"Courage" album - Official Topic

[Taking Chances]

There are a few parts that's distracting because of her weird diction/pronunciations. But that's already nitpicking.

 

The Chase - the first part reminds me of Thank You from LMBTL, then as the chorus kicks in, the drum beat reminds me of Reach by Gloria

 

Lovers Never Die - this is a well produced song but I guess this type of sound is not my cup of tea. However I lover the parts where her voice kind of "breaks" /squeaks..

 

Say Yes - this is the weakest of the liz rodrigues songs - refrain reminds me again of a part in Thank You

 

For The Lover I Lost - i feel this is just one of Sam Smith's leftovers. I just wish he submitted a stronger song

 

 

I agree for the most part.

 

I wouldn't really call the pronunciation or style nitpicking though. She's turned that up to 11. I could do with a little less of that honestly. It's my least favorite thing about these new songs. I don't want to be like that, but I think it's a little sad that it's become so much of it. I also miss reverb.

 

I really like the "squeaks" in Lovers Never Die as well. It's oddly pretty in a way.

A song or 3 being leaked is something else than the whole album.

 

Best they can hope for is to try and stop the bleeding, but at this point, it's like whack-a-mole. A lost cause.

 

And as noted above, this will hurt Celine a lot more than it does younger / more current artists, given her out-of-the-norm reliance on physical and download (she's probably one of the most reliant artists out there on the legacy formats).

 

So sad for her and her team and the people at Sony who undoubtedly worked so hard to prep for the launch.

Wow I have to say that IT'S NOT ME who leaked the album, "life being too short" is about listening to it. If the leak was not made by Céline's team I am really sorry for that but first it's not me who leaked the album, second I never posted anything about the songs without spoilers. I just tried to be kind to those who wanted to hear it without hurting too much those who didn't want to. Your words are very hard and it makes me feel really sad.

 

Ugh, come on. I get why people on here are mad that we've listened to the leak - however, I have not shared the link and don't intend to spread the files. I have ordered the physical album on Amazon, the digital copy on iTunes and I will for sure buy the vinyl when they release it. I also just spent hundreds of £'s buying tickets for this tour so Celine and her team have (and still will get) a good amount of my hard-earned cash this year.

Came back to check if anything had actually been done here and surprise surprise: NOTHING. What is the point of moderation and administration if something like this which is not only against forum rules, but is literally illegal is going on? Im utterly shocked at the lack of empathy, common sense and general intelligence some people in this thread have shown. I agree. This could mean at least 15-20% less sales and that could be a big difference on the charts. I was afraid of Adele, never of the album leaking two weeks before. It happened to Taking Chances, but back then it happened to everyone so all artists were equally hurt. Two-three days before the album release is normal now, but someone really don’t like Celine to do this. What I can’t believe is that so called fans like the Red Heads were promoting it had leaked on Facebook! One thing is that you have it and enjoy it yourself and other is spreading the word.

 

Yes it's strange for the Red Heads but maybe they were also assuming that the leak was made by team Céline themselves. They have very good information from "above" so...

 

By the way the guy with whom I manage the Swiss fan club FB page wanted us to talk also about the leak, but I refused, and instead we posted this:

What about people mind their own business? I will not talk for everyone but I am going to buy the album and stream it. That is in addition to buy several tickets for the tour. If i want to listen the album today (because there is no point of waiting two weeks), it's my decision. As much as the whole thing about being against leakage when the only way to consume an album was to buy it made sens, as much as it does not nowadays. The album will be for free on freaking YouTube!

It will hurt, we don't know how much but it will. And the problem is that Celine is not the kind of artist that can change the release day so easily. They have probably planned a lot of promotion for the week of the release, so releasing when she can’t promote would be even worse. I have the album myself (I just googled Celine Dion Courage mp3 and you get countless links) but I’m so disappointed with this I can’t even listen to it. It was one of the most anticipated albums of the year, really a pity this is happening.

If you are going to listened to the leak at least keep it to yourself or talk to others about it in DM. Lots of us don't want any spoilers.

