I really like Céline’s positive attitude. And looking at Rene i kinda miss him seeing together with Céline and his voice.

I wonder what he think of his parents putting him on TV back then now when he sees himself on hundrets of these youtube videos. They really exposed him a lot. Edited by ryba

I totally agree with you. I just know how businesses work and they don't see things the same way as you and I. As we can all attest to the many YouTube videos that get blocked for copyright infringement. Every business if different but some take these things very seriously. Maybe Celine's team is one of those?

Well, there are provisions for “Free/Fair Use” under copyright law, and perhaps if people stated that more on their videos, then there would be less copyright claims. But at any rate, perhaps there should be a cut off for copyright after X amount of years..I mean, the law is complex and with many considerations, but unless you are planning to profit off the use of that material then you shouldn’t object to it being shared.

I understand legally her business team might get upset (it’s their job to get upset), but what would the practical benefit be of blocking that performance from being shared? Ownership just for ownership’s sake seems pointless.

IMO is not just about the possibility of profit. Is also about her image. A professional release has all kinds of work done in the video, audio, mixing and covering up every defect possible. They sure don't want out there a video of Celine looking bad, or out of tune, or showing a obvious playback. And it's not just her team. Celine herself might have some issues with that. It's her image after all.

It might not make sense to us but it certainly is a thing in the industry. I remember reading once that Beyoncé, after some bad photos of her that came out, prohibited professional photographers and journalists in her concerts and events from publishing photos not approved by her and her team. Just an example to show how picky the industry are with these image stuff.

It's amazing that they suddenly remembered this duet. While last year when they had the perfect opportunity in London to perform it together they just totally ignored it :sofunny:

Was just coming to share. Gasp! And the reason I gasp is because they are actually posting archival stuff!

Celine recently posted a picture of her and Barbra on her Instagram.... perhaps something is brewing? :P

Why do I think that not releasing this music video was another mistake by Sony/her team?

But they released both videos for the two songs? I must be missing something. Weren’t they both on the All the Way DVD?

I think they both had their own schedules...and one or both didn’t want to compromise?

But yeah, it’s a shame...probably the last chance we had to see them sing it live (and for it to sound great)

Yes, you’re probably right. There are TONS of unreleased material that they could release but, for whatever reason, they don’t. I think what’s most hurtful and/or frustrating for most of you on here is when someone has a copy of something and they share 30 seconds of it on social media to say “See! Look what I have that you don’t have! I get to enjoy this every day and you never will. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” And I can certainly understand that.

Also I bet many are probably not really fans either. Sure they like the music and stuff but still not fans in that sense.

I agree with that. Even how bad I want stuff to be released I'm also aware of the business side of it. That it's just not to release dvd like uploading a video on Youtube. There goes a lot of work before a release like sound mixing, editing etc. Even if we don't realise this all the time lots of work has gone in to it before the release. Take for example A new day bluray which can be seen as a reference for audio and picture quality it's really great in terms of that. The work done for that probably cost a lot of money which the label wants a good profit from and if they couldn't see that they wouldn't release it. The same goes for everything else. To release old stuff for the fans doesn't make them any money at least not as much to bother releasing it. Although the fans will be happy. Unfortunately the industry doesn't cater to the fans.

Thanks for the Beyoncé tidbit. That’s interesting.

Well, if image is the matter...Celine literally looked the same throughout the entire tour, the same in Memphis as she did in the fan dvd under discussion. She controlled her image via stylists and makeup before she went out onstage.

If they were to share something with the fans, they could choose the one they like best (since they have 100s of recordings). And these are professional recordings with top line cameras and audio capturing.

If anything, these audio and visuals will be much much better than the fan recorded stuff that gets put online. Just last week someone uploaded her full FIY tour performance from Berlin. And certainly that had a lot of quality to be desired. And let’s look at the Brunei special she did from that era, whoever released that recording (was it Celine’s team?) didn’t put any mixing or effects on the audio.

