Brandon Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:08 PM Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:08 PM I think her musical experimentation is not doing her any favor sales wise especially in the US (Taking Chances and LMBTL album). Casual fans and general public doesn't want her to sing songs like Rihanna or Katy Perry. That is not what she is famous for. She needs to go back to her roots. Sing love songs. I'd say she needs to go back to David Foster.Wow if you think Taking Chances and LMBTL is some huge "experimentation" And why does she always have to go back to her "roots" of singing love songs. And why always David Foster??You're pigeon-holing her. Don't you think she's been in the business long enough to deserve a chance to explore a bit. What about Jazz, Blues and R&B, Latin-Salsa and Reggaeton. Celine should do a collab with Sean Paul. 1 Quote https://media.giphy....zviuO/giphy.gif
CelinesDIVO5 Posted July 13, 2017 at 08:00 PM Posted July 13, 2017 at 08:00 PM I absolutely love the sound of "L'etoile." I would love an English song in this style. Or even have a good English lyric to fit the melody of the song. They don't have to try and adapt or translate it from French. Just make a completely different song. 6 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

It's so in the line of those acoustic, country-vibe songs Maybe l will write it myself. I wanted to write English lyrics for "Ma faille" and "Tu sauras" as well. 1f4t is one of my favorite albums of all time. Even though I don't understand a word of it. They did l'envie d'aimer, into the greatest reward , great but this is not the same meaning. I prefer the greatest reward , probably because this is Celine . If you take Si c'était à refaire for example, i doubt they could translate , the words and the sound , an open A at the end of the phrases, that's make for good resonance. What could they do in english for the sound to be as perfect. 3 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

Since I don't understand French, I rely on the musical composition to feel the song. I absolutely love the sound of "L'etoile." I don't particularly care whether or not the lyrical content is an exact translation. A writer could just write something beautiful in English, without trying to recreate the poetry of the French lyrics. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
Your_Su_Phu Posted July 14, 2017 at 04:30 PM Posted July 14, 2017 at 04:30 PM "I don't know" was a pretty decent translation. On the other hand, "If that's what it takes" is pretty but generic as hell and lacks any of the poetry of PQTME. 2 Quote

CelinesDIVO5 Posted July 14, 2017 at 04:44 PM Posted July 14, 2017 at 04:44 PM I wrote these lyrics over 13 years ago while listening to "Retiens-moi." I wasn't trying to translate the song, or even write English lyrics that had anything to do with the original song. I wrote about the current situation at that time of my life. I'm still proud of the result. I'm Still MeLyrics: Matthew WisneskiApril 26,2004 I once held something deep insideIn fear that it would ruin my life.Oh, I'm still me But now I'm not afraid to sayI'm preparing for my soul's release.Oh, I'm still me. I'm still meI have not changed. The sun seems to be shining on meWhether skies are dark or light.I'm still me, that loving me.The happy, carefree, funny young boy,With that never ending smile. I no longer hold a secretI now can be who I really am.Oh, I'm still me. I'm happier than I've ever beenMe emotions are flying free.Oh, I'm still me. I'm still me,Always me,Preferring truth over all the lies,That I'd kept for all of my life.I'm still me,Sensitive me,Not afraid to shed any tears.I'm still me, forever more Oh, I was brought down so easily,But now I stand like solid rock. Here to stay, I'm still me. Don't hate me...For wanting to be strong,For wanting the chance to be happy...Get out of misery. Don't hate me,For my wanting the chance to love,For setting my feelings free,And mending my broken heart. That is all... That is all,I'm still me... 4 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

In the case of ITWIT, and IDK, I believe they wanted to try and (for lack of better words) share a sound from her French music with the non French speaking market. Best way at the time was to take two of her most popular French songs and introduce them to the English speaking market in a language they could understand. I think they're both beautiful songs, and that they also fit perfectly on "Falling Into You." As for music being composed around lyrics, that's not always the case. A lot of times, songwriters grasp a melody, and compose the piece without lyrics. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

Taking Chances Posted July 15, 2017 at 12:30 PM Posted July 15, 2017 at 12:30 PM Celine should do a collab with Sean Paul. No. Sean Paul? She might #ss well collaborate with Pitbul then and jump on the J.Lo train. If Celine should collaborate with someone different from her genre or edge her music style up a bit I'd much rather have her work with Daft Punk or The Weeknd, or both. 1 Quote

The others? No, thank you. If she is to duet with an artist on her next album, I'd prefer to be someone new/up-and-coming, or someone barely known in the industry. However, IF it "must" be someone well-known, I would LOVE for a collaboration with Zedd. The work he did on "Clarity" was absolutely beautiful. The same with "Stay The Night." 1 Quote
