she gets progressively better at belting. Another sign that its just the fact that she hadnt warmed up or rehearsed properly leading to her voice caving in when she attempts those belts

 

Basically, all she needs it to warm up, practice, talk with her vocal coach and she will be right as rain by May 30th I guarantee it, Celine knows this herself

yes my thought too but she cannot cancel her shows again because it does make audiences distract from her. Her show has to sell. Part of the deal she signed for. I feel bad for her but in all those months a new setlist could have been prepared as well. Singing such songs again and again is really demanding for her voice. And not to mention - the setlist needs some major changes.

Because i remember Madonna's concert last 2016.. The Bass is so loud that feels like my chest is going to explode but it didn't drown her out because her mic is also loud..

On "Ashes", even with the voice in a minor tone, it lacked more volume of the orchestra, it seemed that the voice and the instrumental part did not fit live, I missed the drums in the second part of the song, the orchestra had to play masi a little high, to give more energy to the presentation.

 

About "Think twice," I do not know what to think, whether it was because of her lack of rehearsals, or because she spent so much time without singing without rehearsing anything. Her voice has changed, I think she needs to get back to singing lessons and adapt to her "new" way of singing.

She was nervous yes of course she was, but nerves dont produce the worst ever performance of a song that she slayed whilst having spasms. sorry but this is pure lack of vocal practice on her part
