I’m so excited for you that you are experimenting with basic math, congratulations! :)

I have honestly no idea what this album will bring.

I really think that they changed direction with this album.

Example Stephan was going to write just 1 song, and he is still working on that album/songs.

You can't tell me they hadn't enough songs already?

But that's just speculation from my part.

We just have to wait and see. I really hope it will show her 'new' me.

A penny for your thoughts, fellow Celiniacs...

There’s a lot of Mariah bagging on here and yes she writes a lot of those headlines herself, but what is UNDENIABLE is the success particularly of her singles in the 90s. From Vision of Love to One Sweet Day (pretty much) we had a husband-produced, ballad train that was incredible. Then once she was without her husband (yes I know very different reasons) she started doing what she wanted and we got (in my opinion) the greatest MC song of them all, Honey. Hate on her all you like, but we all know that right, wrong or different, Mariah does whatever the hell she wants and for an almost 50yo woman in a society that is ageist, I love that.

So why am I mentioning any of this? Because we are about to see the rebirth of Celine Dion as we know her.

I dare say she has deviated her direction on this next album many times because what happens next marks the next true next chapter in her career. Will there be an RnB vibe? A dance vibe? More ballads but perhaps more contemporary production? Collabs with unexpected producers/artists etc?

All I wanted for Christmas (pun intended) this year was to be sitting in the glorious hot Aussie sun drinking a cold beer and blasting Celine’s album on repeat... but if it’s going to be truly awesome and the BEST REVIEWED ALBUM OF HER CAREER then for that I am happy to wait (and check this thread every other day.)

Time to chime in peeps! X

Well, then hopefully she writes an easy song lol

Ahhh, regrets of the 90s, I don’t know why someone didn’t make a Celine, Whitney & Mariah collaboration happen. Imagine them three voices on a 4 minute track, would’ve probably been the most successful song EVER lol.

Probably just because she said "NO", as she said to 90% of things René proposed her and she acknowledged only a fraction of things René wanted her to do come to fruition.

If that opportunity was ever at her door, she'd probably said "no" because she would feel "intimidated" or "not up to Whitney's mark" or something like that. Or maybe because she'd be "afraid" or Whitney overshadowing her? Who knows. Celine's very modest sometimes, but in the wrong way in these ocassions -_- I'm sure she had let many collaborations like this pass and go exactly because of this argument

You do realise all that speech you wrote is just daydreaming and wishful thinking as per today right :innocent:

We are all full of good intentions when it comes to Céline and her future projects and we all have the best expectatives for Céline's new music, but until now, and so far... it's just hopes and dreams of something we have the least idea of what's going to be about... and that is taking already too much time

Waiting 6 years for a new album does not guarantee anything, unfortunately. We've seen great legends releasing new albums this year after long periods of silence -Barbra, Cher, Mariah Carey... Even Dido, one less-known singer but quite successful back in her days is releasing a new album next year, after 5 years of silence. So everyone seems to be overtaking Céline on this release, what's going on with her, really? We really want to know, and she doesn't seem very enthusiastic about recording new music these days

It's not that I don't want us to get the best album possible, but when I read such "imaginative" comments I can't but smile. I'm very tired of waiting for this new album. But above all, I'm extremely tired of waiting for Céline to do all that long-list of "great things" and "opportunities" that define that mantra of her which is "the best is yet to come" :whistling: :dunce:

Anyway, hope all you said becomes reality and we can celebrate "the best reviewed album of her career", as you described it!

Why You guys always expert that celine have to Proof something ... even if this album will be full of “overjoyeds” “right next to the right ones” “Super Loves” I don’t care ... I don’t need to see Celine on the top of the charts... I just wanna hear her voice and enjoy new lyrics and new messages which those new songs will bring.

I want that too! I was just saying I wish I had the same "faith" and positive expectations as him for an album of which we know nothing yet.

I don't expect any kind of "best reviews" nor "hits" nor her to be played on radios again! I couldn't care less about all that, but please, let her give us a great album with the best songs possible.

