But I guess they said at the end of 2017, just to be safe to have enough time.

He said the process of chosing/recording songs would take 4 to 6 months.

 

So the album could be finished in May, and still be released in July/August during the possible tour.

 

If he would have said "spring" "summer" we all would go mad if it would be 2 months later haha.

 

Anyway I'm not so known in her process of recording an album, but isn't this a "normal" time? 4-6 months?

 

Or normally she would chose the 12-15 songs they want on the album, record them in 1 week an that's it?

 

Does this mean that maybe for this album she will really record 25 songs during this period and than choose which songs she really want?

 

Yes, 4-6 months is a normal time frame to record an album, I would even say it's still a "record" time, compared to many other artists. Usually many singers out there extend the recording process of a new album during a year or even more. They just record the different songs in different studios and during different months throughout a year or so. So 4-6 months is still a very short time.

 

Nothing to do with what Celine is used to, like she said, because most of her albums in the 90's have been recorded in weeks, not even a month, of recording time in the studio

Don't forget that, in Céline's case, recording an album in a short period of time (let's say a week or two) doesn't necessarily mean that it will end up being a bad album in a way.

 

For example, 'D'eux' was recorded in one week and look, it's the peak of her French discography for many fans.

 

If she picked one single producer (let's say David Foster), who had already prepared the songs and took a moment to explain his concept or idea to Celine and her team, just like Jean-Jacques Goldman did in 1995, I think we'd get an epic English album from Celine Dion.

I agree with that, Carlos. I'm not worried about her recording the new album in only weeks or less than one month as usual, I'm much more concerned about the direction and the producers she has to record the songs. If she has great producers who can make the most of her voice and take the best out of her, no matter she records a song in one day or one week, that producers will do wonders with her voice, if they know what they want to do with her and how to use it.

 

But if they're clueless with the concept and the direction of the album, if they have an assorted mix of producers that have nothing to do with each other in terms of music styles, and what's worst, if they keep chosing the wrong songs for her, namely covers, tunes that are already dated before they have been released and so, she can have all the time in the world to record the album, that it will be another mediocre disaster like LMBTL

 

All they need is 2 or 3 of the BEST music producers out there, who help her choose the songs, and a focus and a criteria on the selection process (stage on which they are now ). They don't need 15 different producers again, nor a whole year to record an album. Just need the passion to feel the songs and a little criteria to chose the best ones to make the final cut.

 

If only they got Glen Ballard for this album...

I do wish for David Foster. Because I think he prefers the clear, mellow-voiced Céline as opposed to gritty, dry Céline of recent days...

Céline's voice is soooooooo changing. And it has always been that way (even in the 90s, her voice was different from one album to another)..

 

As she 's getting older and as she doesn't "care" anymore... this is getting worse. That's why I don't like the fact that the album will be recorded on a larger timeframe.

 

We will have "different voices"...

There is no recipe of success for her English albums... All of them include covers, a variety of producers, some feature a variety of musical styles too... some work, some do not.

 

The only aspect of her albums that is up to real improvement is the lyrical content of her songs. During the 90s she would sing more mature songs than during the 00s and onwards. I miss introspective songs like Immortality, The Reason, Call The Man and I get easily bored with lullabies. I hope I listen to songs coming from a 48 years old woman which are directed to thinking adults of all backrounds, not just mothers who might play a tune at their kids party.

I must be in the minority here, but I really hope she stays miles away from people like David Foster and Diane Warren.

They represent exactly why "English Celine" has never been taken seriously as an artist.

Yes, they made bombastic songs with great melodies. They talked about big emotions. But they completely lacked soul.

 

They were successful, yes. But those were the nineties, when they were hot commodities, when they represented a fresh new sound in music.

When these same people try to make the same type of song now, it just sounds dated and uninspired.

I absolutely believe power ballads can and will make a come-back. But those ballads will not be composed by Diane Warren. They will not be produced by David Foster. And, sadly for many of us, they will not be sung by Céline Dion.

 

But that doesn't mean she doesn't have other alleys open to her.

 

I do agree that one writer and/or producer for the album would be a great idea.

It should be someone who is current, but hasn't done any big collaborations before.

Someone who's just under the radar enough to not overshadow the project.

Someone who many would consider 'too hip' for Céline, but who'd be personally honoured to work with her because he/she can see her as the masterful interpreter that she is (someone who is familiar with her french career perhaps?)

In short, the JJ-G from the English-speaking world

 

OR she could just full-out embrace the gay fanbase and release an album full of remixable club anthems à la IDAN!

Commercially, I'd say that's her safest route, at least in the short run.

I would love her to do powerballads again. Be it by david foster or Diane Warren or whoever that can write her a great song. Adele scored a hit with her Hello, Katy Perry with Rise, Beyonce had a hit with Halo..so the powerballad genre is still alive and now it's Celine's turn again. I want her to have new signature songs!

it is a lack of culture on my part i'm sure. We didn't hear much in Québec about the dodobird, we just know the ¨tourte¨another animal extincted that we used to make ¨tourtière¨. We still make it but with different ingredients.

Lol, well I think it went extinct because of the Dutch. Dutch sailors landed on Mauritius and ate them. But it was especially devastating to the dodo, the animals the sailors brought with them (dogs,ships rats etc) who ate them and the birds eggs. So no, not the British ☺for once!

And, not forgetting Lewis Carroll who put a dodo in Alice in Wonderland book.

Old collaborators like Aldo Nova or lesser known like John Shanks produced some of the more ground-breaking tracks on the album.
