What do you all think of her Celine Dion?

 

All of the women who played in Titaníque went for the comedy side... so all of they are over emphasing Celine as a caricature.

But from the three, Jackie sings with more beauty and "natural" voice... I like it...

Agreed. It’s annoying when they sing Celine with an over-exaggerated accent.

 

So it’s nice that she sings with a pretty voice.

had the chance to watch the musical... and OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!!

it's hilarious, it's PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!!

the arrangements are perfection, they mixed up songs, and the result is so amazing!

some songs are the traditional version, some are new versions to match choir...

I'm amazed!!!

 

Jackie Burns is a FORCE OF NATURE.... and her singing voice is SO DELIGHTFUL...

 

to those who live in the USA, go see the musical!!!!

 

Titaníque is a MUST SEE for the fans!

every single actor is amazing in this show, but the one who plays Rose's mom is an ABSURD !!!!

 

I love Drew! I’ve seen him play Rose in “Golden Girlz Live” in Los Angeles.

When I saw the show in 2022, Ruth was played by a different actor (Ryan Duncan) but either way he had me in tears I was laughing so hard. I still chuckle to myself over some of the lines “she” delivered. :lmao:

Yes, the over-exaggerated nasality and accent bothers me when I see it in Celine impersonations, but a caricature is a caricature I suppose.

So I went to see Some Like it Hot on Broadway tonight, because wanted to catch it before it closes at the end of the month. As a reminder, this is the Tony-winning production where Mariah is one of the producers, and her bio in the playbill says, among other things, that “she’s the best-selling female artist of all time with more than 200 million albums sold”… huh?

 

Anyway, it’s wild how many Broadway plays have come and gone during the time Titanique has been playing (in its admittedly smaller venue). Just of the 5 Best Musical nominees at this year’s Tonys, 3 of the 5 already closed (and all opened way after Titanique).

That silly little show has really been such a sweet success. I hope Céline gets to see it.

"When her producers came to the show, I was very nervous sitting next to them. I was worried that it was going to be too quirky, too sexy, too vulgar. She has a brand, an image, and all we ever wanted to do was lift her up in a fun way.”

 

Blue adds, “I took her producer, John Nelson, backstage to greet the actors. He’s a wonderful man. So he goes backstage and instantly gets emotional. He said, ‘We’re accustomed to hearing these songs every day, but we don’t get to hear them right now. It’s really special and important that you guys are out here keeping this going for us while she’s going through this.’ I could feel his pain.”

 

“We remain hopeful that she’s coming back, so we’re holding out hope that she’ll push through,” Blue concludes. “I always say we’re like her brand ambassadors while she’s offstage. We’re going to keep these songs on the radio. People are going to come to see this. And they’re going to keep loving Céline Dion.”

 

Re. rights to songs they were unable to get:

 

"The most devastating loss in the music-clearance process was “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” which was originally used for the opening number of Titanique. “That song was f****** perfect because it’s all about her remembering what really happened,” Blue recalls. “It’s also full of style and glamour and theatricality. It was a golden opening number.”

“We lost that one because it was in Bat Out of Hell: The Musical. We lost ‘The Power of Love,’ I think because the songwriter was just like, ‘Nah, I’m going to say no because I can.’ And another one was ‘That’s the Way It Is.’ We lost because it’s in & Juliet, which they knew was coming to Broadway.”"

OMG I would love to see the openning number with It's All Coming Back To Me Now!!!!

One of the creators told in an interview that they did a preview version of the show with the song in it... so all the denied songs must have been in that early performance...

The musical is PERFECT!!!!

I really hope someday Celine herself will go and see it...

 

And on a side note, last sunday was the last performance of Jackie Burns in the show (my favorite Celine Dion)... She will be missed!

We saw Titanique when we were in New York. Fantastic show and incredibly obvious how much affection the production team have for Celine.

Elsewhere, Deuxmoi claims Calista Flockhart and Saoirse Ronan were at Titanique on Thurs.

 

I’m continually impressed by this little show’s staying power. I still see occasional posters for it around NYC, long after other big-name shows have come and gone. This just keeps chugging along in its little off-Broadway theater.

Here’s hoping Céline’s well enough to see it before it closes.

When I saw Sweeney Todd in December with Josh Groban they had Titanique in the playbill. I was happy to see that.

 

I get so many instagram reels of Titanique as well. Obviously its because I listen to Celine but its nice that theres some type hype going around