Even if she went to do an album with a 90s sound or "old fashioned sound" but quality melodies and lyrics, I would be delighted for that. It would be one "best album" (for me). But when she tries hard to replicate modern sounds, other singers' voices, or to include by force big names in the album just for the sake of it... NO NO NO #Celinonono -_-

Maybe some will laugh at me for this, but give me some or all of the ANDHC rejected songs today, and it would probably make a better album than most of the material she has recorded until now :whistling: -_- -_- -_-

And about the "proving" or not proving something, that's a debate that opens a can of worms... but why do we think she has to prove something? Well, because actually she has to. And with this album, more than ever. She'll have to prove something else with this album than just the mere contractual process of releasing "another" album, for the sake of it!

The more time it has passed since her last English album in 2013, the more expectatives are, the more pressure is created, and she can either release a GREAT memorable album, or repeat the chaotic careless formula in LMBTL and her recording career will be definitely ignored forever (if it's not already).

She has to prove something. She can't take everything for granted and I'm sure she does not. Her public won't be buying anything she puts out, and that already happened with LMBTL album. She has to prove something now with this album and that's part of why she's taking so long to release this damn disc, because she has a lot of pressure on it this time. Prove it for herself, prove it to René, prove it to the industry that she can make it without René, call it what you like but of course there's something to prove with this album. Trying to deny this is the same as accepting Céline has given up any efforts in her recording career and even adopted some arrogant attitude, taking for granted that just because she's "Celine Dion" she doesn't need to prove anything else in the Music, and that's a sad thought :)

It takes time because this is a new "start" so to speak for her, as it's the first English album without René's input.

So if her and Sony decide to go with a different style, it's now or never. It has to be done right.

And I'm happy they are taking the time they need to get it right.

Also, just because Céline didn't sound excited in that ONE interview about the new album doesn't mean she isn't interested. Maybe she just feels pressured to get it right more than ever before - and doesn't want to talk about it just yet.

I don’t think she’s afraid to collaborate with anyone. The LTAL album is major proof of that.

The problem with waiting 6 years to put out an album is that there is so much built-up anticipation and expectation that it ends up being exponentially more stressful for her. The longer it takes, the more "perfect" it'll have to be, and you can't possibly be perfect to everyone.

If she put out an album every year or two, it would just be another project, and anyone who didn't quite love it could easily dismiss it as just one of many, and rely on the fact that something else is just around the corner.

But waiting this long, she painted herself into a corner. If she does something dramatically different, some people will be incensed because they'll think she's "changing her religion". If she doesn't do something new, she'll be dismissed as boring or a has-been. So she can't win.

If they kept feeding us new music (and there surely is enough recorded material in the archives to fill several albums!) it would be much easier for her to be truly creative without huge pressure of expectation.

I would quite like an Elton duet!

Same! We already know they sound great together!

I saw Elton's farewell show at Madison Square Garden a few weeks back - and it was so excellent! I don't know his catalog as well as, say, The Beatles, but man, he truly is responsible for some of the best pop songs ever made. And he's a proper musician's musician, who also happens to be a giant pop star - I love that.

He brought his sons out at the end of the show to see what daddy does for work. It was really sweet though I have mixed feelings about parading little kids around like that... I'm sure it was all with the best intentions and he wouldn't have done it they didn't want to.

At the end of the show, he "ascended into the heavens" via this lift thingy, wearing a sparkly sweatsuit and glittering bathrobe. He's such a diva! :giggle: (See ~60min into

.)

Great moment, too, when he talked about how, as a up-and-coming songwriter, he was floored when one of his tunes (

) was recorded by Aretha. (He then went and dedicated it to his favorite piano player - Diana Krall - who also does a killer version of the song.)

My friends & family back home (Toronto) have seen him and David around town - he's kind of an adopted Canadian via David - and I'm told he's always been lovely to locals. Always struck me as a genuinely good guy.

