do you have a super audio cd player and do you know if it's still possible to buy one nowadays? Cause I'm really tempted to get it just to listen to the Celine CDs in that format

 

Yes I do. It's easy to get one second-hand on eBay and such. Sony BD players also read SACD format.

 

But regarding Céline albums in SACD, she only has two, All The Way and ANDHC.

 

FIY was also released past year but I don't even consider that a SACD mastering, it's a scam since I couldn't notice any multichannel mix on that version.

 

There's also Divas Live 1998 and Divas Las Vegas 2002 on the format

well i think mainly u can't play it in normal cd player... u need a special one with a good sound system (like many channel)

Reverb effect in the studio is truly pure bliss for the listening experience of the album later

 

The ANDHC (album version) in the Super Audio CD disc has some reverb effect and is really an orgasmic experience. The fading of the song with the part of "the rain come down" is gorgeous :wub:

Well it is very popular with classical music releases, there are lots of those released still

Though only two English album in the past ten years, it's such a wonderful gift for fans that Celine is also singing French, when she began recording new music, it two different language

album, so five album during ten years. it's normal timetable, and she give HDAMLF and Ashes during the gap

I don't think she would. Just look at her dip in sales between 2002 and 2003. ANDHC has sold 12 million copies worldwide, and OH has sold 5 million. People were there for the comeback hype and then it was over. IDAN didn't even crack the top 40 here in the US; a country where the music market is heavily gauged.

 

Cher just had a mini resurgence with "Mamma Mia" which put her name out there again.

 

Madonna is always trying to keep up with teeny boppers, so I'm not sure if it's a positive thing that teenagers know who she is. They may know who she is...but do they really care? I'm 32, and I haven't cared about Madonna in almost a decade.

 

Whitney Houston had one of the most publicized drug problems and deaths than any other celebrity of my generation. When she's trending on Twitter and all over every magazine cover because she died, of course people are going to take notice.

 

Celine had a mini fashion renaissance which gained her some noteriety with younger people.

 

 

But I bet you any amount of money, if you ask teenagers between the ages of 13 and 16 if they own any of these ladies' music (without taking it from their parents collections); I guarantee you that 9 out of 10 of them would say no. Or even be able to name a song other than MHWGO (and most likely calling it "the Titanic song).

 

That would be knowing OF Celine Dion. Not actually knowing Celine Dion.

I know "Ashes" is not old at all but in the same timeframe other unleash multiple duets, featurings, remixes, side projects and so on...

It's definitely a shame but it's quite expensive to get the full SACD experience i.e. multichannel and a lot of people don't seem to care about audio quality as much as audiophiles do. I've only got the adequate set-up to enjoy the stereo mix of a SACD, which is still awesome. I just wished the format stayed popular enough for a One Heart SACD release!

I'm also skeptical of that one since it was a Hong Kong release and I'm aware of SACD fakes out there. You might like the K2HD mastering of FIY though, it was remastered in Japan and I thought it was pretty pleasant sounding.

The K2HD and SACD were both made by the same company, Sony Music Hong Kong. It's just that the SACD medium in Hong Kong is not what it used to be. It's oversaturated with releases by record companies that release old albums in the SACD medium despite not doing much in the re-mastering process.

They were made by the same company but the K2HD CD was mastered in Japan using the K2HD mastering process then released in Hong Kong, I'm not sure about the SACD because it only credits Vlado Meller who was the original mastering engineer. If they used the original masters for the SACD then that would be great, but I'm kinda skeptical.

Must have changed also for those Sony Music executives with Celine, even when she doesn't need to move a finger to release a portion of the tons of unreleased material they have of her

 

That or the team in charge of Céline's releases at SM must have prioritised their families and children too, for doing absolutely nothing with her career at all in years

I get that they probably want to wait til Vegas is over or very close to over to release it so they can promote it well, but come on they need to be more active on social media. Since Aldo left it’s been terrible. They should start going live on Facebook sometimes when she’s in the studio, not saying to show us the song but have Celine talk about it, maybe have the producer speak a bit, give us something to expect.
