I didn't expect anything but I was daydreaming that maybe she'd surprise us and would appear during opening ceremony... Now, if NBC won't use Incredible, I don't believe that this video would make a change... It won't be something breathtaking... but yes, we'll get it sooner or later

Maybe I'm getting confused or you are getting confused.... I think it never was said the song would be in the Olympics... Not in any ceremony... What I understood is that NBC was using this song for the olympics in his channel, what I guess it is that they would use it as soundtrack for promos and advertising, video compilations etc... more or less like a "jingle" for the channel related to the olympics... Here at least (in spain) it is very common to use a famous song to make video compilations of championships, tv series, etc... for example, they were using in one channel lana del Rey "Young and Beautiful" to make advertising of one national tv series...

Yes, NBC is just using it as a winners anthem, so to speak. I never heard anywhere that they'd actually be at the Olympics. Just posted this to other topic as well, but here's an ad they're using:

I'm honestly baffled with what's gone on with the album in the USA.

 

Sony (quite rightly) pushed for Celine to make a more modern album than was originally planned. They got a song from the most in demand song writer in the world with "Loved Me Back To Life" and let's be honest it doesn't get much more "hip" or "current" than having Ne-Yo on board. Just nothing is working in the USA. As much as it pains me to say it's pretty clear that she's falling sharply from relevance in the USA and it's sad to see.

 

I think this is now the last album we'll see Celine (and Sony) going for a "fresh modern sound" and even attempting to remain relevant as it's clear Celine now has her stable 1.5 -2million stable fanbase around the world regardless of what language she releases an album in.

 

This happens to every artist of course at some point and Celine has had incredible peaks in her career which she was never going to maintain but I just find the situation in the USA baffling.

I was watching the opening ceremonies today and during one of the commercial breaks Air Canada had a commercial for their airline and as it's playing I'm thinking I've heard the song in the background before. Next thing I hear is You and I were meant to fly. I know it's not Incredible but I thought it was interesting that they've used You and I again.

Rightfully so. The song was not a hit and it is not as memorable as most fans think it is. It was only released in Japan and it was successful there so that's good. But I really wouldn't expect Billboard to include the song in any list.

I agree that this will probably be her last English attempt at a "modern" sound as it really has done nothing to widen her fan base in the USA or appeal to a "younger" crowd. I think she will continue to wow us with amazing French albums like "Sans attendre" as internationally, she seems to have more clout. In terms of English releases, we will probably not see another one for quite some time (5+ years I would imagine) and I can see it being an album of standards (a la what Gloria Estefan released last year) or a jazz album.
