Simply that I think I've stated my point long and at great length in many occasions to repeat again the things I've said a million times before (and for which they've made fun of it too in the past, by the way). You told me I was manipulating and contradicting myself, and though I don't agree with that, I admit that I could have explained better what I mean when I said that "Celine doesn't care about her albums" or that she spent 6 years of absence in the international music market. And then you make my comment sound disrespectful as if I meant that she spent those 6 years "sitting on her couch eating Lays", when I've never said that, nor I pretended to give that image of her. I perfectly know what she's been through between 2009 and 2011, and I perfectly know that she did a world tour that lasted a year and a half and that we had a live album and two DVD's. However, I'm perfectly aware that Celine Dion is signed to one of the biggest record labels in the world, and that the name "Celine" is an enterprise of its own. And I am aware that she has one the most privileged positions in the music business in the world, and more than enough power so that she OR her big team decides to release something new during the 6 years they took until LMBT arrived. There are a dozen of things that Sony Music of Feeling Productions could have released without Celine moving a finguer or leaving her couch in Florida between 2009 and 2011, or between 2011 and 2013, while she started her Vegas show but no new english music arrived until almost two years later since the new Vegas show premiere. That's where the neglection of her career comes, and that's what I call lazy, and the attitude that a large number of people involved behind the "Celine" name had during that time. But not Celine herself!

 

 

I could go on and on explaining my point about that, but I feel I've explained it already to boredom. So no need to repeat and clarify again what I've been saying in a thousand different ways since 2011

This is not explaining the use of your phrase. 'a word to the wise is enough' is used to describe how wise people do not need explanations, it indirectly implies that fools or simply those who aren't wise enough do need them to get the point. Look it up.

Another thing- No matter what it is,people are very passionate about music. When people are passionate abouy an artists or a band, there is always jdisagreements. As Nmj said we can all learn disagree respectfully. I like when mm??ltthere are disagreements because you learn from others when there is, and the forum would be boring if there wasnt. No need to twist our words to look smarter, to made our opinion seems like the right one. we can have our opinion without having two face, that would be a discussion.

it's tiring to read some post just to attack somebody else opinion. And it's clear to see that someone thinks he always right. His opinion never consistent depend on others opinion so he can attack other.

I know it's disappointing to have no MV, i do really wish we have at least on MV, but hey I have my own life to fighting for other than just mourning about the lack of promotion of this album.

If I only see the negative side It would be very disappointed, I never heard any of song from this album in the radio here, i never see any poster in CD store, not even a tiny tiny poster, it would be because an accident to know she had a new album here, but at least i can have this album.

I know some people worry about what if they treat this album like this there would be no more album in the future, i do too, but for me just like an old song, Que sera sera.... what will be, will be...

I can complain here till my fingers hurt, but Celine has the right to do what she want to do, it would be disappointing for some people but it's her life, it's her decision.

I have to admit that it's a bit repetitive, as we've all spoken about before, but it's done in a very pleasant way in my opinion. I really think that Celine and Ne-Yo sound very good together. They harmonize very well. The song is positive and upbeat with a modern appeal. Celine shines with several high notes that just come out of her vocal cords as smooth as "butta", and Ne-Yo is pretty smooth as well. They both have charisma together. So, put that all together and you've got a very good song!!!

 

I'm dying to blast the song from my car speakers as well!!! I don't listen to the radio, but I definitely will if the US radio stations would give any song from LMBTL some air time!! I really don't know why this song isn't being played. Of course, never say never. We are just barely in 2014. There still might be surprises in store for us. Celine's team and Sony are possibly shaking their heads and saying, "Oh ye of little faith!!!"

The reason we are on this forum is that we all love Celine's work. Some of us are older and have been fans for a really long time (can you say: "Une Colombe?!!"). Others are younger and are recent fans. But just because we are fans doesn't mean that all we only have positive things to say. There have been a great many decisions by Sony, Rene or Celine herself that leave a lot to

be desired. It's because we are fans that we can point out things that we think could be better (ie. single choices, shooting a video for LMBTL, etc.)

This forum should be a democratic venue for Celine Fans to express their opinions and not be "censored" by others who only want to talk about how great Celine is. How boring is that? This is not communist Russia where we have to

pretend that everything is ok and that gays don't exist (sorry, just went on a tangent but you get the drift). Just because one doesn't agree with other's frustrations, whether justified or not, does not give one a license to berate them on this forum. And to have to read through 3 pages of self-indulgent posts is beyond unacceptable. Let's please get back to the topic and show a little respect and tolerance for others' viewpoints.

