BartFCS Posted August 20, 2016 at 02:58 PM Posted August 20, 2016 at 02:58 PM (edited) One thing I've just noticed after watching that video (well the first 45 seconds, I stopped so I didn't spoil it) is that she mentioned during the making of the Let's Talk About Love album she didn't like to practice or rehearse a song too much before recording, but you'll notice in recent years, going back to Taking Chances, she'll sit there and listen to a demo tape and mimic the exact way to sing the song. It's apparent in this video and the one that comes to mind most is Map to My Heart. She was coached on how to sing a certain phrase too in Surprise, Surprise. Is this typical for artists who don't write their own material? To copy the demo basically?yeah... I don't like that. Like there is nothing coming from her but the voice we love. I guess it's typical for someone who only comes to recording studio to record the vocal bits and goes back home. Remember she was recording during the toughest times possible...
