scielle Posted June 19, 2022 at 02:27 PM Posted June 19, 2022 at 02:27 PM (edited) Lots in this article about the genesis of the show and just all-around love of Céline:Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet“ As scary as it was for Mindelle to play her idol, she ultimately found a way in. “I started watching a lot of videos and realized, wait a second, Marla, you're in love with her,” says Mindelle who also starred as Olivia in the Netflix series Special. “Channel how much you love her. And hopefully that love will come through.”[…] While Dion hasn’t seen the show yet, some of the people who work closely with her, like David Foster, who wrote all her iconic songs, have. Foster has called the show “outstanding.”As Mindelle points out Titanique is a great love letter to the singer. “I try to celebrate her on stage and never make fun of her at all,” she says. “It’s sounds so silly, but she gives me the confidence to be the best performer.” And what would Mindelle do if Dion should happen to show up at The Asylum Theatre to experience Titanique? “I would literally die and say to her, ‘can you just do the show?,’” says Mindelle. “I’d say, ‘Here's the script. Just walk around and do it.’” Also, if you haven’t been following, she and other cast members & producers have been posting lots from & about the show on their socials lately.https://instagram.com/stories/marlamindelle/2864068688930283239?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=https://instagram.com/tyeblue1?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=https://instagram.com/titaniquemusical?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Edited June 19, 2022 at 02:39 PM by scielle Quote

scielle Posted June 27, 2022 at 04:08 AM Posted June 27, 2022 at 04:08 AM Went to see Titanique tonight and it was a boatload of joyful fun!Clearly made by Celine fans, for Celine fans. The singing was top notch, the cast excellent and the performances so committed. It's in a little comedy club "in a basement of a Gristedes" (a NY chain of grocery stores, kind of a running gag in the show), but the performances are absolutely Broadway caliber. They've got the steamy hand-on-windshield scene, the ship breaking in half, the guy falling on a propeller, even the Who Let the Dogs Out/ Who Let Celine Out "deep cut" Other songs in the show: A New Day, All by Myself, Beauty & the Beast, I Drove All Night, I Surrender, I'm Alive, If You Asked Me To, MHWGO, River Deep Mountain High, Seduces Me, Taking Chances, Tell Him, The Prayer, To Love You More, You and I, Where Does My Heart Beat Now, Who Let the Dogs Out.You can see the program here: https://titaniquemusical.com/program/ Lots of Celine love all around, including on the signage 3 Quote

He is! And he’s been promoting it quite heavily (on socials and in interviews). He was also on the Playbill float during the Pride parade yesterday, wearing Titanique garb, and some others (cast members? I didn’t quite see) were walking with Titianique signs and handing out flyers. I think cheapest tickets can be had through TodayTix or with TheatreMania discount (TMANIA discount code). Anyway, forgot to mention, but Jack doesn’t quite die. Well, he does, but Celine’s voice brings everyone back to life and Jack learns to play poker, moves to Vegas, and changes his name to Rene Angelil. 😆 Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet Edited June 27, 2022 at 11:56 PM by scielle 1 Quote

Chantemoi Posted June 28, 2022 at 09:30 PM Posted June 28, 2022 at 09:30 PM Ive notice that you have to subscribe to it Yes. That’s how it works these days. In order to stay afloat (pun intended), the few surviving newspapers allow you to read a certain number of articles for free - then you have to pay. Remember the newsstands of yore? You couldn’t stand there on the corner reading the paper for free, otherwise they wouldn’t make profits to cover the cost of their reporters, office employees, overhead, etc. Same principle here, but rather than have you pay for each days “paper” they want you to subscribe. scielle Posted July 14, 2022 at 04:41 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 04:41 AM (edited) So I met Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante tonight!Went to the New York premiere of Notre Dame de Paris (well, premiere is technically tomorrow with a Bastille Day gala, but today was the first and only preview), and both were there and happy to shake hands with people. For all the success this show has had - playing in multiple countries & in multiple languages for over 2 decades - it's never been staged in New York. Until tonight! And in its original French, with subtitles. Excellent production, and though I'm used to the voices of the original cast - Garou, Bruno Pelletier, Patrick Fiori, etc - the casting was great. And Daniel Lavoie reprised his role as Frollo. Lots of Celine shout-outs in the program (after all, they've all worked with her ;-) And this all proves to me one thing I've been saying here for a while - Celine could absolutely do a mini-residency entirely in French in a city like New York, or London, and probably a few others around the world (at a venue like Lincoln Center, Royal Albert Hall). There's more than enough demand here. Lots of expats, or just people who love the culture or are accustomed to performances in foreign languages (after all, they sit though 4-hour German operas with subtitles!)The show I saw tonight played at David Koch Theatre, at Lincoln Center, which is a large, cavernous space, much bigger than Broadway theaters. And it was pretty much full. This was initially supposed to be a 1-week run, but hey extended to 2 weeks due to popular demand. And if NDDP can do that, Celine can no doubt fill a similar-sized venue, singing in French, for 2 weeks or more. I truly hope one day it happens... This one called Titanish. https://www.broadwayworld.com/seattle/article/Review-TITANISH-at-Seattle-Public-Theater-20220716 I finally saw Titanique a few days ago, and it was so worth it!! I did feel that “Céline” (and the rest of the cast, for that matter) was upstaged a bit by the man playing “Rose’s mother”, who delivered THE BEST lines and had me in tears of laughter with her hysteric breakdown. But I digress… the Céline songs were woven in seamlessly to the narrative and the actors/singers did them all justice. Every character had their moment to shine, and I was delighted some more obscure songs were highlighted (namely “You and I” and “Seduces Me”). The grocery store basement made for an intimate venue, and even though it was a Tuesday night, there wasn’t an empty seat in the room! Great crowd, and everyone seemed to love it! Run, don’t walk, to see this show!! 1 Quote

PuraVida Posted August 2, 2022 at 10:54 PM Posted August 2, 2022 at 10:54 PM Based on the "Tell Him" video, and some stuff I saw on their social media, it looks like a very well-written show. One forgets just how beautiful that song is, by the way. But something tells me I wouldn't like her impersonation of Celine. Being big fans, I am sure we all are quite sensitive and with high standards of her impressions. To me, it kind of seems like a rehashing of Kathy Griffin's impression. I'd still definitely see the show, but I imagine I would be taken out of it by the Celine. p.s. I feel Laura Landauer still has the best Celine Quote
