He can PUSH for these things to be timed. We're now going into two months since she performed the song live on the Voice. I say no video was planned, but when they learned NBC/CBC would be including the song, they decided the extra 'coin' could not be spent on a video. Case in point: Mariah's new single is out today and the video is launching TONIGHT. Same day as song released to iTunes. I can't stand the friggin woman but at least she/her label give a damn! If Mariah's lead single misses the Hot 100 like it happened with LMBTL then Mariah is done. Not only in US, but internationally as well. With Celine it is not much of a deal because she sold albums steadily the past decade without real hits. Mariah failed to sell more than 1.2m back in 2009 and more than 700k in 2010 with her respective album releases. It will take a miracle for her to sell over 1.4m copies in 2014. Chances are she will sell much lower than that because her image is severely damaged and she has pissed off her fans because she's been postponing her album since late 2012. These postponements alone prove lack of professionalism on their part, I would hardly say they know what they are doing. Edited February 13, 2014 at 11:03 AM by LukeD 1 Quote

These postponements alone prove lack of professionalism on their part, I would hardly say they know what they are doing. I have read a lot of the views of fans on this site for some time now. However, I don't think anyone has really been able to accurately pin point why her pas few albums have sold all that well. I personally don't think that it has been down to promotion, her management or even Las Vegas. Granted some of those may have been factors. However, I think it is the lack of direction in her albums and lack of quality songs. I like her new album, but I am a fan, so I am biased. There are no songs on her recent albums which have been able to capture audiences. I thought that Loved Me Back to Life was ok, but not great. The chorus was a bit to whiny. I would say that Incredible is the album's best shot. She needs to get great songs, whether they be ballads or whatever. Ballads still work, but you need great ones. Look at Emile Sande, or that Passenger song (Let her go). All beautiful ballads. Mariah's newest song, as much as I hate to admit it,is very catchy and it is not hard to like. You can't just please the fans these days. People are too fickle. We need a great hit song. It's all about the songs. Quote

Case in point: Mariah's new single is out today and the video is launching TONIGHT. Same day as song released to iTunes. I can't stand the friggin woman but at least she/her label give a damn! Personally, I find it irritating that the promotion for the album has been lacking but we must understand Celine's feelings on the matter. A few years ago, she explained that she has been #1 before and she's done trying to go for that. She has a "been there, done that" attitude about it. Now, she is about her family and singing for her fans. In essence, she doesn't care about the charts or general public. She just wants to make her fans happy! Regarding Mariah, did you watch the video she released before her new single? Did you notice how it showcases EVERY SINGLE ONE of her accomplishments? That is because that is what Mariah cares about. While I love her voice, the woman is very vain and up her own rear-end. Its really quite sad because, as soon as her debut came out, I was in love with her and her voice but she has morphed into the stereotypical diva: unapproachable and aloof. Is that how you wanted Celine? A Celine that is more obsessed with the almighty dollar than her family and fans? A Celine that makes business decisions based solely on money that cause her to overwork herself into a highly publicized mental breakdown? I don't think you do. And that is why I am thankful that Rene is there to deal with the business. Like it or not, the business world is cut-throat and cold. Celine Dion is not! On to the single, Sony needs to replace the coverart on iTunes to a photo of Celine & Ne-Yo or even the cover of the German single (I LOVE that shot of Celine)! http://i.imgur.com/U0wJHPY.png 5 Quote Bryan Beavers | Create Your Badgehttp://badge.facebook.com/badge/577905483.228.1040373769.pnghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o84/nafnoid23/Untitled-2.jpg

Your_Su_Phu Posted February 13, 2014 at 06:18 PM Posted February 13, 2014 at 06:18 PM (edited) Second of all, just because she may have grossed a ton of money from a tour, doesn't mean she's successful. http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Lindsay-Lohan-Spits-Out-Drink.gif Why? Because you say so? There are different ways to measure success. If you simply claimed she was no longer successful as a current relevant radio artist, then you might have an argument (although it's arguable depending upon the region), but to make a general claim that grossing a ton of money from a tour doesn't validate success is flat-out not based in reality. What's more, from a truly objective point of view, artists make more money from tours/residencies these days than album sales, especially veteran artists like Celine who can command a pretty penny for