And about the "proving" or not proving something, that's a debate that opens a can of worms... but why do we think she has to prove something? Well, because actually she has to. And with this album, more than ever. She'll have to prove something else with this album than just the mere contractual process of releasing "another" album, for the sake of it!

The more time it has passed since her last English album in 2013, the more expectatives are, the more pressure is created, and she can either release a GREAT memorable album, or repeat the chaotic careless formula in LMBTL and her recording career will be definitely ignored forever (if it's not already).

She has to prove something. She can't take everything for granted and I'm sure she does not. Her public won't be buying anything she puts out, and that already happened with LMBTL album. She has to prove something now with this album and that's part of why she's taking so long to release this damn disc, because she has a lot of pressure on it this time. Prove it for herself, prove it to René, prove it to the industry that she can make it without René, call it what you like but of course there's something to prove with this album. Trying to deny this is the same as accepting Céline has given up any efforts in her recording career and even adopted some arrogant attitude, taking for granted that just because she's "Celine Dion" she doesn't need to prove anything else in the Music, and that's a sad thought :)

There is where you are WRONG!

She doesn't have to proof anything at all ... and she started to spread those words right after RC was born ... she has been competed as a human being that time and since she do music as a part of her life (NOT AS HER LIFE WOULD DEPEND ON IT) ... She love to experiment (we can see it in everything she do) but this is just for fun! She has got DIVA status long time ago and therefore she doesn't need to proof anything. She do not care if her album will be a bestseller or if its gonna do well in charts .. She basicly loves to sing for people who loves her and I am definitely one of those people <3

I'm glad I'm able to discover something new to you after all because actually she was there that night, and performed with Mary J. Blige again the same song :)

But for a rights reason (as usually), Whitney's performance was not included in the home DVD release, so most people have no idea Whitney and Céline were actually sharing the same stage once.

It was just another missed moment for Celine to collaborate and perform with another legend, and that night was a unique opportunity

Also I remember all the Divas came out together at the end of the show and that was the only time Céline and Whitney shared the stage together...

No question Cher was a more approachable diva that night  Whitney didn't even do the red carpet photocall, she was the only one not posing for the photographers :hmm: :whee:

Cher, Celine, Whitney together that night... Just imagine what a party and the jam session that the three of them could have put up together backstage :giggle:

I was already corrected and admitted my mistake above.

Agree but in 1998 with her massively successful album My Love Is Your Love she could still have done marvels with her voice. She still had that voice and at least during the TV promotion o the album she was absolutely flawless (the proof is in the pudding, her duet with Mariah for the Prince of Egypt is amazing and she has impressive vocals there that had nothing to envy Céline's).

Céline has never had no rival but herself and Whitney imo.

Some performances of Whitney on TV that show she still had it in 1998 (and well through 2000 too) :in_love:

That was because they eliminated her participation from the DVD release, so few people know she was there. But the TV broadcast luckily included her performance.

s*** the DVD release is heavily edited. I don't know why the hell they bring together so many legends the same night and then they release a video of it with barely half of the show included (because they cut more songs and speeches)

I was referring to the original broadcast that I recorded myself years ago. I haven’t watched in a very long time. But even after watching dozens of times, I still don’t remember the performance.

1) Wasn't she a "human being" before RC was born?? :hmm:

2) Mind you, she loves to sing basically for rich people, judging by the prices of her last tours and the type of public that attends her Vegas shows and the current prices they're asking :whistling:

Must have happened something similar to what we got with the 2002 CBS Special; the regular US broadcast was edited and only in Germany they got the additional performances of GTSW and Aun existe amor.

I really wonder what the deal with this new album is. It’s crazy how long everything takes and apparently they’ve changed the concept. I would really hope that she will share the whole story behind that album in an interview one day. I would also love an elaborate song by song documentary with in studio footage. She did that in the past. Bring it back! Edited by ryba

In my opinion a reunion show of the first Divas Live is in order.

Honestly that was the best overall edition only in front of the 2002 Vegas.

The rest of the shows were a joke!

Sorry I can't find a topic dedicated to the Divas 2002 show, but here's the official setlist of songs and artists that performed.

As you can see, we got more songs omitted in the CD release than those that were actually included :giggle: :pinch:

Well we can’t bring her back from the dead, unless they want to use a hologram....

They could all pay tribute.

I say just bring back the concept of “Divas Live,” but not bring on every female singer just because they’re hot at the moment. A new one could include Celine and Barbra. Celine could perform her new single, and Barbra hers. Plus, they could FINALLY do a live performance of “Tell Him.”

Laura Pausini has said several times she has tried to record a duet with Céline for her different duets albums (she has already two out at least) and Céline said "no". Last time Laura said she'll propose her another song and that "third time's a charm", so she doesn't lose hope

But according to the few duets Céline has recorded with women (compared to men), she's kind of an unaccessible singer to record with her :whistling:

You never wondered why Céline always offers duets with men and we barely have any official duets with women, despite she spends the time fangirling and saying she admires this and that singer, and yet she never records with them?? Kind of strange

Not strange.