 

Those thinking passing to other hardcore fans isn't damaging clearly have no grasp of the bigger picture. You have no idea who you are passing it to or if that fan won't share it. I haven't been on YouTube but I am 99% sure some accounts have already uploaded the songs. Maybe not Celine fan accounts (although I know the allure of getting views by uploading it) but others.

I definitely enjoy the second part of the album much more.

 

Here are my thoughts:

• “Baby” is an amazing song! It should have been sent to radios and be the first official single with a music video (not Imperfection or Lying Down). Definitely one of the very best on the album IMO.
  
• “Say Yes” and "Change My Mind" are great songs. Radio single potential.
  
• “The Chase” is a good song! Has a very interesting country vibe to it.
  
• In “For The Lover That I Lost” she has a very weird pronunciation, especially in the chorus. I observed that it often happens when she tries to be assertive and then she sounds weird like this. Also, I think that this song should have been sung with a lot of emotion and not with assertiveness. Her style of singing it doesn’t fit the lyric. The song itself is ok.
  
• “I Will Be Stronger” sounds so familiar.
  
• “How Did You Get Here” has a strong Aretha Franklin/Amy Winehouse vibe, but it’s a fun song, not sad or melancholic. I kind of like the gospel vibes in there.
  
• “Look At Us Now” is ok. I like it. I think it will grow on me even more in time.
  
• Does she really sing “This s*** is perfect” in “Perfect Goodbye” ????
  

She has been leaking so many parts of her new songs all the time! Here is what I’ve noticed:

• “I wanna party like a believer” is what she sang in one of the interviews and it’s part of “Nobody’s Watching”.
  
• The very beginning of “I will be stronger” is what she leaked on Carpool Karaoke.
  

All in all: I don’t want to be negative, but I expected much more from this album. I’m not blown away by it (maybe it will change in time). Moreover, some songs (e.g. "I Will Be Stronger") sound like they actually belong to LMBTL. When I listen to some songs, I have the impression that I listen to LMBTL part II.

It's not a job... they don't sit on here 24/7, on a random Sunday to take down illegal links. It's simply not reasonable to expect that they do.

People have lives and it's not their responsibility. Let's be grateful we have moderators in the first place, who already do a lot to keep this place organized and civil. Because they certainly don't have to.

I’m not for the leaks, but it is what it is... there’s no reason a moderator should silence people for talking about it. I doubt anyone here is responsible for the leaking, that blame falls on the party who did so. Once leaked, its not unreasonable to know that some people will listen to it and talk about it. I think people are placing blame were it isn’t warranted.

The "impatient" thing was only to understand why some fans have the courage to wait for the 15th and others don't. Not about the leak... There is also one member (I can't remember which one) who decided not to listen to Lying down / Imperfections / Courage and wait for the 15th. How is it possible? It's about patience I think. And psychology studies show that patient people (you know the marshmallow test?) have better lives than others... So you should just feel pity for us, who are so impatient, but stop being rude with me please.

Hmmmmm....maybe if Sony/Celine’s Team/whoever hadn’t announced the album in April and then started the Courage World Tour 2 MONTHS before the release of the album, people wouldn’t be so impatient/excited/interested to hear it.

Well, the leak it's a fact and it's not the first time that happen (9 years ago, when first posthomous MJ's albums comes out, was leaked a mont before the release).

Courage it's now in all these pages for download music (in fact, i'm hearing now the album from here).

Ok, thank you for your explanation, I will shut my mouth now ^^ (even though for me it's still strange that the WHOLE album hasn't leaked).

 

But it basically is the whole ‘standard’ album!! Thus probably being the version that most non die hard fans will buy and the most likely of the two versions sent to reviewers to review, which is where I wholeheartedly believe this leak has come from not Celine’s team as some are speculating.

 

This leak totally spoils it for everyone who was excited to wait for two more measly weeks to listen to it without any spoilers or people’s perceptions on their first listen spoiling it for everyone.

 

That’s what irks me more actually is that people are openly giving their opinions on it here without using spoiler tags for the people like myself who are honest and respectful towards Celine and want to listen to it legally when it’s available and not spoil it for themselves listening to it in what can surely only be poor audio quality, and with no lyrics to follow along with on first listen either.

 

I think the ones who caved are going to very much regret their decision.
