SlovakClark Posted December 18, 2016 at 12:54 AM Posted December 18, 2016 at 12:54 AM I think some of you might have forgotten that Celine is not an "artist artist" like Bjork or Kate Bush or whoever who experiments with sound of music etc... She is more an artist in a singing way, she does art with her voice, but not with music, which is a shame, because Id die if she covered herself with crazy sounds, sort of like Beyonce did with her last two albums, she found an amazing way to stay relevant, not doing hit songs anymore, instead of that doing kinda crazy "artistical" albums. But at the end of the day, shes still got some spark in her, Im so glad she doesnt follow the boring Streisand way but tries to reach to new singers like Sia , Adele etc. if she just stays in this road until the end, I will be more than happy 5 Quote http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/320x240q90/853/qwz9.jpg

I know that very well. Big fan of music here. I realise she'll never produce her stuff. As you say she's a singing artist. This is totally fine. That's where great producers are needed! Those who create production art , encourage singing artists to sing in certain way etc. Like Stewart Price in Madonnas's Confession on a dance floor. Or Herbie Hancock during her jazz recording session we will probably never hear... This kind of people. I'm against of producers and writers who are not original. Sure they can deliver a potential hit (that's another story) but it would most likely sound like something we heard hundred times. Plus Celine has tendency to imitate someone else. That's not singing art. That's why I believe at this point they need some fresh blood. Some independent producers who work for passion not money. Then I'm pretty sure they will together create some art! And yes! I'm obsessed with art and I'm not ashamed of it! Edited December 18, 2016 at 12:28 PM by BartFCS 5 Quote
LukeD Posted December 18, 2016 at 08:19 PM Posted December 18, 2016 at 08:19 PM The problem with Celine going for a more artistic direction (for whatever that means) is that the process itself will not mean much to us unless we actually like the material she records. I guess we can all admire her effort, but the material has got to be good enough for us to connect with. So, in a way, I think that all discussions come to down to the same point: that her songs, no matter the genre or her singing approach, have got to be of quality. This pretty much explains why people, generally speaking, prefer her 90s catalogue compared to her 00s albums, despite the fact that Celine took much more chances and was more experimental with her material and performances from 00s onwards. The final point is that I can be satisfied with Celine giving us yet another pop ballad album, playing it safe, as long as this album includes some mature, carefully crafted music. 6 Quote

LukeD Posted December 19, 2016 at 10:07 PM Posted December 19, 2016 at 10:07 PM (edited) This time I will not judge anything until I listen to the entire record and to what each writer/musician/producer offered. There have been several examples of big names (Ne-Yo, Diane Warren, Aldo Nova, Tricky Stewart) that worked with Celine on Taking Chances and Loved Me Back To Life resulting into songs that were disappointing for me. Plus, sometimes it is just hard to predict what kind of song each songwriter will come up with. For exampe, I could never see a song like Recovering coming from Pink or My Love coming from Linda Perry! So yes, this time I will try not to anticipate anything! Even after "Glitter In The Air" or "I Don't Believe You"? You couldn't see Pink writing "Recovering"? I wasn't too shocked by it. 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

I wasn't too shocked by it.I only own her 2010 compilation and I am just familiar with her greatest hits. Just noticed IDBY is included there, but it was not enough to make me expect Recovering mostly due to the fact that the rest of the album gave me a different impression of her musical style. I knew her lyrics can be sentimental but Recovering comes off as more sensitive than the average Pink song! Guess if I had paid more attention to her catalogue, then I would have known that a song like Recovering was possible! 1 Quote

She comes off as such a real and relatable person through her music. She's got attitude, shows a fun side and then she gets vulnerable, sentimental, and sensitive. She shows so many facets of herself, and then when you hear her speak, it ties it all together. I just adore her. 6 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
Shaun Posted December 20, 2016 at 04:35 PM Posted December 20, 2016 at 04:35 PM Personally I'd welcome Foster back with open arms. When he worked with Celine she was driven and dedicated to achieving results and, frankly, she did all she could to impress him and it shows in the recordings she worked on with him. Even during the dark "Miracle" years the tracks he worked on were the better ones. Whenever she performs live with Foster (Grammy's, World Children's Day etc) she ups her game too. I get that times move on but Celine has worked with loads of new people and tried different things over the past 15 years to varying degrees of success however perhaps it's time to return to what she did best and what achieved the best results in her (English) career. Just my opinion. 6 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

A good summary of why ANDHC is such a unique and great album I've always wondered why they decided to remove Super Love from the US and Canadian pressings of the album. Even that bubblegum song and its fast lyrics add something to the ensemble and it's fun to listen to. And the Spanish song, Aun Existe Amor... LukeD Posted December 20, 2016 at 08:57 PM Posted December 20, 2016 at 08:57 PM (edited) Oh I hate SuperLove. But AEA I adore! It is part of the European Edition of the album and while I think it is a fun song, I also feel that it cheapens the album. Both musically and lyrically. Only song in ANDHC that does that. AEA is as good as a song that has been adapted to another language can be! And her voice soars! Definitely an album highlight! I have 2 versions of the album, the original one from here and the 2nd version. I never listen to the album from start to finish. I only did that when I first got it lol. I'll continue to just listen to the songs I like, and in what order I wish thanks 😆😂Actually I can't think of any of her english albums that I'd describe as perfect, no matter what edition.
