2! Her last studio album was released in 2016!

:innocent:

I mean the english ones obviously.

And at this rate, this will actually be her longest period without new music, even longer than Taking Chances - LMBTL. 😁😁

At this stage i see it set for June 2019. Id say that’s extremely sensible. She has complete freedom in any sort of promo she wants to do. She has no constraints with her vegas schedule. Shell do a few pre recorded interviews, maybe SNL, maybe The Late Show, The Tonight show, Carpool kareoke, graham norton, jonathan ross etc. If i know Celine then she’ll probably announce a small US tour to back it up, and maybe a little European tour in winter.

Assuming that Céline herself *wants* to do any promo at all, which at this point of the story it's much to assume :giggle: ;)

But during the promo period she needs a GOOD hairstyle, like in the beginning of the 2017 tour where she looked gorgeous! Nothing freaky like during the Katy Perry concert and nothing that makes her look old.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. The new CD album and the Winds of Winter are the two things I am so much excited about, but they never release 'em! Maybe GRRM is involved in the new album, who knows. The Winds of Love.

Id love the 2017 tour length and volume, but a light - medium brownish colour. Either that or a dark blonde

I don't care about looks, hair or photoshoots as long as the music is great and singles start dropping anytime now.

And the new album needs GREAT MUSIC VIDEOS like this to promote it!!!

;)

oh yeah, that was a great video! one of the best she has ever done. :) But the song is not my favourite though

Celine's new album is going to be FABULOUS. There are so many wonderful people working very hard on it and -- instead of rushing it out fast -- Celine clearly wants to feel good about this new album and get it RIGHT. I'm sure it's incredibly daunting for her to release a new English album without Rene by her side to help call the shots.

As long as she's happy with it, we will too! I want it to be a project she believes in.

I really hope there's some cohesion to this album and something special about its sound. :thumbsup2:

Hopefully the new album will be what she wants and just let it be whatever it will be.

Remember: the general public is clueless that she’s been working on the album for so long. So it’s not a big deal that it’s been in the works for so long.

How long do some other artists take to collect / record songs for an album? Do others also record across long periods of time or do they usually do all the recording quickly once the songs are written?

For me — I think it will be lovely and pretty spectacular to listen to this album. It’s her VERY FIRST album released without ANY input from Rene. It will be a therapeutic experience listening to the songs Celine has chosen to record and all the emotion she’s been pouring into these songs over the past few years.

It’s almost like a collage of her emotions since Rene passed in 2016. It’s not just another album, and it makes sense she’s taking her time for emotional, personal, and professional reasons. She wants to get it right for herself and for Rene.

Well it depends, artists like Celine are different than an artist like Ed Shereen or Taylor Swift, you’re talking about an artist who receives demos, and records what they choose and an artist who has to write a song based on life, and experience. Yet somehow they are still releasing music very more often then Celine.

Yes but no matter how big Celine is she isn't at the top of the list for writers now a days, imo. Most songwriters will want to write for the newbies who are hot at the moment. She mentioned in an interview for LMBTL how they were unsure if they would get enough new music for an album and that that was the reason they were putting Vegas songs on the album, but once more music started coming in they started leaving Vegas songs behind and her excitement for the album increased.

I have a feeling that after Ashes she began receiving even more music.

There’s always songs going to Celine, her label may not like them or she may not like them but believe me I’m sure for every single album she has done, she has rejected songs that are even better than most of the songs they chose.

No doubt she receives songs but I don't think they come in the same quantity as before or as fast.

I HIIIIIGHLY doubt that! She's Céline Dion, she still receives dozends (hundreds) of songs every year and it's no secret every amateur singer would die for her to record one of the demos they sent her every year.

I never heard her say what you say about including Vegas songs because they feared not having enough new songs lol! :wtf: The Vegas concept was an obsession they had since the very start of it, they wanted to do half a new album and half a Vegas covers album no matter what, and despite all the rollercoaster the process was they carried it through in the end (with the disastrus mixed bag of songs that ended up being the LMBTL album).

Also that they didn't have enough songs received from renowned songwriters doesn't mean she still receives tons of songs from amateur songwriters around the world, but another thing is that they tend to disregard/overlook them because they're not coming from hot names in the industry (BIG mistake again) :)

The interview isn't on youtube I think (I looked but couldn't find it), I downloaded it from the media section of the forum. It's an Access Hollywood Live interview from September 12, 2013.

she says

"it did not feel at all like six years, but I'm glad it took that long because look at what they gave me as songs. I wish I could just take my guitar on the couch & just write...I don't. I'm at the mercy of songs. They're sending me songs, it was worth it to wait."

interviewer: Billboard magazine you said "I hope someone will write a song for me", were you really feeling vulnerable like that?

"I didn't know what to expect. The project started a little slower like, we're gonna do maybe 6 new songs, maybe 5, and we can just take songs from the stage, from the actual show so we'll have an album. We took it easy on our side a little bit, you know. The industry changed tremendously, I mean I understand my son, they're gonna write for Rihanna and Beyonce and...My heart will go on? It's been done, what are they gonna do? And finally, songs started to come in so we started to eliminate the repertoire of the stage, I was feeling good about that. Not that I feel like I'm starting my career all over again but I am feeling good. They want to write songs for me still, and I'm very thankful."

I don't think Celine cares much about how known a songwriter is because many of the songs on LMBTL aren't from famous writers, at least not ones I know. Same for some on the Taking Chances album. Ashes wasn't written by a famous songwriter but she took it because she loved the song.

Besides, we don't know what songs she's getting. You can't just say she's turning down better songs from unknown writers when you haven't even heard them. And a song can be amazing in your opinion but if she doesn't like it she doesn't have to record it.

Anyway, I hope you guys are right & I'm wrong and she is getting tons of songs sent to her. But from what Celine said in this interview I get the impression that while she does receive lots of songs they aren't coming in as fast or in the same amount as in the 90's or early 2000's. Or perhaps the songs she's getting aren't to her liking all that much so she has to wait until she gets enough she likes. We'll see what she says during the promotion of this album, I'm sure she'll get another round of "why did it take so long?" questions.

In any case, I do believe "Ashes" brought in a new wave of songs & songwriters interested in Celine again or even for the first time.

Well, judging by the multiple times we've seen her in the recording studio and the dozens of pics and posts from people she's been working with since 2 years ago, she must have recorded songs for at least 3 English albums lol :P

So I haven't been following much in Sept / Oct (too emotionally drained by Christine Blasey Ford, Jamal Khashoggi, Pittsburgh, evacuating twice (!) this week because of the MAGA bomber, and generally preoccupied by America's downward spiral) -- so can anyone catch me up?

Have there been any real album developments over the past 2 months, other than some Moccio & Greg Wells posts?

Sony is coming out with its quarterly earnings on Tue; maybe they'll have Celine in their forward release calendar?

I think by now they should have a date in mind right?

Coming back tomorrow for Vegas, so maybe we will get some album news.

Or maybe not and they keep posting in studio pictures the next months haha
