If it’s autotuned then, it’s not obvious unlike LMBTL album

 

Taking chances album

 

- sounds natural

- her vocals blends with the music

- her vocals are not loud and foward especially when doing belting high notes (it’s like there’s an auto volume or again her voice blends well with the music)

- her tone is is warmer compared to LMBTL where it sounds cool (more treble)

 

i think the use of reverb is so much less than in her earlier cds.

Dry vocals like in the songs on lmbtl could use more reverb to make it less dry. Though ashes has quite some reverb and it sounds great imo.

In Taking Chances album, the genre is a bit different that's why the use of reverb is less or nothing at all (except for some songs) BUT again her vocals BLENDS with the music here. It's not forward and her vocals are warmer here than in LMBTL (so more on treble side)

that's why in LMBTL album when doing high notes and belting it sounds direct and loud and low resonance - because of direct sound. Resonance sounds like your voice is getting far and like it surrounds everywhere (like it's a stereo lol) while the direct sounds (it's like a mono) and plus the autotuned vocals OMG! This is the least album played from my iPod

I'm still annoyed that Surprise Surprise wasn't a single. I think it would've been a hit.

No it wouldn't. Which market would it appeal to? It's a young song but Celine is not what young people are listening to on the radio. It's a good song but only Celine fans are listening to it.

I didn't realize that Celine's Vegas show doesn't start back until the very end of October....

 

What do we think she will do between now and then?

 

She deserves to RELAX... But I wonder if they are going to finalize the album, plan the remainder of Vegas, plan the next TOUR, etc. etc.?!!

i hope this year she will focus on her album. Promote that album on tv at Ellen and other talkshows and maybe a promotour in 2019?

It would be a real shame if The Show Must Go On, Recovering, How Does A Moment Last Forever and Ashes are on the “main” album and we only got 5/6 new songs after 5 years. well i would not be surprised if they do.. But i do not want that! Esspecially not tsmgo and recovering. First times she sang it was nice but i am.so fed up with this song! New material please. Ashes ans How Does a moment on the new cd, i am okay with that as long as this album consists of at least 17songs.

In a fast paced world like today where something is new *today* and tomorrow it's already old, an especially in a business where things move so fast like the music business, if they're including such songs like Recovering, TSMGO or HDAMLF as the main appeal to promote the album, guys we're f***** with our hopes (and I'm afraid the new album is too). I can already see the album stickers saying something like "including the hit singles The Show Must Go On (as performed in Billboards 2016), Recovering and How Does A Moment Last Forever...

 

Considering the amount of time it has passed since those songs were released, the only one who would deserve to be in the main album as per today would be Ashes (and if they got their s*** together they wouldn't even consider Ashes for the new album and offer all brand new songs after 5 years of waiting).The rest of songs is way too old material now. But knowing them...

You guys got me wrong: I didn't say physical format is dead, I said that releasing additional second discs or bonus discs is no longer a useful practice for record labels, since they started to offer that bonus material with downloadable codes via the artist's website and such. It's not profitable to put a second disc in the package for just 4-5 additional songs because they can fit in the main disc since albums got not so many songs as in the past (they release an album today with only 10 songs, while 10 years ago you needed 14-16 songs to consider an album finished). And it's not profitable to waste a second CD with only a few bonus songs unless that second disc is really full of material (for example not only containing a few bonus tracks but also remixes, demo versions, instrumentals etc).

 

In a nutshell, let's say Céline's new album will include in its standard version 12-14 songs. Those 4 singles she had released over these years can fit perfectly in the same disc without the need to include a second disc

And this is very different, you're talking about an album released in 2002, where the market was at its peak moment of releasing "deluxe" versions of albums, "special editions" with bonus tracks and DVDs etc and there wasn't iTunes nor digital downloads like today. They included 2-disc sets most of times because back in those days that was actually the only way to get that bonus material.

 

I'm the first one to buy a collector's album with additional content and I'm absolutely happy if they do that, but if the main disc clocks say at 50 minutes and we have to switch to another second disc to listen only 4-5 new songs, that's such a bore and impractical decision today for the listening experience of an album. Better put those songs together in the main album if they fit in the disc space

 

And like I said, it doesn't happen today anymore, for the simple reason that albums tend to be shorter today than 10-15 years ago (something that I must admit I hate) and all the bonus content is either going via iTunes or they put it in deluxe editions released at the same time as the standard CD or it's downloadable with a code in a website. I definitely want the BETHOVEEN VERSION of The Show Must Go On in the live version as a bonus track (no matter if on itunes or on the CD, I just want a professional reciording in high quality so bad)!!!! Copyright for a registered work lasts all the life of its author plus 70 years after his/her death, so it's a long wait to wait