tickets. Secondly, I love how you totally ignored the latter part of his comment concerning the phenomenal success of "Sans Attendre". Exactly how many people in the U.S. know the song "Taking Chances" off hand? How many people know of "Loved Me Back To Life" (album or single, take your pick). Again, irrelevant to the issue of "success" in general. Even if we were talking about current commercial relevance, how many artists 30 years into their career manage that? Naming a handful of exceptions doesn't prove anything against the rule, either. But nooooo, it's all Rene's fault, he ruined the fact that Celine's not as hot as Rihanna and Miley on the charts right now. How vocally horrible was the release of "A New Day...Live In Las Vegas." And that's Rene's fault...?Never mind the fact that it was one of the best selling DVD's of the year and her best selling DVD ever. Explain to me again why"Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)" was selected as a single from "A New Day Has Come" when there were clearly other better choices? Another person who lives in their tiny little Celine bubble and blames every single micro-mismanagement of Celine's career on Rene/Sony (disregarding the myriad of external factors beyond Celine/Sony's control), and who is egotistical enough to think that if they had personally managed Celine's career she would still be #1 on the BB hot 100. Thank you.I can reassure you I did not use the word 'dear' in a sarcastic way. Other than that, as far as I'm not insulting you, I'm going to use any word I want no matter how many times you intend to write 'NOT' in capitals. Clear enough? Cool. Grossing $680m can only be a proof of success, what you said that grossing tons of money from a tour doesn't mean she's successful is extremely contradictory. We are not even talking about 1 successful tour, it's about 6 consecutive years of doing extremely well in ticket sales which always rank higher than single sales from a commercial standpoint (1 ticket = $100+, 1 download = $1). Talking about the singles, Rene has nothing to do with the fact that TC and LMBTL were ignored by mainstream radios. DJs despise Celine and they have clearly stated they would not play her songs no matter how cool or modern or catchy they are. You talked about fans requests? Well, what requests? I have seen no requests, not even an official thread about them. Even if there were specific requests why would Celine have to do as we please? She is a singer, not our puppet. The setlist of each tour is obviously the result of Celine demanding ('The Reason') and backing off ('My Heart Will Go On), this doesn't mean she is suppressed by Rene, it's a huge exaggeration on your part to talk about '*CENSORED*-slaps'. As for the 'hidden gems' there is a freaking reason he called them HIDDEN. He picked these words to perfectly describe awesome (=gems) songs that don't really see the light (=hidden), this doesn't mean Celine falls sort of great popular songs. I can only agree with the fact that GTSW was a bad single choice and that Celine should have performed a couple more songs from 'D'elles'. The rest of your comments are invalid and irrelevant to me. Rene is no God and I don't think there is someone here who thinks so highly of him, but album sales of 50m in the 00s, ticket sales of $680m and a huge impact that only added to her legacy will always stand above promotional mistakes here and there. AND THE FACT THAT CELINE HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM BEING PLAYED ON THE RADIO THESE DAYS REALLY IS SUCH A FRICKIN SHAME, WHOEVER CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA TO BAN CELINES MUSIC FROM BEING PLAYED ON THE USA RADIO STATIONS, EVEN THE ADULT CONTEMPORARY STATIONS, SHOULD GET A BIG SLAP UPSIDE THE HEAD FOR THAT, I MEAN WHY SHOULD ANYBODY BE BANNED FROM THE RADIO, ESPECIALLY A SINGER WITH SUCH GREAT SONGS LIKE CELINE WHO IS VERY TALENTED AND HAS BEAUTIFUL SONGS THAT SHOULD BE STILL PLAYED ON THE RADIO I THINK ITS UNFAIR AND I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO GET CELINES MUSIC PLAYED ON THE RADIO HERE IN THE USA AGAIN LIKE SHE USED TO BE IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS, AND IF NOT ON THE TOP 40 STATIONS THEN AT LEAST THE ADULT CONTEMPORARY STATIONS WHO USED TO PLAY HER MUSIC UP UNTIL ABOUT 9-10 YEARS AGO (WHEN I DROVE ALL NIGHT AND HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE WERE AROUND AND BEING PLAYED ON THE RADIO, THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I HAVE ANY CELINE SONGS PLAYED ON THE RADIO GOSH I MISS THE GOOD OLD DAYS SIGH)... Calling someone else on here rude when pretty much every single post you make comes off either rude, or as if you are just a miserable human being. Funny coming from someone that claims to draw inspiration and hope for life through art. (Yes, I did my homework) Now, Rene is not completely to blame for the state of Celine's career at the moment. Although, I have to say she's still a big name 30 years later, so he must have done something right. The state of Celine's popularity in 2014 is not measured by how her career is being managed by Rene. It's measured by the fact that she's just not popular anymore. She's not