"Courage" album - Official Topic

That sounds very promising! Less banal lyrics I take it. 👍👍

 

 

 

The words are much deeper than in past Celine albums. There is a depth to the songs. You won’t understand until you hear it but this album for me is a gem.

And the moon symbolism in Vegas. Both in AND and "Celine".

 

And the Courage era have tons of symbolism though. You'd think after the nununu-thing she'd keep a low profile, instead she stepped it up.

there are a lot of diferent energy, even in the slow songs, some are like trance, like the song CHANGE MY MIND, with a feelig à lá Massive Attack

I'm holding off until Celine tells me when I can do that. Hopefully before the 15th.

Nah, it doesn't matter to her, to me... She usually doesn't matter of playback also. She has her life, her new album, a lot of work. Those other people are (thanks to God) a minority.

I agree with whoever said that you will either LOVE, or HATE this album...the sound is definitely like nothing else from her catalogue before. Now I can also understand why the “Courage” tour doesn’t include a lot the songs tho, not because they aren’t good but I have a hard time picturing a show with many of the new songs alongside BYLM, or ABM etc.

after how this Tour started. I hope they have a massive positive plan going on for the setlist

After the first listen

 

 

After a first listen and being extremely tired, actually I had to make an effort to fully listen to the album and be writing now, but I agree it's a very cohesive album, and I love so!

 

There are magical moments with her voice, her attitude, her breathings. Very interesting, really glad she has pushed the limits so much, it's definitely edgy for her, much more than in TC and of course LMBTL. I can hear influences of LP in some songs, attitudes, also SIA, some A change is gonna come vibes, soul, funk, great piano ballads, interesting electronic sounds, the best production IN YEARS. From a production point of view, her voice sounds crystal clear, but her voices is not crystal clear at all. It's the evolution of the granny voice, but used in a much wiser way. However at times there are some parts that sounded a bit annoying, too like the mouth is too closed.

 

Overall a pretty good impression. I will give more listens to it tomorrow. To those who haven't heard the album, don't worry, you will find good surprises. Good songs? I hope so!

Well, let's start by saying that the whole album in general sounds homogeneous and consistent, very different from Loved Me Back To Life. I will discard the 4 songs already heard before and focus only on the other 12.

 

 

"Lovers Never Die", for me it should not be in position number 2, coming from an opening very high as is FOMO, the dynamics go down completely.

"Falling In Love Again", perfect to include in the tour. Intimist, calm, but does not get to have that "depressive" dye that has (for example) "A Song For You". Here, Celine's voice shines as usual, in the few high points of the song.

"Change My Mind", one of the best on the album in my opinion. Fresh, new, current ... yes, the treble at the end I think they are - if I'm not mistaken - the highest in study since "All By Myself". Beautiful.

"Say Yes", like "Falling In Love Again", perfect for inclusion in the tour, I would not mind if they were hooked. Quiet and beautiful. It reminds me of "A La Plus Haute Branche"

"Nobody's Watching", the perfect complement to "Imperfections". It reminds me a little of "Treat Her Like A Lady".

"The Chase", perfect for a movie, at this point I begin to think that, saving the distances, we are facing a new "A New Day Has Come" (in concept of 'album' I mean).

"For The Lover That I Lost", another of the low points of the album in my opinion. I get the impression that here Celine wanted to somehow 'imitate' the voice of Sam Smith. It's fine, but it doesn't convince me.

"Baby", another work by Sia. For me it must be on the tour if or if, it is very applicable to the stage and I imagine that the public will like it. Catchy and with a very good pace. Very nice.

"I Will Be Stronger", I imagine her next single with everything and video. Very beautiful and, in my opinion, hopeful.

"How Did You Get There", something I never imagined that Celine could sing in these times, goes and does. Perfect. I imagine the video clip set in the 50s, very retro. "I Love You" came to mind.

"Look At Us Now", I love it, but I see Celine's way of singing weird, maybe that's what doesn't quite convince me. It reminds me of one of the songs of Taking Chances.

"Perfect Goodbye", it doesn't seem to me that it has been good as closing the album, I think I would have replaced it with PMLALS or Boundaries (because of the little that could be heard from the latter).

 

 

This is what I was able to draw in conclusions after two listeners in a row from the entire album. We will see how I follow later.

I have listened to the whole album, here’s my thought

 

1. “Flying on My Own”
   

After listened to the whole regular album, I think this one didn’t gave the idea how the rest of the album will be, it’s the only dated song from the album in term of music, but a nice way to start the album with the light and happy music.

1. “Lovers Never Die”
   

I thought this will be an emotional ballad, but when she started to sing it reminds me of “Can’t Fight The Feeling”, it’s nice song, I love some parts of how she sing in this song. I think this is the start what this album would be like.

1. “Falling in Love Again”
   

I love this one, I love the simplicity of the music and how she sing it, I can still feel the old Celine here but with modern touch even when the song is not that modern.

1. “Lying Down”
   

I think this is the most thing that closer to Celine everyone’s know or can associate with.

1. “Courage”
   

Again, not what I expected type of Ballad I thought it would be, one of my favorite, especially the second part of the song.

1. “Imperfections”
   

It’s my least favorite song from this album.

1. “Change My Mind”
   

One of my favorite, the indie rock feel, the “scream”, I love the weird sound of the music in the beginning.

1. “Say Yes”
   

I don’t really like the song at first, but after a while it grown on me, it’s so light and calming.

1. “Nobody’s Watching”
   

It’s my favorite from the album, I caught myself humming this song since I woke up, it’s so funky.

1. “The Chase”
   

I love this one, the music makes me think about landscape, earth, sea from above, I don’t know why.

1. “For the Lover That I Lost”
   

I don’t really like the song the first time I heard it, but when I played the album and not really pay attention to the tittle I thought the song is good, it surprised me that this is the song I don’t like it before.

1. “Baby”
   

It’s what I expected from Sia, not my favorite.

1. “I Will Be Stronger”
   

It’s like a gospel song, I feel like a religious experience listening to this song. One of my favorite.

1. “How Did You Get Here”
   

The first time I heard this song, reminds me of “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” from Paloma Faith. Love it so much.

1. “Look at Us Now”
   

I love her low register voice in this song, soulful music. One of my favorite.

1. “Perfect Goodbye”
   

This one is another one that I don’t like it the first time I heard it but then I caught myself addicted to this song. One of my favorite.

 

I love this album, I really didn’t expected the album to be like this, old fans would really love it or really hate it. All my friends hate it, some friends think it’s a mess album, I think it’s coherent album but not everyone’s taste, far from a mess. No dance anthem though, no wonder why David Guetta give us that LD song, It’s the most Unlike Celine’s album so far.

Maybe that’s why they released them first? Lying Down and Courage for me are so Céline, whereas Imperfections is a modern take, and well done.
