You got it there, Tim  If you can imagine it, if you can visualise it that precise and even write the whole speech about it (BRAVO, that made my day in this forum today!! :mdr: :lolwave:), why can't she or anybody from her huge team do it?

Happy New Year, for weak and for strong, for yellow and red ones, for Vegas fans and non-Vegas fans equally :goof: :bananadance:

Didn't she add TT just... 2 legs ago?

Yes, the leg before this current one. First performance was September 19... She also Did "I'm Your Angel" for 2 or 3 of the first shows back during that leg.

So why is all this "no change debate" about? lol

She added 2 songs this year HDAMLF and TT and dropped others... so isn't the show changing?

People want changes every leg...meaning every 12 shows 😂 big LOL

Of course never. Not that I ever had the least intention. Since the opening night in March 2011 I knew that show wasn't my cup of tea and that it totally reverted the image of a Céline concert and a show that she delivered until then. The show was the most anti Celine show she ever offered, with more covers than Céline songs. Luckily, that changed with the years, but still, that show is completely stagnated. She looks bored while singing, when not tired. You can see it on her face, you can feel it on the vocals. She's been singing the same damn program for 6 years now, and going for the 7th. Just her and a orchestra behind her. There's no evolution, no action. It's easy to please the casual traveller who stops by the Caesars's Palace after a long day of tourism, eating and casinos on the Vegas strip, and that's why the show is successful, it entertains and it accomplishes that. Vegas is for that purpose, but on an artistical point of view, this is totally wearing out her inner artist, her voice, and her passion to sing the songs.

Obviously I don't need to attend her Vegas show to change my mind or to have an opinion: I know more fans who had exactly the same thoughts as me before going and thought the same s***, they went, and their opinion was completely restated LOL! I knew I was right after seeing her on tour this year, and when I met more fans in London that also saw her in Vegas and they all said that seeing her in Vegas was s*** compared to this tour, I knew I had been thinking right in some way. A friend that attended in September after seeing her in London went to the point of even saying that they were bored and that Céline was not engaged with the public and the songs. Do I need more to restate what I think? I see it confirmed all the time. As I see many other fans that are easily pleased and also enjoy Vegas. Great for them!

But like I say, I don't need anybody's opinion to have mine. Once I've seen her on tour, and before that, I know what I want to see and what I am going to enjoy with more chances, and what doesn't appeal to me. It's like watching a preview, or a trailer from a movie. That needs to engage the audience to make them go and see the movie. I don't feel that when seeing the countless videos we have from Vegas. Like everyone else I suppose? I'm no different, but I'm vocal and passionate with my opinions for good (defending the music, songs and albums I love) and for worse (what I like less or I don't like at all).

You can have too much of a good thing. Many of us here thought by 2007 that it was enough with the first Vegas, many more were shocked when she announced she would come back in 2011... What can we say when she has kept a show the same for almost 7 years now? It's just too much.

You clearly do see what you want to see. You are making a lot of very long posts to that effect at the moment.

The only thing I would say though is that being so critical of something you have never bothered to actually go and see is unwise. The Vegas show is different to the shows on her tours but it still very much has a place and I have always enjoyed seeing it. Hopefully I will be off to Vegas again in 2018!

Las Vegas - The Modern Era

(Updated Numbers - Dec 2017)

Some interesting numbers in there - poor Olivia probably shouldn't be included but I opted to incorporate her numbers anyway due to the fact that a residency is a residency. In reality, Donnie & Marie's residency probably has grossed more than Olivia's but I haven't had chance to work through the (limited) figures we have for them yet.

  • What these lists really show is that as the average ticket prices in Las Vegas have increased, so to have the average gross figures, with Jennifer Lopez having (by far) the highest average gross per show figure (thanks to a huge average ticket price of $203.17).
  • Incredibly, Celine has maintained an average 97.0% sell-out rate for nearly 15 years across a combined 1,075 shows - unprecedented.
  • Both have Elton's residencies have stayed above the 99.0% mark but the average number of "bums in seats" has dropped from residency #1 to residency #2.
  • Of the big Vegas names, Bette Midler has the worst sell-out % and is the worst drawing Las Vegas headline act of the modern era, though her average gross figure is slightly ahead of Shania's thanks to a higher average ticket price and the fact that she offered, on average, more tickets per night.

The top 15 residencies of the modern era have grossed a combined $1,443,895,807 and have sold a combined 9,842,417 concert tickets.

Tonight, Britney Spears finishes her Las Vegas residency - she still has an extra 5 shows to add to her figures above but she will leave Las Vegas as the 2nd most successful female artist in Las Vegas history. She will have grossed around $136.25 million and she will have sold around 915,000 tickets. Of the modern era, only 4 artists have grossed over $100 million in Las Vegas - Britney Spears belongs in that elite company.

Las Vegas will miss her.

Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

Didn't she only reach 1000 last year? So no I don't think she'll be anywhere near the 2000 mark.

(I say only 1000, of course that's a massive achievement in itself).

True, but she could keep all the visuals the same for both shows.

Same way they did for TCWT just change the song but keep the dancers (DUAM for example)

Ah well, it's fun to dream. But there are parts of this show that could easily have an show A and show B part.

Jazz section, acoustic medley, uptempo medley.

Shows also have budgets. Each change costs money. Each new visual costs money. Each creation for a new lighting sequence costs money. Each new arrangement and rehearsals for songs costs money. Each new costume costs money. While it may be easy for us to look at a show and say that this song can go here, and she should wear something new there, or this visual needs something new...we are not the ones spending the money or doing the work.

Lol come March she’ll still have some 910 (ish) shows to do before she reaches the 2000 milestone!

Probably, I don't deny that. That's why I said I'm glad there are fans that are easily pleased and happy about this show, but at the same time, that doesn't take away the fact that 99% of fans here and on the countless CD fan groups are waiting for changes and for new song additions each time she comes back to resume the show. Only difference is that while others said it once or don't post in this forum, I'm just vocal and repetitive about it. But there are cents and cents of fans waiting for new songs or changes to be done on her Facebook, Instagram posts etc.

And yet most of them are still excited enough about it still to actually go. If you don't like the show in Vegas, go once then come back and post on here why.

And as for being easily pleased, yes I am a Celine Dion fan so any opportunity to see her live is very welcome. If I didn't enjoy the Vegas show that would be a bit odd wouldn't it. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't want some changes, but I would defy anyone, fan or not to see the Vegas show and not walk away having enjoyed it.

I’m hoping that the new English single is released around Friday the 19th, and that she performs it live that night, since I’ll be there. :P Edited by MrTim212

I don’t love the hair but with the short dress it kind of does work!

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

Yea, it’s not my favourite look of hers either...

That hairstyle ages her plain and simple. She could pull it off back in the 90s when she did it because her face was fuller and she was younger but she can't pull it off anymore. Her long hair parted to the side last year around February worked much better. She looked 15 years younger than last night.