Anyway, I'm so glad I finally saw him live, and now really regret not seeing his show at Caesar's before it wrapped up. I think him doing something with Celine could be really fun and I absolutely wouldn't mind at all. I love piano-based pop, and he's the ultimate grand master in that department.

She’s actually at her best when challenged, otherwise sometimes she gets too comfortable.

Btw: Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating.

Not anyone, but Whitney I said. If there was any singer that could actually overshadow her in 1998 on a duet that was Whitney Houston. Only her.

Talking of her best vocal years of course (pre-2002, and particularly between 1996-1998 when her voice was at her peak).

Unfortunately, we never saw the two of them singing together. There was another chance of seeing them together in Divas 2002 when they shared the same stage together that night, but not even then they agreed to perform together (Whitney sang with Mary J. Blige instead) :innocent: :hmm:

Not really.

First Céline's voice peak was not between 96-98 and Whitney even less..😂

Whitney's voice was at its peak in the 80s till early 90s.

Anyway each one of the vocal trinity has their own qualities and technique. They are not called like this for nothing.

Then it will depend on your taste. Only this. There's no overshade or anything. That's only in your mind. Like most of the rest. Lol

I’m gonna have to disagree on one part in 1998 Whitney’s voice was already passed her prime. Mariah would’ve have had a better chance to upscale in that year. But Celine was untouched in the entire industry from 1996-1999 in my opinion.

Also, I’m 2002 she came back better than ever vocal wise. I don’t doubt that if Celine hadn’t taken the 2 years off to have a baby she would’ve probably released two more HUGE albums in that time frame.

Whitney and Mary J Blige was 1999. Celine and Whitney never did VH1 Divas together. But even so, I don’t think that Celine would have ever turned down the opportunity. She admired Whitney almost as much as she admired Barbra. She certainly would have sang with her, given the chance.

That’s managments fault they should’ve reached out for collaborations Micheal Jackson, Whitney and Mariah. If nothing else, they should’ve had duets on Grammys where was Mr. Ken Erlich?

Because by 2002, the drugs already took her voice. What a shame because in my opinion she had the strongest voice of her generation.

Celine is in my opinion the single best voice ever on all levels but nobody compared to Whitney’s strength and to watch it just deteriorate was so sad.

I'm glad I'm able to discover something new to you after all because actually she was there that night, and performed with Mary J. Blige again the same song :)

But for a rights reason (as usually), Whitney's performance was not included in the home DVD release, so most people have no idea Whitney and Céline were actually sharing the same stage once.

It was just another missed moment for Celine to collaborate and perform with another legend, and that night was a unique opportunity

Also I remember all the Divas came out together at the end of the show and that was the only time Céline and Whitney shared the stage together...

No question Cher was a more approachable diva that night  Whitney didn't even do the red carpet photocall, she was the only one not posing for the photographers :hmm: :whee:

Cher, Celine, Whitney together that night... Just imagine what a party and the jam session that the three of them could have put up together backstage :giggle:

I’m gonna have to disagree on one part in 1998 Whitney’s voice was already passed her prime. Mariah would’ve have had a better chance to upscale in that year. But Celine was untouched in the entire industry from 1996-1999 in my opinion.

Agree but in 1998 with her massively successful album My Love Is Your Love she could still have done marvels with her voice. She still had that voice and at least during the TV promotion o the album she was absolutely flawless (the proof is in the pudding, her duet with Mariah for the Prince of Egypt is amazing and she has impressive vocals there that had nothing to envy Céline's).

Céline has never had no rival but herself and Whitney imo.

Some performances of Whitney on TV that show she still had it in 1998 (and well through 2000 too) :in_love:

That was because they eliminated her participation from the DVD release, so few people know she was there. But the TV broadcast luckily included her performance.

s*** the DVD release is heavily edited. I don't know why the hell they bring together so many legends the same night and then they release a video of it with barely half of the show included (because they cut more songs and speeches)

What, Whitney was at the Divas 2002, amazing. It's a shame that her voice and life was damaged by the drugs. Love her
