Me too! I have a lot of singles (and I keep collecting them) and I'm just 19. I started collecting when I was 16

The other day we talked about cd singles and Celine. Now I just learned that Johnny Halliday's new album, "L'Attente", promoted next with Céline's "Sans Attendre" in France, had a vinyl LP release, but not Céline's album

It's just annoying than this man -who is 25 years older than Céline- can have a vinyl edition of his album and not Céline, whose album has been as sucessful as Johnny's in France

Maybe because a big number Johnny Hallyday fans still live in "vinyl" era and they don't know how to make cd play :giggle:

That's definitely NOT the reason, because Adele's album '21' has been released on vinyl as well... And her fan base isn't mainly made of old people...

Of course! That was a joke. ;)

That's not the reason, also Myléne Farmer is only 7 years older than Céline and she always has her albums in France released in vinyl (and exquisitely detailed versions by the way).

It's not a problem of the demographic or the kind of public the album its addressed, with Céline is something else. It's a problem that Céline has had with Sony since 1996... and she was 28 at that time, with a mixed fanbase of both young and adult fans. It's not a matter of the demographic of the fanbase. Not even D'eux, the best selling french album of all time did see a release in vinyl format, and it was 1995, when vinyls still sold pretty well as much as CDs

Then what could be the explanation?

Of course the demographic of the public is not the reason. I was just joking about Johnny's long career. There must be lot of his fans since decades...

Anyway, that's true about vinyls. I'm not sure who decides on this kind of promotion strategy and releasing different formats. Probably record label like Columbia or Epic.

They make here and there something different. Like releasing dvd single for "Tout l'or des hommes" back in 2003. I own some 12'' singles with remixes from 1990's. "Falling Into You" was the last album released on vinyl. I think...

Talking about D'eux, I find it strange that the album had only two physical singles ("Pour que tu m'aimes encore" and "Je sais pas")... Only two videoclips. And still it's her best selling french album. "J'attendais" came out to promote "Live à Paris".

No idea. But there's something fishy with Celine, vinyls and Sony. I said it in an earlier post, when Mariah Carey -Céline's "rival" in Sony (or viceversa) when they were signed together at the same time in Sony in the 90's- had all her albums and singles released in vinyl, Céline just didn't.

It's surprising to say the least that even when Celine had two consecutive albums that together did sell more than 60 million copies, none of them was available in vinyl for the public.

*Edit: FIY was indeed released on vinyl, but it was a limited edition of around 700 copies in certain countries of Europe. Still strange it wasn't a major release with more availability around the globe.

What I wonder is, when they stop producing physical singles, will this arrive someday to physical albums too? If so, what are fans going to ask their favourite artist/singer/writer/actor to sign on the cover, if a physical product does no longuer exist? The "please can you sign me your album..." will be over :confused1: :confused1: :(

Unfortunately, the Internet has dehumanized a lot of things, the music being one of them. The Internet has been an amazing step and means a world of possibilities, but for music, it has been a constant death threat to lose the direct contact with the product.

I actually for once agree with you on something.

maybe they don't want the record sales to be divided into vinyl and CD, which may hurt chart performance?

or they just didn't care. cuz for ppl like me, i don't really care about vinyl.

Vinyl sales would still count I think. It would just have a different catalog number.

Céline's album hasn't been as successfull as Johnny's but MORE sucessfull. :-D

I don't know the reason why Sony doesn't release any vinyl for Céline but I know why Johnny and Mylène do : it's all about collectors, sales and money. Both of them are the most "collected" artists in France, so they take advantage of this fact by releasing I don't know how many editions of their albums; And they are all counted for charts.

I don't think Céline as such a great collector fanbase in France. But it only shows that SA success is even more impressive: less editions but bigger sales than Mylène (who released 4 editions !) and Johnny.

Exactly, they have an appeal for collectors there. But if they didn't build this kind of market for Céline too, its just because they didn't cared about it. Too bad for Sony, they would have sold much more! -_-

I'm afraid it all means that QPVSA will be the last single from SA and it'll be really great if they shoot a video. They take too much time between the singles and later they'll surely concentrate on the English album. What a waste!

Come on... when are they releasing this single, and especially a videoclip for it? It's craving for a good video burning in flames! The song keeps growing on me :in_love: :in_love: :in_love:

How I'd wish she sang this one live, belting her vibrato on the "qui" parts

I think that when celine fell sick she perhaps didn't do the video, which would explain why there have been no photos like we usually get. I hope we will get one! I really love this song! One of my favourites, although it does sound very taking chances (album), it would fit at the end on taking chances nicely lol

Hope we gets news soon! The video must be amazing! They have a lot to work with

Celines schedule must be so much tighter than other artists with the Vegas show! One thing goes wrong and everything gets pushed back months because there is no other time.

I bet they delayed the video because she was sick and then she went right back to shows, I imagine that once Vegas wraps up this month we will hear more about the single and its video!
