Del Posted October 12, 2012 at 01:14 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 01:14 AM In an interview on District V tonight she spoke about being involved in this Tribute and what Whitney meant to her. She briefly spoke about the song The Greatest Love of All and how much she loved this song. They asked her if that's the song she would be performing and she said she thought so. However it wasn't a confirmation as she wasn't quite sure if it would be or not. I guess we'll know soon which song it's going to be. Quote Instagram: @delphis78

PuraVida Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:05 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:05 AM (edited) I heard this is the performance they used (don't quote me on it) for Celine at the show. Apparently (again speculation based on what's coming out) it was done by HOLOGRAM! Her best performance of Greatest Love of All IMO Edit: Some on twitter are saying that the performance linked above was for the live show, the TV special will have a newly recorded version done by Celine. zuv Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:17 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:17 AM (edited) is it me or Celine is one of the only artists who's practically never there in person at big TV show productions?!?!??! jeez what does she have to do that is soooooo important she can't make it to the grammy tribute of Whitney Houston?!! edit: sorry, theres probably a good reason anyway, good night Edited October 12, 2012 at 04:19 AM by zuv Quote
PuraVida Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:28 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:28 AM Okay, from a source that was there. @sophoan on Twitter... Celine Dion fans: No hologram of Celine. We only saw a video of her singing "Greatest Love of All" from the 80s. I think, t'was remastered. Cont. They did NOT show the newly-taped rendition of "Greatest Love of All" by Celine that was filmed in Canada recently. Audience: misled. Quote
celinefan1991 Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:42 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:42 AM Was just going to post that He also said on twitter: "Celine Dion taped a new performance of "Greatest Love of All" but only for TV in November when Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston airs!" https://twitter.com/sophoan Quote
sunnyceline Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:12 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:12 AM Just got home from the taping....and ((cry)) the was no Celine, only a screen view of Celine singing "The Greatest love of All". Ken Ehrlich the director/producer mentioned in his opening talk with the audience that Celine could not be there, that she was there in "spirit." Me and my friend just looked at each other and were ready to get up and walk out.It was such a bummer not having her there, and all the media report named her as one of the first performers! The first performance was Jennifer Hudson, and she looked pretty hot, wearing her hair up like Whitney did in the video "I wanna dance with somebody". She did an upbeat set with a medley of "I'm every woman" and "I wanna dance with somebody." She was introduced by Halle Berry who clearly cried before, and cried through her speech about Whitney. The producer then walked out again and then said this would be the part where Celine was going to do her song, but that it would be a taped set from Canada, where she is currently (most likely preparing for her taping for the promo of her new french album). They showed her on a TV show wearing a black and silver 80s dress singing (with Elise in the background) "the greatest love of all." It was actually a very good version of her singing. Very powerful, but she still had some accent isuues back then. The audience really applauded loudly after her rendtion. Then Britney spears showed up to do a tribute, and she too was in tears as she spoke about Whitney. There was so much cheering for her. LL cool j then made a appearance and also talked about Whitney and then showed a full video of her performing "I will always love you". Taranji Henson (did I spell her name right?) Then came out after showing a video of Whitney singing the "star spangled banner" at the Superbowl game, and then introduced Usher who got alot of the ladies doing cat calls for him. He sang "I believe in you and me" from the movie "Preacher's Wife" which starred Whitney. He had to tape it twice because of technical difficulties, but I think that song was too hard or him to hit the high notes, because he always stood on his toes when his voice went up really "high". The best performance I think, was when Yolanda Adams and Cece winans came out together to sing "Count on me". Yoalnda was very quiet throughout the song, but it was Cece who had the most powerful voice. They had a choir come up in backgrounds, and the song just made everyone stand up and cheer. And that was it.. The show was only one hour and a half long, and went by so quickly. Alot of the in between time was videos of Whitney telling stories or performing at the Grammys. Clive Davis was there to speak about Whitney, and Bobbi Kristina was in the audience being grateful for the tribute to her mom. There was a lot of love in the room. BUT NO CELINE!!!!!!!! I want my money back! Oh well.....what can you do.... Quote http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8081556407_a89989ccda.jpg