top 40, and probably won't ever be again. Why? Because the industry has changed. She's a woman over 40, she doesn't sing bubblegum pop, and she doesn't feature talentless hacks on her songs (which probably still wouldn't help all that much anyway). Celine's stance on the charts and her sales figures are undoubtedly because of piracy, and the fact that nobody buys albums anymore. Plain and simple. You pulled a handful of irrelevant facts to try and prove that Rene isn't doing his job. Here are a few bullet points for you... "A New Day...Live In Las Vegas" maybe not her best vocal performance, but it was an album that they were contractually obligated through Sony to release. In every contract, Celine has a specific number of albums that she's supposed to release within however many years the contract is for. Now, in 2004 I believe she was coming towards the end of a contract, therefore running out of time to release the album. Also the fact that they were still planning on releasing the DVD of that very same concert, MONTHS after the CD release... until the editing was done and they scrapped the project altogether due to the fact that it didn't look or sound right. But a DVD release is a separate entity from album releases anyway. The single choices of ANDHC album, why are we still harping on this? Yes, it was a fantastic comeback for Celine. It was fresh, and people missed her. She broke opening week sales for that year, but the album to Sony standards still under performed. The singles were not cracking the top 40, aside from ANDHC which peaked at 22, and then fell off the charts. AC was where she was being most welcomed, and the first 2 singles performed phenomenally on the AC charts. So, being that this was the case, they chose another AC friendly sounding song (GTSW) to release. Unfortunately it didn't pick up that well, but how many times has Celine had a third single do anything amazing in the US? As for "hidden gems"..just because they may be beautiful songs, or classified as some of her best work, it doesn't mean that they are always going to be radio or performance friendly in a live venue. Plus, the mention of them being gems were in casual conversation during recording sessions. It's not like they went to the newspapers and the internet to make a big deal about these specific songs. MHWGO, it's a song that people anticipate Celine to sing in her concerts. People wait for it. I speak mostly of casual fans when I'm saying this. There's a build up when you're excited to hear this song. You're waiting, waiting for the most exciting moment in the show. For most people, casual fans going to a Celine Dion concert, MHWGO would be that moment. Hence why it's the encore. Fan favorites...TYLAM was rumored to have been in the show during creation..clearly cut for whatever reason. That's the director's choice, not Celine or Rene's. They hire these people to make the show successful. Have they done their job in doing so? Absolutely. We are not entitled to be catered to just because we buy her albums. She's a working woman, her shows are strategized to make money. End of story. Taking Chances, the album performed well for an album that was released in 2007. It was one of the highest selling albums of the year. I'm not going to only credit that to die hard fans like us. In a year where illegal downloading was pretty much at it's peak, she managed to sell quite well. As for the single...it was 2007, and Celine Dion just WAS NOT POPULAR anymore. This seems to be a fact that so many people like to neglect. Do I want her to have a hit song again? It would be nice, but why should I base how I feel as a fan on such a trivial detail? She still makes good music, I still and will continue to enjoy it. As will many other people. So, please...the next time you want to make a post with some real points, make some real points. Don't go off on someone and basically tell them they are wrong based on your own personal opinions about Rene, her shows, single choices etc. Those are your opinions, and I'm not taking them away from you. But to use your opinions against someone and tell them that they are wrong because you think your opinions are the ones that matter is rather rude. Hm..rude..does that word sound familiar? It should, because you are constantly rude to people on here. Think about that the next time you post, dear. browseceline Posted February 13, 2014 at 09:08 PM Posted February 13, 2014 at 09:08 PM good point! Amen. I still think this artwork for the cover...cheap. And indeed this is a duet. You cannot tell me that there are no pictures of the videoshoot. Enough material to make a attractive cover. 1 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
LukeD Posted February 13, 2014 at 09:08 PM Posted February 13, 2014 at 09:08 PM I feel truly sorry for those individuals who believe success is measured by money. Just because someone has earned lots of money doesn't make them successful. That is a poor manipulation. We were talking about whether Celine is a successful SINGER or not. In that sense, her sales and legacy are the only criterions. Your attempt to make this a personal conflict by saying you feel sorry for us is... ignored. 1 Quote