I understand the business perspective, but once you actually examine the merits of that perspective, it pretty much falls apart. Profit? They’ve already earned it. Image? They already control it a great deal and they could release it altered if they wanted to. And they already lose control of her image from fan recordings.

How much money would it cost to literally upload a file they already have on a CD to YouTube? The people at Feelings Productions are probably salaried anyway and honestly their job cannot be that busy...especially during the corona virus.

The upload probably cost nothing. Even if it's on a disc already it doesn't mean it is finished. I mean editing, colors, sound and stuff. It can be somewhat a raw cut that person has. I don't think any company would release something that is sub par in quality just for the sake of releasing stuff even if it's just for Youtube. And I think a company should have some degree of quality with their releases compared to some random person uploading a video. So from a company stand point if they won't make x amount of money compared to spent money why bother only to satisfy a small percent.

But I get what you mean and I agree. I would be more than happy if they uploaded old rare stuff but in trying to see it from the other side also I don't get disappointed.

Well I don't know at least that's how I see it... ;)

I think we’re still at the same place as we were. I can’t say how much it costs to do post-production or even how much possible work there would need to be done (maybe someone has more knowledge), but it would appear from the snippet Celine sounds just fine. And the visuals look just fine. They could even market it as raw and uncut footage, as people hunger for that style too.

My guess is her team already has the skills and the available time, but that’s a guess.

They just released a behind the scenes with Barbra from their duet, and they won’t be making any money on that so they already proved they are capable of pleasing the fans.

Never saw this before. BTS from Want You to Need Me

They didn't release the video, because it had violent scenes (abuse) in it. And they thought it would hurt Celine career at that time.

But I think nowadays it would be great to see this video and a video of This Time, to help/encourage women in this situation.

But how did we get it then? A leak? I don’t see any violence in it.

Of course you don't see the scenes in the making of this video, but the second video for IWYTNM was about abuse.

Oh sorry I was confused because they showed two music videos, or referenced two, in the BTS. And I would’ve thought that the lyrics of live for the one I love fit the topic of abuse much more than IWYTNM...

I wonder if anyone said anything on set or if Céline was uncomfortable with the original take. Was it her in the scenes with the abuse, if you know?

I foresee an angry mob of Celine super fans with pitch forks and tiki torches showing up at that person's house demanding the release of the 1996 footage!

Yes I think it was her, but I'm not sure. Maybe it was too painful for her, like the abuse scene in DFSLN.

Does anyone know WHEN this music video(s) was/were filmed?

Back in 2000 or 2001, I heard a rumour that when the original version was scrapped, Céline came back out of her sabbatical to film scenes for the new version. That was the explanation behind that gawd-awful wig she was wearing and the cheap green screen shots of her at the beach. This theory would leave me to believe that there could be some original shots used in the new version, and that’s why she wore the brown wig -so they could match? But the sets don’t really look the same... hmm..

The censored version of IWYTNM was filmed end 1999/early 2000 and the official version in spring 2000.

Well as Celine describes during Carpool Karaoke, when he was born in 2001 the doctor had him out on the press junket before she had held him in her arms!

Also, I've never noticed the bad wig, but I have noticed the bad green screen effect. So off-putting to what is otherwise a very aesthetically pleasing video. I'm surprised it was filmed in FL, as I think the final version "takes place" in Malibu.

As for Babs and Celine, those days are thanks to David Foster and Linda Thompson (two, three wives ago?). Those days are done. David is finished with the studio, and probably finished with Celine (except when they get together for charity). His thing was to find the up-and-comer and give them a chance to make their dream come true. Now his thing is performing live for charity. He makes this very clear in the recent documentary.

All the talk of Celine being a Hollywood star (in a duo with Barbra, or otherwise), I think it was more Rene dreaming than Celine dreaming...

+ She would have looked amazing in the first version of IWYTNM. Take a look at this TV ad, it was filmed on the same set, right?
