Squall Posted December 16, 2019 at 02:50 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 02:50 PM If Celine had released the album at the same time Deadpool 2 came out and "Ashes" was the first single, the album would have been a hit. If she had released the album when "Flying On My Own" was released and that was the lead single and it had a killer music video, the album would have been a hit. But instead, she chose to release the best chance at a hit single under the radar and months before the album came out. The singles she chose to kick off the release of her album were...dull. I'm sorry, but there's no universe where "Imperfections" would be a hit. It's fine as a filler song for the album. But first single with a music video? "Courage" is a beautiful song but nobody is going to want to listen to that on the radio or at the gym. And ANOTHER black and white music video? As far as Wendy Williams goes, the only thing more annoying that her is her audience. She's all "We don't want new music! We have bills to pay!" and her brain dead audience nods their heads and applauds like she's some brilliant woman offering her wisdom. No matter what idiotic thing Wendy says, her audience treats her like she's Oprah. 4 Quote
Squall Posted December 16, 2019 at 02:54 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 02:54 PM No.. Most of us are agreed that this is a fantastic album. but the lack of Celine and her team to really promote the album, esspecially in her courage tour, that is why this all happened. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G965F met Tapatalk Yeah, for a tour that is called "Courage" the new album is a total after thought. My first Celine concert was for her "Let's Talk About Love" tour. And that concert was filled with songs from the new album. The was WHOLE REASON for the tour. This tour, you're lucky if you get one or two songs from the new album. 5 Quote

Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G965F met TapatalkI dont think it is from lack of promotion that it happened. There could have been lots more promo yes but to fall off the charts the way it did - a lot of people are not interested in her new music. I dont think there is enough promo on the planet to make people buy her music if they arent die hard fans. That's what I think anyway. I guess Its combined recipe for poor album sales. Nobody ever accused Sony and Celines team for being the most proactive when it comes to album publicity, making videos and releasing singles that's for sure! Kyle_Jared Posted December 16, 2019 at 05:58 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 05:58 PM (edited) The album is #17 in the UK midweek chart. This is fantastic. Frig, she's doing great in UK without a lick of promo. She does have her singles on BBC Radio 2 i'm sure that's helping. For all the bitching and complaining on this forum she's Top 20 in UK and France since release, top 10 in Canada, Top 25 in Austrailia and Top 20 in USA album sales chart. (not sales plus streaming; sales alone). Compare these sales to another diva's album release the same time last year. Called "Caution." Go ahead. But, unfortunately, what she said there is exactly what America thinks: if you are a veteran artist, stick to your old songs. Nobody wants nothing new from you. The numbers from any old artist's new material prove that. Celine is not an exception. Quote

superstar85ca Posted December 16, 2019 at 07:15 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 07:15 PM Wouldn't it be cool if the album was like "re-launched" and actually climbed it's way back up? I mean, that would never happen but wouldn't it be like, so wonderful?? Also if there were more excerpts of her music from the album being played besides Flying on my own, courage and Imperfections? guigafs15 Posted December 16, 2019 at 07:32 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 07:32 PM Meanwhile, Mariah hits her 19 #1 spot with "All I Want For Christmas..." With a old song, obviously. That will grant to her some good press for awhile. Unfortunately, that's not going to translate into good numbers for her non-Christimas material. This industry is so unfair with our icons. It's just sad. 1 Quote

Ajax Posted December 16, 2019 at 08:18 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 08:18 PM Making of TC album is better. They put more effort with it. She really needs a MANAGER to push her to do things like promoting, photoshoots, videoshoots, etc. like Rene did to her before We had more videos and photoshoots since 2015 than what we had since 2007 and 2 albums under René’s management. Normally I defend Celine , but this time it's her and TC's fault.Mariah promotes her own music (yes, an old classic song), but she promotes it cleverer than Celine.Celine promotes the Instagram shop and L'oreal and don't care her about her music. Ajax Posted December 16, 2019 at 09:00 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 09:00 PM She did more videos in a few weeks on this new album than on her last 2 English album combined. that s my point. So no in term of videos the situation was not better under René. The situation has also exploded in term of photoshoots. Then of course she did almost no TV promo for this album. Quote
Ajax Posted December 16, 2019 at 09:07 PM Posted December 16, 2019 at 09:07 PM I’m happy Celine doesn’t have to look that stupid every Christmas while we are all complaining that she is stuck with her old hits. The bad test of all that is out of this world. As much as this setlist is bad I still prefer her presenting Tous les Blues to the American audience every night and doing her thing with the satisfaction that she managed to put one of her best album at 51 than desperately capitalizing on this cringy old hit. The bad test of all that is almost scary. I know that another 1 position chart plus Christmas is like the Saint Graal for the American standards but overall I’m not sure it s that positive for her image. 3 Quote

But Mariah and her team did all the promo because there was already a great interest and support around the song. Without any promotion, the song grew every single year. In that case, a big promotion it's a great move because it's the difference between being at #10 or #1. But in Celine's case, or even Mariah in her regular albums, it makes no difference, cause there's no interest at all and they are completely ignored by the industry. A big promotion, with all the costs and work, would've turn what it was a "really bad outcome" into a "bad outcome". At most, would've get her out of the "big drop in history" thing, but no more then that. It's just not worth it and Celine knows it, her team knows it, her label knows it. A big promotion is only worth it when you actually have a chance of a fight, like Mariah has with Christmas. Otherwise, it's just waste of money, time and energy.