A female-female duet is just a much more difficult song to write (see: Tell Him... even for such an iconic duo they couldn't come up with something decent!)

(And not familiar with Ms Pausini but why would she expect Celine would do a duet with her?)

Posted

I actually don't really want Celine to do duets anymore. It's purely selfish because I want it all to be about her, and she's the one I want to listen to. Particularly on her album.

However, there's a lot of great artists out there that would give Celine great publicity if she collaborated with them, so it can benefit her in many ways.

I hope she is busy in the studio belting out new gems as we speak!

When I say belting.... I mean it!! Show us what you still have Celine!!!

Did Celine actually say no or was it her management/Rene. And btw.... whos Laura Pausini..... mkay.

In my mind, its far harder to find songs and situations which fit two women as a duet. Almost all of the songs proposed to her are designed to be Male/Female and 99% of duets are as such. Imo if she is willing to sing with Barbra Streisand theres no way she is “scared” or has “to big of an ego” to sing with anyone else. Whitney had just done it with Mariah and as we know was out of it during 85% of the period when Celine was “at her level” enough to do a duet (aka post 1996).

Mariah has always been stuck up and the only reason she sang with Whitney for that song was because she knew whitney wasnt what she once was. Mariahs been asked many times about duetting with Celine, Celine has always said yes, Mariah says no... why do you think that is ?

Then there are others such as Lara Fabian who already has the rep of attempting to copy Celines formula to success, so thats kind of out the window.

Again, examine almost all female discographies and you will find that 90-95% of their duet catalog is male/female. Mariahs done Whitney and Nicki Minaj... Whitney only did live duets with women to the best of my knowledge apart from Mariah. Barbra.... sang with Celine.

Many females in general (not just legends) very rarely duet with other women on records, and they duet slightly more often live.

Im still just waiting for Mariah to accept the fact that no one cares if Celine blows her out of the water...: WE JUST WANT THE LAST 2 OF THE 90S POWER VOCALISTS TO DUET BEFORE ITS TOO LATE

Laura Pausini is the Italian Celine Dion, who is famous worldwide, but not in the US and UK (like Lara Fabian).

And yes Mariah don't want a duet with Celine, because Celine would upstaged her. Mariah's voice is gone since the late 90s.

I wouldnt call Lara Fabian worldwide either but okay...

As for Mariah her vocal career goes as such :

1990-1996 : Amazing, impreccable. the height of her peak

1997-1999: Okay, a deeper, more raspy, thicker version of her previous years.

2000-2004 : Listen to performances from the Charmbracelet or Glitter era, actually very good. Her performance of Make It Happen in Zurich is like 1995 reborn

2005-2009: A hot mess. Many live whistles though

2010-2012 : She didnt do much

2013-2014 : Her beacon christmas concerts were sensational as were her vocals for this short period

2015-now : shes been on a pretty even slate since 2015, around a 6/10. Shes still blowing quite a few people out, she is however a shadow of her former self

Anyway away from Mariah.

I just want her and Celine to duet...

Well, if you say from the start "who's Laura Pausini" you start the wrong way dear, it proves again it's no worth to discuss anything with you :wtf: :sofunny: :sofunny: :sofunny:

Without pretending to ridicule you, but I'll show you how ridiculous you are with your ignorant posts...

For your information, if you don't know who Laura Pausini is, she has sold over 80 million albums in her career, so she has a couple of things to say in the industry and she has gained great respect worldwide singing not only in Italian and Spanish, but also has recorded in English and duets with Andrea Bocelli, Helene Segara, Kylie Minogue and legends like Luciano Pavarotti and Charles Aznavour too -oh same names as Céline!- (which you probably haven't heard of), so she has little to envy to Céline's collaborations because she has recorded with some of the same BIG names and even beyond that because she didn't limit herself to her native Italian language but also recorded with big artists in Spanish too (like Alejandro Sanz and Gloria Estefan or huge legends in Latin America like Juan Gabriel).

And to top it all, if that wasn't enough credit she also participated in the Spanish version of Michael Jackson's song "What More Can I Give" (Todo para ti) in 2001, next to other names like Julio Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Thalía, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey and... surprise! our Céline Dion too.

Who's Laura Pausini? Must be someone to be considered by Michael Jackson himself to collaborate with him :innocent:

She's a legend in Italy and a respected artist worldwide, and her popularity became so prominent specially in the latin/Spanish market during the last 15 years (a market that represents more than 50% of the music recorded and performed worldwide fyi). She's at the same level as Miguel Bosé, another hugely popular singer in Italian and Spanish worldwide (but you probably have no idea who this is again). And please note I'm not a big fan, but I know who is who in the industry despite not being a fan.

With posts like these and that arrogance of yours again you show no knowledge of many things sorry, from Celine's career to lots of names in the industry out there. Must be something about being just 18 I guess :hmm:

Please educate yourself a bit before speaking next time https://en.wikipedia...i/Laura_Pausini  :bye1:

Laura P. and L. Fabian are famous worldwide and sing in several languages, but both were never big in the UK and US. Because the record companies market them as Celine copies.