sunnyceline Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:24 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:24 AM (edited) Just to clarify the November 16th show will have Celine singing "The Greatest Love of All" a taped live performance from Canada, with the clip of her singing that same song in the 80's, as an intro. For those going to the taping of her Sans Attendre promo concert in Montreal on October 15th, I have a very strong suspicion that she may be performing that song during that taping! The new French album is alot about love, so I wouldn't be surprised for her to take time during that taping to perform the Whitney Houston song. She will have the camera crew, the stage, the make up and wardrobe....it costs alot of money if she were to just set aside time to tape for the Whitney Houston tribute. I think it's going to happen on October15th! Edited October 12, 2012 at 05:29 AM by sunnyceline Quote http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8081556407_a89989ccda.jpg

browseceline Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:54 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:54 AM If I had bought a ticket for this taping and they used her name and the others to attract visitors to that show, I think that the audience is misled! Of course people come to see her! And then she is not there! Was it sooo extremely difficult to take that plane for one night? One night to honor Whitney Houston - actually show your face? This is one of those occasions that she should have been there in person!I can remember with live 8 that Celine was in Las Vegas and donated her live performance of Love Can Move Mountains ( was it that song?) and that the presenters on dutch television were making kind of fun about her, showing through satellite.Of course I am interested to hear that recorded version, but she should have been there to sing that song LIVE on that night to honor Whitney Houston. Unless she and or her husband have serious trouble or health problems I understand, but if that was not the case, she should have been there I think.. I think that was the general agreement of people who went and were Celine Dion fans. A tribute to Whitney Houston is definitely a special occasion, but Celine's name as a headliner was the true draw for us. Especially since it was mentioned in the media. Usher and Jennifer Hudson are also stars, but I think because this was a GRAMMY event, and Clive Davis was there, as well as her daughter, Celine's presence and live performance would have made the whole evening very special and make people know the love and respect from one worldwide superstar to another. When the producer/director said "she will not be here tonight with us....Celine Dion" there was definite change in the excitement of the audience. Love, Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:15 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:15 AM (edited) When the producer/director said "she will not be here tonight with us....Celine Dion" there was definite change in the excitement of the audience. Yes, I noticed that too. I have a feeling that one reason why we did not see the "new" performance of 'Greatest Love of All' was simply because...Celine didn't do it yet! The 80s footage of her singing 'Greatest Love of All' was definitely remastered. It sounded so splendid and sharp. Certainly, when the telecast happens, they won't show both versions... And if Celine has no time and slacks off, they will just show the 80s version. Edited October 12, 2012 at 06:16 AM by Love, Quote
stchba Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:24 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:24 AM I was there tonight to see CELINE!!! I want my money back! Everyone got in for FREEEEEE. duri Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:24 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:24 AM This is dissapointing, but I was not sure she will be flying from Montreal to LA just for one night, but as she was presented as headliner and it´s so special event as tribute to Whitney I was thinking there is chance she will be there in person, the main problem is that she was presented as one of headliners of this show, of course her name was good for promoting this event ... browseceline Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:44 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 06:44 AM I definately think this is soooo wrong of Celine. Even on her official site they promoted her as one of the headliners. And now we hear it is a remastered tape or a prerecorded tape and not live. I don't understand a choice like this. She is everywhere lately doing interviews, lovely interviews that is for sure, but for this one night where it really mattered, she is not there in person! .... CaesarCeline Posted October 12, 2012 at 07:51 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 07:51 AM I think something is going on that we don't know about. I don't mean to be melodramatic - but a postponed English album, a cancelled live TV special, a poor performance at the memorial concert...and now this.I think someone in the family is sick, or there is another crisis. I am quite worried actually. Quote J'ai besoin de tes yeux, c'est le miroir ou j'existe, sans eux je ne me vois pasRegarde-moi http://img.noiset.com/images/artist/celine-dion-disc-5017.jpeg
