CelinesDIVO5 Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:27 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:27 PM Great news everybody! I was a bit worried she wouldn't take part in any tribute to Huston, but now I am all calm. I hope she does one of the following three songs: I Have Nothing - this tune is truly Huston's second biggest song to me (right after IWALY). And I love the first lines. Céline would sing this so well. One Moment In Time - sums up what Huston's career now is. She truly had her moment in time. I Look To You - never really liked this song much before. But after her death I realised this is the perfect tribute song to do to her. You're not risking being disrespectful by singing one of her signature songs (such as IWALY - no one sings it like Whitney) but you'd actually be quite humble, when singing "I look to you" that could mean that one looks to Huston for inspiration. /fred I love "I Look To You"...I actually love that whole album...but I want a song ala the first 2 you mentioned where Celine can really blow and make Whitney proud. Even "I Believe In You and Me" would be lovely. rael1983 Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:41 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:41 PM I'm beyond excited with the news, but I want Celine to do the VH1 Divas tribute too! Quote
davidjag79 Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:47 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 06:47 PM (edited) Whitney had amazing songs, For me 'I Have Nothing' 'All The Man That I Need' I love those, so would love to hear Celine sing them. But because Celine is known for her ballads, she could do totally different and sing 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' with lots of dancers around her :-) I know it's a tribute, and not about Celine, and not about high notes, BUT I am in need of a power vocal song with high notes that will blow everyone away. Me is just tired of the slow 'lullaby' songs :-) I agree, this had really made my day! but please not I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Celine doesn't really soar in the faster upbeat songs live IMO .. I want her to really belt it out And im still hopeful she will be apart of the Diva's Live Whitney tribute as well maybe I Look To You suits Celine Edited September 27, 2012 at 06:50 PM by davidjag79 Quote I have waited for so long...for a miracle to come, A New Day Has Come!! http://i49.tinypic.com/1q1q4i.jpg

I can imagine Céline doin this song, standing in the dark with a white dress on very much like the NMQP performance. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
Celinenvegas Posted September 27, 2012 at 07:20 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 07:20 PM I'm thrilled about this and can't wait. I wish it was a 2 hour show with all they mentioned doing. Hopefully they'll have just a few performers doing 1 or 2 songs each and then maybe everyone together at the end singing one of her big songs like I Will Always Love You or Greatest Love of All. Celine's voice is one of the few that can match the power of Whitneys (in her prime), so she could sing any of the powerful songs. I'll be happy with any of them mentioned here. She did sing "Saving All My Love" in the 80's but that was so long ago, she may want to do something newer or a song she relates more to. Tix are only $25-50 - damn wish they were doing it in NYC! CelineAndRene Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:05 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:05 PM I would think that "I'm Every Woman" would be the finale song. To leave her memory on a good note. That would probably be the group song (assuming there is one). Quote "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. sailornic Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:30 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:30 PM will mariah carey be there?I would love to hear them sing when you believe Quote
Your_Su_Phu Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:49 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:49 PM i always thought her voice would fit "all at once" very well she shouldn't do IWALY because it will draw too many comparisons to whitney's version...not to mention it's such a difficult song Quote
sailornic Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:54 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:54 PM if celine can hit the all by myself note she can do i will always love you Quote
juicyoranges Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:56 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 08:56 PM I've got goosebumps at the thought of this. Hope she sings one of the following Run To YouOne Moment In TimeI look to You I think R Kelly is to be on Whitneys new Greatest Hits coming out this year. A duet with Whitney on I look To You. xx Quote
davidjag79 Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:04 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:04 PM (edited) I doubt they will have Usher singing "I'm Every Woman" Lmao @ Usher singing Im Every Woman I'm thinking they will give the to power ballad to Jennifer Hudson, Upbeat to Usher and a slower mellow song to Celine (although Celine should get the power ballad, it will be like the MJ Earth song tribute when they gave Carrie Underwood the high note I was seriously p@**ed off about that) Edited September 27, 2012 at 09:06 PM by davidjag79 Quote I have waited for so long...for a miracle to come, A New Day Has Come!! http://i49.tinypic.com/1q1q4i.jpg
