Céline being cool again

I think this is nothing but a TV Stunt orchestrated by Julie Snyder

Yeah, quite possibly.

Yeah, this is kinda cringe but part of me is like...well if there's ever a time to show exaggerated and unnecessary support to Celine is while she is seriously ill. (But seems it's just a publicity stunt pushed by Julie Snyder? That actually cheapens it more than if it were just from fans).

I wonder if Celine is aware with everything surrounding the RS list.

I think Céline needs to put out an announcement telling these extremists to stand down. 😂 Anybody would think it’s January 6th or something…

Stand down and stand by...

They should've done it yesterday lol (edit: I thought yesterday was the 6th)

One of them has a "we want a recount" sign 😭

“The protest appeared to be organized by a group of Dion fans who call themselves the Red Heads, with videos of them preparing posters appearing on the Instagram fan account @celinedionaddicts_official. Also featured in those videos was the French Canadian broadcaster Julie Snyder, who appeared outside our offices as well, holding a microphone for her own television show. (With that in mind, it wasn’t exactly clear the extent to which this whole thing was an organized stunt.)

“Woldenberg also asked Snyder about the choice to stage this protest on Jan. 6. (As it happened, there was another protest across the street from the RS offices at the New York Public Library, calling on Attorney General Eric Garland to indict those involved with the Jan. 6 insurrection).

“Yeah, it’s very important, the other protest, we believe in the other protest,” Snyder said.”

Cringe

I'm just glad to see many of the tweets that are supporting them even if just in a joking way. The red heads & Julie really trying to undo all the good publicity Celine got this week 🙄

This is one of the funniest

And many other "I'm there in spirit" or "as they should" tweets.

This is really embarassing. This will just give RS and her detractors the more reason to not take Celine (and us fans) seriously. Really bad. Just when we thought we had made this impression to non-fans of a solid united (and serious) group, this joke happens. Instead of taking the high road, Julie et al chose to make goofballs of themselves. Edited by marc-02

… of themselves and Céline’s entire fandom, given the publicity, despite it only being a small, fringe group, with an outsized megaphone. This is not helpful, it’s a hindrance.

“Julie Snyder, a TV personality from Montreal, is leading the demonstration and told our photog what protestors are demanding -- they want Celine recognized, AND an apology from RS.

The outlet is taking notice ... Rolling Stone editor Steven Pearl came outside to talk to the protestors, listening to their issues and clueing them in on how the list was formed.

Celine's fans even broke out into song, but uhhh ... something tells us they're not making the cut either.“

Until now, it still hurts to see her arguably biggest hit down at No. 6 just because of Sony's stupid decision to stop shipping singles so as not to hurt the sales of LTAL and the soundtrack. The song could have stayed 10 weeks at No. 1.

The nerve of that RS writer (intern), even trying to engage the fans on Twitter, trying (desperately) to sound all funny and sarcastic (250th).. duh.

This is sooo embarrassing.

Really no fan here could care if she is on the list or not.

It's those crazy ones without a life that have a hard week with this.

Loving the fact that like whole social media made fuss about it, loving the memes, the love for Celine.

But this? It's so embarrassing.

And Julie Snyder? Like she dissappeared when René stepped down as a manager, and suddenly she is pro Celine again?

… of themselves and Céline’s entire fandom, given the publicity, despite it only being a small, fringe group, with an outsized megaphone. This is not helpful, it’s a hindrance.

(Someone had already posted his earlier tweet on this, but I can't find the original post, so here it is below, along with thoughts from the New York Times critic who covers Celine & related topics (Aline, Titanique).

Carl's book is what got me back into Celine fandom after ~15 years away, so I'm always curious what he has to say on Celine-related topics.

The Julie connection is not lost on some (this is a journalist from Globe and Mail, Canada's "newspaper of record") -

I hope people don't go around thinking Celine somehow orchestrated this through Julie...

Julie seems so desperate to get back into Céline’s good graces.

I think she disappeared because her “in” was through Rene, not Céline. I suspect Céline sensed Julie was milking that connection for her own benefit & relevance.

Agreed - at least a lot of big music fans know the story behind why it wasn’t #1 longer.

Come on…. It’s a bit of fun and humour at best of the situation. Lighten up guys.
