I feel truly sorry for those individuals who believe success is measured by money. Just because someone has earned lots of money doesn't make them successful.

 

The success does not have to be measured by the dollar. The dollar amount reflects the demand of people wanting to see her. The demand for tickets is what the real success is, not the dollar amount. I believe that is the point Luke was trying to convey.

There are different ways to measure success. If you simply claimed she was no longer successful as a current relevant radio artist, then you might have an argument (although it's arguable depending upon the region), but to make a general claim that grossing a ton of money from a tour doesn't validate success is flat-out not based in reality. What's more, from a truly objective point of view, artists make more money from tours/residencies these days than album sales, especially veteran artists like Celine who can command a pretty penny for tickets.

 

Secondly, I love how you totally ignored the latter part of his comment concerning the phenomenal success of "Sans Attendre".

 

 

 

Again, irrelevant to the issue of "success" in general. Even if we were talking about current commercial relevance, how many artists 30 years into their career manage that? Naming a handful of exceptions doesn't prove anything against the rule, either. But nooooo, it's all Rene's fault, he ruined the fact that Celine's not as hot as Rihanna and Miley on the charts right now.

wow i agree with this podt 100%, i really like this post & luke-ds posts as well on this particular subject, its alot of factors that now have affected celines popularity here in the usa, sony is one of them cuz sometimes they dont make the greatest decisions about everything (like for example whats currently happening with the music video for incredible which i think they should have made and released that video several weeks back after celine and ne-yo performed the song on the voice finale, the video could have been filmed the week after then the video vould habe released within the first couple of weeks im january since the song was released as a single by then according to celines team, sony records, the red heads, and even ne-yo himself on twitter, and the christmas music had already stopped being played by then ad well so there shouldnt have been anymore excuses with the music video not being done and now that celine and ne-yo had finally filmed the video during the last week of january, and now its the middle of february almost valentines day and almost 3 weeks this weekend since that video was filmed, that video should be completed by now and they should have it released by now or hopefully are getting ready to release the video really really soon, like asap lol... and i dont think that every single decision that celine and rene make is perfect either i may not agree with everything that sony records, celines team, or even celine and rene themselves do or every decision that is made about her music including albums and songs... (i cant say anything about any of celines concerts, even the vegas shows, since i have never seen celine in concert yet, i have seen lots of videos of her concerts on youtube and i have enjoyed most of them, but i havent seen any of her show in person, so im not gonna complin about anything regarding her concerts and vegas shows, so i have no right to judge something that i havent had the chance too see for myself yet)... I live in South Carolina. And yes this is the first time In years that we have gotten a snow like this....completely white everything lol! We got some snow a couple of weeks ago but it started one evening and was gone by the morning.

The snow we just got lasted 3 days and now it is turning to slush lol! Thankfully we didn't lose power though, a lot of towns around us did.

Walking the dogs in the snow wasn't that bad because they LOVED IT, but then it started sleeting yesterday and everything got hard. I'm surprised they didn't break their legs. One is pretty old and she just kept falling when her feet would suddenly break through the snow lol!

 

I love the south, but it is very humid here..especially Florida! I'm miserable in the Summer unless I'm near water. I have a love hate relationship with both Summer and Winter! The summer can be too hot and the winter can be too cold I've actually loved winter this year though!

It's as if Sony doesn't want success in the main markets... Celine really needs to pack up and go. We've seen this happen over and over again with wrong singles and bad promotion. This would be the way to get Open Arms, in my opinion, the only good Vegas cover (except for HDYKTMP) to be released worldwide, along with a new remix of LMBTL.
