Second single: "Incredible" - Duet with Ne-Yo

For me Cher's album is cheap, predictable, uninspiring and dated as hell. This album is a carbon copy of a mash-up of Believe and Living Proof. No wonder this era turned into a massive disaster for Cher. Probably this wouldn't have happened if she would have stuck to the idea of releasing a promising hardcore dance album like she was claiming so in 2012 :

Ummm...Cher's tour is pretty much sold out. In the states as of this month, she has sold between 285-290,000 copies of her album. That's pretty much right up there with Celine's LMBTL in the US, where Cher primarily promoted her album aside from a little bit in the UK. So, being that Cher didn't really do a huge worldwide promotion for this album, it really is not to be considered a flop based on what general sales figures actually are today.

 

I agree that sales figures don't mirror quality. There are endlessly talented artists out there releasing music who none of us will never hear of -- because they just don't have a platform to be heard.

 

But that's where I stop agreeing what you've said....

 

Celine Dion's new album is not "boring like hell". I suppose it's just taste. Nothing against Cher, I think she's great. But her music is certainly not my taste. I'm curious to know if you like Celine's album ONE HEART? If so, then we just have very different taste.

 

Celine's new album showcases to me that her vocal power is stronger than ever. And what an amazing thing that is. If this era has done nothing else -- it showcases to us, both through live performance and recorded songs, that her voice is in top shape these days. How is that even possible after so many years of live performances? It's astonishing to me. Look to her peers -- Whitney, Mariah -- and compare. Celine has respected her gift and has taken all of the necessary steps to maintain her talent.

 

This era has also shown us that Celine still finds joy in all of this. Her performances -- when she was feeling confident vocally -- had the sort of vitality and infectiousness that her 90s performances so often had. I am so thrilled to have seen that again!!!

 

I'm not a big fan of blanket statements like "Celine is limited to Vegas and that is more obvious than ever before since this album." Where is the foundation for this argument? I understand we are ALL frustrated that Celine does not want the success as much as we want it for her. And her team absolutely does not approach promotion in the ways we would. But, between SA and LMBTL, Celine has had all kinds of impressive, untouchable success.

 

So... How is her career limited to just Vegas? Has she truly not had any success outside of Las Vegas, Nevada? Has LMBTL not sold outside of Vegas? Was SA not her most successful French album in years? I'm just curious to know more of what you're trying to say/prove?

 

Lastly, and this is to all of us:

 

What is the point of harping on negativity? I'm all for constructive and honest conversations about her career. But, at the end of the day, Celine is such a stunning, stunning, stunning talent. How glorious it is that she's had the success she's had in her life. But if every other person on this planet stops buying her records and stops going to her concerts -- I know that I will still be there. And my guess is a lot of you guys will be too. Because it's not about the success of a record anymore. It's about Celine.

 

When Rene is gone, Celine will retreat totally into her personal life and fade away. I feel it in my bones. So I treasure any music she releases. Any glimpse into her personal life she gives us with interviews. Any concert she offers.

 

Can we just take a breath and be appreciative of Celine's talent? That's not looking at Celine through "pink glasses". Celine's voice is why I am a fan. Her grounded persona is what keeps us all committed. And the fact that this poor girl from Quebec has the most spectacular voice I've ever heard in my life is why I will always remain committed.

 

We get lost in the haze of frustration with promotional stuff and the jealousy of other artists and the comparison to other artists, etc. and we forget why we're fans in the first place. I feel good being a Celine Dion fan. She is classy and intelligent (more than we even know) and she has grown to be more in control of her life as the years pass by. Which is why right now she's at home rolling around on the floor with her kids, having a blast. And we're worrying about her career's future! She spent her entire life chasing her dream. And, now, she's reevaluated and changed her priorities. And that' fine.

 

So let's just take a step back and appreciate the talent and the woman. And anything else from here on out is just icing.

Are you saying that Celine did a huge worldwide promotion tour for her album? That's ridiculous. Celine's promo was mainly in focused the U.S and then she did a few TV shows in Frabnce, UK and Germany like Cher. So in term of promo, they're pretty much equal. The difference is that Celine managed to sell 1.4 million copies and Cher only 400.000 copies. It's easy to tell which one of them flopped in term of worldwide sales with similar promo.

 

 

As for single for ''Incredible'', I wish they'd have included the version of Save Your Soul with the rap interlude. It'd be nice to have a HQ digital version of this song.

Celine did a mini tour first of all, and on a global scale, Celine's name spans further than Cher's. Their careers are completely different. Where Celine was not only popular in the U.S. and the U.K. (the two biggest music markets in the world), she was also popular in Australia, Japan, France, Ireland, Germany, China, South America, as where Cher is a very domestic artist. Not even near the international status that Celine has. Cher was mainly popular in the U.S. and the U.K. and maybe a little bit in Germany. Not saying that she doesn't have popularity in other European countries because her Farewell tour did span into smaller countries...but as far as major music markets go, Cher only really hit 2 of them. Her last tour she did 2 months in Europe as opposed to the 3 years she toured in her domestic North America. Celine has a much further reach. But as far as sales go for Cher, her album was not a flop for todays standards.

now about the topic of the song incredible and its music video (that was now made over 3 weeks ago btw): now im not trying to be a negative nelly here but im starting to wonder about this video ever seeing the light of day now since lately there has been so many things and events that were supposed to happen when it came to the lmbtl album altogether during the past couple of months but that didnt happen at all: incredible being played @ the olympics, and i have been watching the olympics almost every evening, (except for the evenings that i had to work, then on those evenings i watched the reruns of the olympics nbc showed later on), and just like the rest of you, i also havent heard incredible being played at all and since the olympics will be over next week (since the winter olympics only last for a few weeks anyway), i highly doubt the song or video will be played at all, and i think its just another false promise from sony and her team... just like with the appearance she was supposed to make on the tonight show w/ jay leno a few weeks back that also didnt happen (and even with jimmy fallon being the new host of the show i dont see celine being on there again since jimmy had already interviewed her a few months on his old show and it seemed like to me that he didnt really like her that much, so i dont most likely see her appearing on the tonight show in the future ever again sad to say but being honest)... and now with the video itself i wonder if sony will allow the video being released and all, since the song didnt make it on the charts or radio at all and the winter olympics didnt pick up the song at all, im hoping and praying that im wrong about this, but in my honest opinion i really think the sony might have decided to shelf this video like they did w/ many of celines older videos from the 80s, 90s, and the early 2000s that they didnt release and we didnt get to see those wonderful videos until many years later when they were uploaded on youtube by fans in very recent times... so i dont know if thays what sony will try to do w/ incredibles music video will they decide to shelf it for years then we have to wait too see the video when maybe hopefully somebody will upload it on youtube, the way that things have been handled w/ sony and celines team when it comes to celines current album here in the usa (since she doesnt seem to have this similar problem in many other countries, it only seems like the usa right now doesnt like celine or lmbtl which is a travesty), if that ended up happening w/ incredibles music video, sad to say i wont be any surprised at all... i hope im wrong but it shouldnt take them several weeks to finish the video now a tv show episode or a movie i can totally understand, but not a 4-minute music video, i mean what else are they planning to do w/ that video, i mean come on seriously folks lol... **le sigh, le sigh**... :(
