Celine to pay tribute to Whitney Houston (via video)

René confirmed that 2 video performances of Celine in 1987 where she covers Whitney (Saving All My Love For you and Greatest Love Of All) will be shown during the tribute. He did not say anything about any live performance... I assume she will anyway.

But maybe they will introduce Celine with those videos before she performs

I'm guessing that they'll just show very short clips of these performances to demonstrate Whitney's influence on performers like Celine. . it would be strange to play the songs in their entirety - to devote so much time in an hour-long show to two 25 year old performances that aren't Whitney's (I'm wondering in general how they're going to fit this all into an hour, with commercials . .performances by Celine, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, clips of several of Whitney's performances, and interviews about Whitney?? It seems like it should be a 2 hour show, at least.)

I am waiting and looking forward to this concert, please post the links once u have them... I just cannot forget how much Celine loved Whitney esp. the moment when she cut her speech to raise the TV's volume and listen to Whitney perform in 2004!!

Since David Foster was behind Whitney's huge hits and Whitney's latest album she will sing something David Foster produced and I wont be surprise if David and Celine went to the studio with Humberto Gatica before the show and pre-recorded the song just like she did on Tina Turner's "Simply the best" and Elvis Tribute on American Idol. When was the last time Celine took a risk and sang something difficult on TV ? She is amazin and dont get me wrong, but when she is out of her confort zone(vegas) she doesn't wow us like she did in the 90's just because she doesn't have to anymore, she doesn't need to prove anything anymore so why work extra hard and why take a risk ? (thats my opinion and what i think it will happen don't shoot me) lol

 

Now, what i want to happen is that she sings "one moment in time" and blow the roof of the arena because i know she can, or sing something very catchy and come out wearing a sexy short dress and have tons of dancers lol dreams dreams dreams. Anyways I'm looking fwd to hear from fans who are going to the concert to give us the insides and let this agony rest because im excited to find out what she is going to sing.

There are so many possibilities. I wonder what Celine's #1 choice would be to sing. I know it'll be between her & the producers of the show. It's a shame it's only 1 hour.

where is that Whitney forum? and how do they know? To be honest, I think I will always love you will be done by Jennifer once more. She did that song before, also in front of whitney , so I think that song will be hers that night. But it would be interesting to hear Celine's version. It will sure lead to a lot of reactions on twitter and youtube and people will compare her version with Whitney's , definately.

^^for exactly the same reasons, i don't think Jennifer Hudson will perform that song. It's Celine's turn.

 

And for people who think its too risky, Celine has "nothing else to do" (vocally speaking) except practicing that song till they record it at the grammy tribute; cause she's not in Las Vegas performing and we all know that she will lip her new songs for the Sans Attendre TV special.

Its this Thurs - 11 Oct in LA. Personally i don't think Celine is going to be there in person. Unless she's already in LA.

I think she's still in Montreal so she likely won't be there in person.

 

I think they will show her performances of SAMLFY and GLOA from 1987/1988 along with a satellite message from Celine.

 

I hope they show the full performances and not just a snippet.

The one-hour We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston concert will be taped in Los Angeles on October 11th and will also feature interviews and footage with the late singer, as well as artists sharing their memories of her.

I'm going with a friend who is also a Whitney/Celine fan. We have tickets for this Thursday night at 7:30pm. The concert had VIP sections also with a pre-party reception at 6:30pm, so this is defintely going to be a concert and a big event. As the L.A. Times newspaper announced, Usher, Celine, and Jennifer will be performing. Across the street at the Staples Center, Madonna will be performing the day before (tomorrow) and on Thursday October 11th. So it looks like to be a big couple of nights in L.A.!! Maybe Madge will record something special for Whitney also?? Who knows...

I think she'll be there. Why wouldn't she?! And its a CONCERT. So of course there will be performances. Because why mention she'll be there if she's clearly not? The whole point of the press release was to get tickets sold. I will be very disappointed if she isn't there LIVE. OK, so I've just watched Denis Levesque interviewing René Angelil. The interview was about 45 minutes long and, when he asked René about Céline's participation on the TV special, he said that Whitney has always been one of Céline's biggest idols and inspirations as an artist. They will show extracts of Céline performing Greatest Love Of All at Station Soleil and Saving All My Love For You at Samedi De Rire, both videos from 1987. He didn't say nothing else about this.
