Anyone cried after listening to courage.... I'm not sure how Celine gonna perform this song as I feel her pain yet courage in the song

 

Lying down is simply awesome, spectacular, current, modern,full of attitude....

I have to say, NEVER since probably ANDHC have I listened to the a first single or first couple songs from a new album have I felt that songs felt CURRENT but still Celine! In 2007 it sounded like she was doing something from 2001 for example, she was always late with the tens of current.... and with this album it did scare me into thinking it could be the same because she had been working on this album already for a few years before we heard anything, but the song “Courage” does give me a timeless feel, I think it was one of the first songs offered to Celine if I remember correctly and it’s still raw and current in 2019, I think it will be a timeless song.

 

As for “Lying Down”.... Modern and edgy without the “bedroom” voice, that song takes more “chances” than anything on the TC album.

 

And I LOVE, “imperfections” too, very modern, mellow, almost sounds like in the vain of Post Molone or Khalid! Very very current!

I would listen in this order....

 

1. Lying Down

2. Imperfections

3. Courage

 

That’s the order I listened and it took me on a roller coaster of emotion because they are all 3 great but different!

Ok so looks like the deluxe is 19 tracks not 20. But still impressive. Regular album is 16 tracks.

I hope radio have been sent all 3 songs with a big "play whichever one you want" note attached!

I know here they are having a Celine day with ads saying the voice that has transcended generations is back with new music. They are playing all 3 new songs. Courage is currently being played.

Same here. During the first half of the song I was trying really hard to convince myself it was I Surrender part 2 .... but the vocal mixing got really messy toward the end and I feel like she really missed some big opportunities with that repetitive shouting at the end.

 

Courage is, quite simply, a perfect song, and everything about the vocal is sublime. Every little detail feels like an intentional part of an emotional still life. And she conveys that wistful feeling of being unsure if you might break down crying at any moment really subtly and powerfully.

 

I have this little fantasy about Imperfections that her new FB prof pic is a screenshot from a video where she's sitting on a deserted beach wearing millennial pink, just working on her self-care and loving herself, then these other people, like a really diverse group of people, join her and they do this crazy lowkey choreographed dance as the sun sets.

Wow I dare say the lyrics for Courage are her most poignant English ones yet.. as hardcore a fan i am, i still give her ballads the regular eye roll.. but this one has me really paying attention and feeling hard.

 

“In the echo of my voice i hear your words” ... oof.

 

 

On that note, there’s a curiously complex message in Imperfections lol. It’s mostly about asking for time to work on her own imperfections.. but then also offers that “they made me who i am today and they won’t ever go away... can you love them the way i love you”. It’s like a subtle protest against someone who isn’t accepting you for the way you are lol. I love it btw!

To me they are ALL three better than FOMO and modern.... but my favorite are in these order;

 

1. Courage

2. Imperfections

3. Lying Down

Haven’t listened to Corage yet, but I prefer Lying Down to imperfections. I also think it would be a stronger single, Imperfections sounds more like anyone out there could do. But I listened to them in a bathroom in between meetings so my opinion my change after a proper listen.

I like all three songs and it's quite difficult to say which one is my favorite . They all offer something different.

"Lying Down" is perhaps the closest to what would I expect from Céline in 2019. Very powerful, very "Céline" with a very fresh and modern production. I expected to love this song since I heard the snippet on Carpool Karaoke and I'm not disappointed. The only thing that I should let grow on me are the verses. There is a tiny thing about them that I miss. Strangely I usually get such a feeling from the songs that I end up loving the most. "Courage" is very emotional and brings back the "old" Céline, but in more intimate way and again with a current production. "Imperfections" on the other hand brings something new and totally catchy. I can't get rid of the chorus. I think they are all three better than "Flying On My Own" which is not bad, but a bit too generic in my opinion. I'm curious about the rest of the album.

Landed in Montreal and waiting for the train to Quebec City. Been listening to all 3 - honestly, I love them all. Courage is my favorite by far - love everything about it. Imperfections is next. Lying Down not far behind - I definitely like it more having heard the entire track. I’m most excited to hear her perform these songs lives tonight for the first time. I imagine these 3 and FOMO will be the only news tracks we hear but that should be more than enough!

"I found me, I found faith, I found trust" in Lying Down, I think in the whole Encore un soir album she didn't open her throat as much as in the last note of "trust". I can’t with “Courage”.... I’m already putting this as one of her best English songs EVER! It has that realness that is most usually only in her French work.
