Céline being cool again

Some of you are really bitter. If it weren't for Julie, we wouldn't have some amazing releases. For the love of god, bring her back if only just for that.

People here can talk cringe all day, but I've seen some cringe worthy videos made here of fans wanting their moment in the sun to be the ultimate Celine fan. Frankly we're all a bunch of losers for spending so much time here. But who cares ?

"People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."

I find the "protests" all in good fun. Celine fans are in on the joke, we know it's not the most serious thing in the world. This is one big meme, but at the core of it is a truth: we know Celine is one of the greatest singers of all time.

I half-expected some fans to do something outside of Rolling Stone HQ eventually, I just didn't expect they'd drive (all night :giggle: ) from Montreal ^_^ Personally, it made me smile. Celine is usually in on the joke, too.

2023 literally started with Celine going viral...for weird reasons somehow.

They shouldn’t have done that. Their heads will go big thinking they are relevant.

They should have just ignored it. Many people thinks that the list they made is garbage anyways that’s why the trending on twitter.

They made a short moment because of Céline. Thinking they’re relevant. But for a moment only. I guess see you next year Trolling Stones if you leave Céline again. LOL

I just hope word gets back to Celine (if she is even well enough to deal with such trivialities) that people are defending her.

Because the critics have been biased and judgemental against her for so long. None of it matters to her, she knows her place and she knows her relationship with her fans. She is extremely confident and secure in herself. But it is nice to see her legacy stood up for.

I love that we actually all generally dislike the Red Heads. Finally in agreement, legit beyond C R I N G E.

Uhm... I can't with this wtf. This is just making an embarrassment of our fanbase. What is even being "protested," it's literally just an opinion... Sure Celine should have been on the list but it's not that serious, get over it :glare:

If Beyonce weren't on the list, B fans would just bring a boombox and dance to Renaissance outside their office. And likewise, it would be a whole Twitter moment. How is this any different? They're laughing and cheering, it's CAMP.

No one is frothing in genuine anger.

this is cringe and embarrassing.

1) celine has reached a place where there's goodwill with the general public vs the derision of 1999-2010. she went viral after her exclusion from the list, not with celine fans but with normies

2) this type of behavior ruins that goodwill straight up and accomplishes the opposite of what they want. the general public will turn on a dime against perceived entitlement or just cringe. it's like they're begging for ppl to drag her online :fear:

Until now, it still hurts to see her arguably biggest hit down at No. 6 just because of Sony's stupid decision to stop shipping singles so as not to hurt the sales of LTAL and the soundtrack. The song could have stayed 10 weeks at No. 1.

But in this way they made much more money, because albums are much more expensive than singles, and I suppose that they cared more about that Edited by ryba

I agree, and what is most striking is that Julie Snyder seems to be the one leading it. And she traveled to New York for that! I’m sure she does it for her own purposes, because she also interviewed people on the streets with a camera. It seems like she needed some „interesting“ material for her tv show or wants to get into the spotlight with that story. When Celines mom passed away she also gave interviews as a close family friend…

The whole world has been coving this story. What is the difference? I don’t see the problem here. It’s light hearted humour and a bit of fun.

All this Julie is promoting herself…. She is a TV host?!?

To both the Red Heads and the ones having outsize reactions to their 'protest': It's really not that deep.

Sure they're being a bit extra, but it seems to be all in good fun and most people (outside of the direct fanbase) seem to take it that way.

I am wondering about Julie's involvement though. As I've pointed out a couple of weeks ago, Cëline and Julie started following each other (again?) on Twitter. Add to that, she's been popping up in Las Vegas and now this? I get a feeling she's working on something Céline-related.

They did something similar with TTWII. Had they released the single properly it would have been another #1 for Celine and an easy Platinum certification.

Having read all contested opinions in relation to the protest, I have to say I agree with all of them! :pinch:

Part of me thinks it was good fun, but part of me cringed.

Part of me appreciated the good intentions but also the risk of negative publicity the protest entailed.

Part of me wanted to be there, but I would probably be hiding.

Part of thinks RS deserved it, but part of me things we should not bother.

Rolling Stone considers this person, Mariah Carey, to be the greatest singer alive today.

https://youtu.be/OKIY9tCaqU0

We need to make this performance go viral.

:sofunny: The video IS viral. Mariah has been discredited as a live singer LONG ago. It is just her deluded fans that cherry-pick decent notes here and there trying to prove that she still got it. But the world knows the truth and this is evidenced every time she releases an album or announces a tour. :giggle:
