It's not at all uncommon. Plenty of artists have done this kind of thing (https://en.wikipedia...es_and_Rarities - and that's just a shortlist of those actually titled "B-Sides and Rarities"!)

 

Gotta be creative releasing stuff these days. So why not try something they haven't done before? (And bracelets don't count.)

Sony has so much unreleased stuff stashed away. If they don't intend to put it on a 'real' album, make it a bonus / side release. Because yeah, we'll totally buy it.

WOW, she looked great in this interview. LMBTL was not my thing, but I'm exited about the next english album.

I hope she has good songs and good producers for it, she deserves it, she is Celine Dion.

She can take as much time they need. I'd rather have great album at the end of 2017 or even later than the tour with rushed mediocre album or no album at all.

 

That's it! I'd rather have a well crafted album from track 1 to the last one, with no fillers at all like ANDHC album was, no matter if it's released in 2017 or 2018 than a rushed tour with no new music to promote and the same old boring classics.

 

How long it's been since she hasn't released an English album with no fillers? I'd rather have a full year of her with no news but knowing that she's recording one of her best albums in the studio, than the umpteenth tour with the same robotic performances again.

Gosh I absolutely hope it won't be the cover for the album. It's a good cover for Recovering since it reflects its sad yet uplifting mood, but it would be the biggest fail ever to feature this photo on the album cover...

I will even go further with this ... I would not put the song on the album at all. The song is a beautiful tribute. It was a very personal statement that deserved the single release it got. Might not fit the future release.

I certainly hope not!!! 1) the photo isn't that good IMO and 2) Let's just hope she'll do a new photoshoot for the album, reflecting the new album's spirit!

She needs to do something challenging. Her best albums and songs (all 90's) were challenging. Bombastic vocals and powerful songs, which are what she does best, without a doubt.

 

After the tasteless One Heart, Taking Chances and after six f****** years Loved Me Back To Life, we need something that does do at least A New Day Has Come justice.

My only worry is that she will do no promo in Europe for the album if she tours beforehand... Much like with EUS... I hope the tour is at the end of the year rather than summer as this way she can promote at the same time!

I´m Ok with waiting for new album till the end of 2017, EUS is still new (so it may have longer life ...even if it would be reality). And I´m happy that this time she wants take a time for working on new album it´s very good sign. About promo I think it´s also depends about when album is out, iif tour will be in summer and album out in november for example I think she will do some promo but who knows maybe finally album will be out earlier. I still can't believe TC will be 10 years next year!

 

That's her last "complete" album : 16 songs, one mood. Very challenging songs.

 

To me, this album was " ok, I've been away for 5 years but I'm still the queen of vocals".

 

I was so blown away by what she could still do vocally and re-invent herself with notes and ways of singing never heard before from her.

 

I mean: who on earth could sing "that's the woman in me" and then "skies of L.A."?

 

I think that she put herself so much in this album - vocally speaking and especially after those vocally poor Vegas years (Miracle) that the mixed reception of the album made her ,artistically speaking, a bit lost.

 

It makes me smile when she says ' We've been trying new stuff"... well, she said the same when working on LMBTL and it ended up with an half-album ( to me).

 

I have so many ideas for her... so Céline, just call me if you need help

Taking Chances is the last english album that was perfect. Her voice, the photoshoots, no auto tune was present. It sounded so natural unlike LMBTL. Sounds to forward. Everytime she sings that Liiiiiiiife i lowered down the volume because her voice is loud unlike in TC albums her voice just blends with music not too loud/forward. I hope her upcoming English Album her voice will sound natural. no auto tune and blends with the music.

she says in La Presse that they are trying songs in the studio, isn't it the first time she does this , working in the studio working to know what songs will fit... I think that her next album will be be much more personal... And maybe will be loaded with the boring stuff i love...

Taking Chances is the last english album that was perfect. Her voice, the photoshoots, no auto tune was present. It sounded so natural unlike LMBTL. Sounds to forward. I think the problem with LMBTL is that it never had a clear focus. Initially, it was going to be 1/2 Vegas songs and 1/2 new songs, and was going to be called "Water and a Flame"... Then, after being pushed back twice, it became an album of (mostly) new songs with 2 Vegas tracks on the standard and 3 on the bonus (if you include Japan's bonus of "Open Arms"). It was recorded over 2-3 years if I remember correctly, which gave it even more of an incomplete feeling.

 

The result was an album with GREAT moments ("Breakaway," "Didn't Know Love," and "Thankful")... and BIG misses ("Save Your Soul" and "Overjoyed").

 

"Taking Chances" was a fantastic album, and I still wish we would've heard "Surprise Surprise," "I Got Nothin' Left," or "Map to My Heart" live.

 

I'm hoping we get a COMPLETE album like "Encore un soir," but with ZERO covers. I don't even want them as bonus tracks! Haha.

But I guess they said at the end of 2017, just to be safe to have enough time.

He said the process of chosing/recording songs would take 4 to 6 months.

 

So the album could be finished in May, and still be released in July/August during the possible tour.

 

If he would have said "spring" "summer" we all would go mad if it would be 2 months later haha.

 

Anyway I'm not so known in her process of recording an album, but isn't this a "normal" time? 4-6 months?

 

Or normally she would chose the 12-15 songs they want on the album, record them in 1 week an that's it?

 

Does this mean that maybe for this album she will really record 25 songs during this period and than choose which songs she really want?

 

I don't sympathise with the idea of a new tour in 2017 without a new album to present. Not excited about that at all...

Reading this discussion makes me appreciate the wisdom of Celine for saying ''you cannot please everyone''...
