Céline being cool again

I don’t know about Pride specifically, but I did hear the doc randomly mentioned “at the water cooler” at work and I generally get the sense that a lot of people who aren’t necessarily fans are watching it, or at least expressing desire to do so. It has definitely reached beyond her core fan base, partiality because of the morbid curiosity factor (after the crisis scene made the rounds), but also I think because of the unanimously positive critical response.

And from what I’m seeing on social media, 95%+ of the commentary is very positive and supportive, and more importantly I’ve now seen countless comments along the lines of “not a fan of her music but am now a fan of her/ have newfound respect/ etc”.

Honestly, what more can you ask for from a project like this? It’s broadened her fan base and I think far more people are going to be receptive to what she does next. After seeing this, nobody can dismiss her as being a one-dimensional singing machine. I think a lot of people realized there’s more depth there than they gave her credit for. And that, I think, can genuinely set the stage for exciting things to come.

Very true! Another sentiment I’ve heard/read in comments is how refreshing it is in this day & age of Autotune, AI, Botox, fillers, etc. to see a woman who’s unafraid of her age and the wrinkles that come with it. It’s shocking and empowering to see Céline compared to the likes of Nicole Kidman/ Jennifer Aniston/ Kylie Minogue (and really most female celebs regardless of age) because she’s focused on her health more than her appearance.

I still think if Celine had an album of Remixed songs it would help her streaming numbers immensely. They could get it ready for Summer 2025. On top of that, rerelease some of her albums --- particularly These Are Special Times --- with bonus songs. Add in a new Bond song and a few duets in the coming years with big names like Gaga and Adele and her streaming would explode.

I dont know where to put this but apparently there is a new novel book out in Quebec. Its by Jean-Michel Fortier and its called "Tout me revient maintenant " which is the translation for Its All Coming Back To Me Now. It tells the story of 2 teenager boys in 2003. One of them likes boys (but he is not out) and Celine Dion. Im curious about that book. I wonder if it mentions Celine a lot or not but with this title I presume it does. I thought i would share the information.

Gotta say though, I find it pretty cool that Kamala & Celine were growing up in Montreal at around the same time (late 1970s/ early’80s). And that she went to the same schools as Leonard Cohen (Westmount High) and Rufus Wainwright & Mitsou (F.A.C.E.), while her mom did research at McGill. I believe she speaks a little bit of French, too?
