You are the one who feels the need to make excuses? Suddenly Celine underperforms so we should be looking at her peers who flop harder to feel better. It is ridiculous. I am listening to the album every day as well. It is fantastic. As such, it deserved better treatment. Plain and simple.

 

My post that you initially quoted was not about sales as much as it was about the MENTALITY of fans regarding sales. Oh but you did not quite get that.

The fact alone, that Rolling Stone chart reported her pre-bundles first week sales as 79.5k, is a marvel for a veteran musician in the streaming era. To debut at #1 with over 113,000 sales is also incredible. However, physical sales via bundles and pre-orders on ITunes etc are always gone after the first week, for every artist, there on, its up to streams to keep the album afloat... Celine barely gets any streams, Imperfections, the best streamed song on the album, only has 8 million streams, and from the second week, it got around 600,000 streams, for context, that doesnt even add up to 4,000 sales! Her second week she barely got enough streams to scrape the sales that she did, as (as with ALL ALBUMS now) there were little if any digital or physical purchases. Her streams arent high enough to support her album sales, especially not in the US, ESPECIALLY not in the peak release/holiday season... it's ridiculous to assume she would do better than she did, even if she had done 3 or 4 more talk shows or performances, it wouldnt matter as she doesnt have the streams to back it up, plain and simple. People nowadays are getting 10 million streams IN ONE DAY on ONE SONG on album release/single releases, Celine doesnt even have that on one song after 3 months! And thats the best performing song on the album! For her to have stayed in the top 10, she wouldve needed *At least* 7.5 million streams in the second week IN THE US ALONE. What you are witnessing is what happens to almost all artists, especially veterans... hell, if todays biggest stars didnt have streams they wouldnt even be on the charts! Album sales have fallen by something ridiculous like 200% in 5 years. I think what you, and many others, need to realise is that streaming is the way the industry works now, sales whether physical or digital, unless extremely, EXTREMELY well sold like Taylor (who had every type of bundle under the sun and 6 months of pre-ordering) mean absolutely nothing. Until the day comes (and i dont think it will) where Celine becomes a streaming force, we wont see the levels of chart success yall so desperately crave

This album sadly improves she is no longer relevant to music industry while she is not giving a single D

about her hard-core fans from day one regarding everything, and that can tell us quite a bit.

It reaches number 1 after a week it’s gone. They should have maintained there promos or did something to maintain the album to still be in the top 10 or 100. But they didn’t do anything that’s why after a week it’s nowhere to be found. There are a lot of competitions out there. Many artists release their new songs/album.

 

They should have done something instead of waiting. Just like the example Mariah did for her “christmas song” until now, her team and her still releases music videos and more promos that we can see outside the streets. Just to maintain it from the top 100. That’s what should they have done.

 

This doesn’t prove that she’s not RELEVANT anymore. They just didn’t maintain the promos or whatever marketing.. whatever term you call it lol

No. She wouldnt have. Her and Deadpools team did great promo for Ashes... best opening streams of her career, and yet still barely even entered the Hot 100 Bubbling Under chart

The difference Between Mariah and Celine is not the alcohol, is promoting songs,

 

Mariah got a #1 with a 25 years old song, Celine has 21 songs to promote, she even dont sang them live on a tour named after the album

 

 

AIWFCIY got 2 new music videos only this year :giggle: :giggle:

i think we have to read between the lines; we are not praising Mariah but we praise that she at least knows how to promote her very old single with a complete new videoclip.

Your assumptions are mistaken. Mariah promoted AIWFCIY cause it was already a big hit, growing every year. It's already a classic. It's not the other way around.

 

The song, without any promotion, had already hit the top 10 in previous years. Then she worked to push the song to #1.

 

You have to be a lot delusional to think that, with the same promo, Celine would have gone from nowhere to the top too.

 

Mariah herself couldn't done with Caution.

 

Besides, AIWFCIY was generating a lot of money. So, there was already a big budget to spend. Courage had a limited budget, divide between record the album, the videos and etc.

Fingers crossed Play Me Like A Love Song will be the Bond theme — released on Valentines Day. As we saw with Ashes, Celine still has the power to create a massively viewed / streamed song. She really is the queen of soundtracks so hopefully this will be another milestone for her

 

Hopefully Imperfections will climb back up the charts now that the holidays are over

 

If she performed one of these fabulous new songs on a big show like The Voice, the album would get a quick boost

 

Another easy strategy to get big attention is to perform one of these songs as a duet and release a duet music video — perhaps the Sam Smith song, the LP song, or one of the Sia songs

 

There are countless ways to keep this album alive in a big way

And you should see the backlash from some Mariah’s fans arguing that she put more energy in this old hit while she did nothing for Caution. And I can’t imagine what would have been the reaction here if Celine would have done the same 😏

Also this meme that we now see everywhere about Mariah going back to the ocean and reappearing next year for Christmas is quite exquisite.