A few responses to this discussion:

 

1) Yes, lots of people have 3 children and work, and ALL of them are making some sort of sacrifice. If Celine chooses to put spending time with her children first (not something you can hire other people to do, no matter how much money you have) and to make sacrifices in terms of her career -- that's her right and she's lucky enough to have the financial stability to make this choice. Other people choose to sacrifice time with their children and prioritize their career -- as Rene did with his first three children when they were small. I respect Celine's decision to prioritize time with her children -- and I think it's a decision that overall gives her a happier life. That's not the same as making her a saint or a martyr. It's just saying that a working mother of twin toddlers and a preteen is going to have a limited amount of time.

 

2) I don't think Celine owes any of us anything. She's already given so much to the world with her music and shows. She could choose to retire completely and focus on her family or anything else, and that would be fine. I'd say the only time she owes fans anything is when people are paying money to see a particular show or buy a particular album -- and, in those cases, she virutally always delivers tremendously well.

 

3) I, too, would love to see a music video, and I don't understand either why there's not one. But the fact that we don't know the reason doesn't mean there's not a good reason. And I think it's just totally untrue to say the album and the marketing are lazy and Celine's been doing nothing. When the album first came out, there was widespread agreement on this forum that it was her best album since ANDHC. Her voice is in incredible shape, and she has a lot of fresh, modern songs with current songwriters, a duet with one of the biggest current artists, as well as some songs more like what she's traditionally sung, and a duet with an older artist, to appeal to her more traditional fanbase.

 

I don't know why the album didn't catch on in the US, but honestly I think Celine's been doing a tremendous amount of work. This is just some of her promo work for LMBTL:Three-day massive press junket with journalists from around the world where she gave non-stop (probably annoyingly repetitive) short interviews for three days; appearances on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Larry King's new show, Dr. Oz, Today show, CBS This Morning,Access Hollywood, The View, Extra, X Factor UK, Strictly Come Dancing; the Jonathan Ross show, Wetten Das, QVC special; hosting Home for the Holidays special, appearing on The Voice, and the amazing intimate NYC concert, with both fans and lots of journalists to try to create buzz.

 

I understand there are things fans would like to be different -- but to call Celine's promo lazy when she's made at least 17 TV appearances, plus an amazing intimate concert, plus a stretch of 8 beautiful French-language concerts, plus going back to perform in Vegas, all the while parenting 3 young children -- I think she's amazing.

 

The lack of videos is actually a targeted strategy; shameful, but not without merit. It is assumed that in 2013, Celine Dion will sell more money in concert tickets than she would otherwise in additional album sales potentially stimulated by a music video. Indeed, those who saw the video and bought the album might be less motivated to buy a ticket for the Vegas show, since they have already participated in the immersive visionary experience we are looking for when we crave the acquisition of disposable media-vision through objects and sounds. By fixing Celine's representational aura around the idea of the "live performance," her LMBTL promo actually reads in reverse as a promotional campaign for the Vegas show. It's essentially a stunt, they don't want a music video to provide a simulation of the Vegas show experience since it needs to be worth the price-tag / otherwise impossible to attain.

This is all nice and dandy, but I can assure you that if someone did a scientific breakdown (with charts and graphs) exposing how certain members love to "express their opinions" - actually, the same several opinions - over and over again, ad nauseum - I think it would be the epitome of what you call "self indulgent". And it would be quite illuminating.

There's expressing your opinion, and then there's beating a dead horse and infecting every topic on the forum with the same old rehashed, self-centered (and now inconsistent) whining. I just think it's kinda funny that some of you are so worried about people's freedom of speech being stifled on here - when there's specific members who have shared SO MUCH of their precious thoughts and feelings for the whole forum, over and over and over again, so that it almost starts sounding like a parody. Please take a look at the "view member content" button to see just how "stifled" some specific members have been lmao. We used to be able to click on the number on the side of a thread (which represented how many posts had been made in that thread) to see the breakdown of who made how many posts, then we could easily see how certain members had 10, 20x as many posts as anyone else in that thread, and further than that, how 90 percent of the posts were spewing the same s***....communist Russia indeed!

 

How many times do we have to hear from the same exact member that they're tired of Vegas, tired of Celine's blazers, tired of her singing ballads, tired of her not recording a eurodance album, tired of her not wearing a sparkly rainbow bikini on her album cover, etc!??! JFC