zuv Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:13 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:13 PM (edited) How is "I look to You" a great song choice???? Whitney is not a model to look up to or to follow the foot steps!! what the hell? I mean vocally maybe... but even then, she didn't respect her voice that much... I think it would be a big mistake for any artist to sing that song... its not really appropriate. Whitney sang that song thinking about God, about her dear fans about her loving family. Why? because she was weak and needed help and strength... Celine doesn't need this at all... and she certainly doesn't need to ask Whitney for strength and help. IMO! pat200 Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:15 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:15 PM that is great news! one moment in time, i have nothing, saving all my love for you, greatest love of all, all at once all suit celine. She just shouldn't sing i will always love you. it is like mariah singing my heart will go on. those are signature songs that should not be touched by anyone. whitney's version is and will always be the vocal standard, and she set it really really high for anyone to come close, so celine better leave that song (if she did it in 96-97 then ok, but not now) Quote
Celine Fan 77 Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:39 PM Author Posted September 27, 2012 at 09:39 PM Guys wait a second, that "press release" (or however it's called) never mentioned that Celine, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and the rest of artists will be singing Whitney's song, or did it say so?If it's gonna be a one-hour-special, and they're planning to show Whitney's greatest live performances along with some never-seen-before footage, I hope there's still time for the guest performers to sing, and I really hope they don't just talk about how Whitney Houston inspired them... ferjaacu Posted September 27, 2012 at 10:47 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 10:47 PM Great news indeed !!! :cheer: I'm soooo happy about this news Well, it doesn't say they will be singing Whitney's songs, but it does say that there will be performances from various artists paying homage to Whitney I surely hope at leat Celine gets to sing there I hope she sings "all the man that i need" !!! Oh man !!! I really luuuuuuurve this song sooo much !!! It's one of my favourites of all time and I could just die if Celine sings it Quote http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/5786913948_369265dbeb_m.jpg FERLO
lucassfilho Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:24 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:24 PM This will be incredible! Hope Céline sings 'I Have Nothing' or IWALY (Jennifer Hudson always sing this one in every tribute since Whitney's death. I think she should pass this time.) Quote
fikus1 Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:51 PM Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:51 PM Why it would affect her? She was simply speaking out the truth. Everybody knows that Whitney died of drugs abuse. Her fans wanted to believe that Whitney death was an accident or even a murder but even the coroner found drugs in Whitney body after he completed the autopsy. I agree with you, of course. I just remember Whitney's fans negative reactions after what Celine had said. But probably there's no need to worry about Quote

Jeffieboi Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:13 AM Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:13 AM OMG so many songs of Whitney's I would love to hear Celine sing: How Will I KnowWhere Do Broken Hearts GoOne Moment In TimeDidn't We Almost Have It AllI Wanna Dance With SomebodySo EmotionalGreatest Love Of AllAll At Once I can't wait to find out which one it is. Angel2006 Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:47 AM Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:47 AM OMFG!!!! I think this is the best news i have heard all year!! It's so hard to choose a song that i would like Celine to sing, cuz whitney has such amazing songs to choose from. I think I Wanna Dance With Somebody would sound amazing, or The Greatest Love Of All. It would also be amazing if Celine did I Will Always Love You as a duet with the other artists that are going to be in the tribute. Is anyone from the forum planning on going to the taping of the tribute? I hope we get video, cuz i am going to die, waiting to know what song she will sing and what it will sound like. OMG!!!! LOL. Quote
exfactor003 Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:53 AM Posted September 28, 2012 at 05:53 AM would love to hear Céline perform You Were Loved (originally by Wynonna, but Whitney recorded a version of her own). it's one of my favourites of Whitney's, and the lyrics are very fitting. Quote
trls Posted September 28, 2012 at 06:40 AM Posted September 28, 2012 at 06:40 AM It's kinda funny cause Celine, Usher, and Jennifer Hudson were also used to do the MJ tribute at the 2010 Grammy. And is it just me or do they always use JHud for those Whitney tributes? Quote
PuraVida Posted September 28, 2012 at 06:48 AM Posted September 28, 2012 at 06:48 AM If I had to bet, I'd bet that Celine will be singing Greatest Love Of All. Why the hell is Usher there, though? Hm... Also, a group version of IWALY would just fall apart in my opinion. I cringe at the thought... Quote
