Celine to pay tribute to Whitney Houston (via video)

Were Hale Barry and Britney pals with Whitney? I wonder since it can come off as kinda fake/weird that they supposedly were in tears during there appearences.

Why would the organizers of this tribute show list Celine as a performer from the very beginning? I honestly think she was supposed to be at the taping in person but had to pull out for some reason. I get that in recent interviews it sound like she was gonna do a video tribute but maybe that was just their way of saying something has come up and Celine might not show up. The fact that the producers of the tribute show actually came out twice last night to inform the audience that Celine's portion is beginning and ending, and that there will be a new performance of SAMLFY, kind of reaffirms that Celine was actually supposed to be there last night.

But I cannot wait to see Celine's tribute performance when the show airs on tv in November.

How I love the song she is doing, I don't think Celine should do any satellite performances again!

If she can't be there, she can't! Not live in person, and not through a stupid video!

If they use TGLOA video as an intro, I do hope her 2012 version will be more than 1 minute long :-)

Actually, we should have expected this, considering that is how things work in Celine world now. This was just another case of it being too much effort for Celine to get her butt onto her luxurious private plane and quickly flying to L.A. I'm not holding my breath for the Bambi thing either because I bet she won't be there.

I have nothing against negative posts or negative people. But when people are just nasty and disrespectful as it comes across here, now that is not right. There's no excuse for people to write cheap shots towards Celine. You can sure say that your are not happy but no need to be so damn disrespectful towards the STAR of this forum. Not happy? Get on your own private plane as far as you want to go. Even if it's a 10-hour trip... :evil:

I agree. I understand the disappointment some would have but you gotta understand she is a mother now and can't be everywhere all the time.Her priorities have changed since the 90s and even though the selfish part of me would love for her to be like she was then, I understand she has found that there is much more to life than just music.

oh spare me the priorities have changed speech. yes she is a mother we all know that, but she could have been here on this very important evening honoring Whitney Houston, one of the greatest voices of the 90s. Unless there was something really bad going on with her mother or Rene, she should have been there. Yes it is a long flight, but she is not much in the spotlights lately, yes for interviews etc, but it would have been good if she had been there in person to sing LIVE. I agree with some people here that she should stop those satellite performances. Of course it is not lazy, but it is not good. You are there or you are not, and if you can't attend the show, let the people know - for instance - on the official website?

I don't think it's Céline herself who should have said she wouldn't be there in person.

It's the people who organise the show and who put the press release out.

Céline agreed to tape a performance... so if the organisers were not happy with that, they would have said so.

I had hoped for SAMLFY if that was the case, mainly coz I think she'd sing that more soulfully coz I bet it describes her and Rene's relationship at the beginning.

SAMLFY is about an extramarital affair. You think Celine and Rene were having an extramarital affair? :huh: She would've been a teenager then...the thought of a teenager singing SAMLFY to her 40something year old married lover is :sick:

Well I feel bad for the fans that went just to see Celine. I would be very upset. I am looking forward to the show in November though. i am a huge Whitney fan and even though Celine wasn't there I'd like to see what she contributed to the show. I am SOOOO looking forward to the Cece Winans & Yolanda Adams performance. I love that song!

i was going to write something very scorching but i will refrain from writing it and keep it to myself. instead i will only say how disappointing it is that she backed out of a previous commitment for more money that will be perhaps used as pocket money for rene to play poker with at las vegas... I dont agree with what has happened, but at the same time.... We dont know the REAL ins and outs are about this.

It might be good to add, that some of these people at these benefit concerts are rich, powerful, business (Walmart benefit show), political...

These people she performs for have massive influence on everything. Especially for sales of albums, promotion. Also they have to gain sponcers some how. Its not just money why artists do these kinds of events?

eg If celine wants higher promo for her english album this year, she goes to "walmart" to do a special concert, and then thanks them for everything. She talks business with these people...... "we know how much you push my CD's"..."we thank you, sony thanks you"..... Walmart pushes celines album.. higher sales.

Why does the topic title say she payed tribute via satellite??? She didn't. They'll add a later recorded video to this before it's shown on TV. She "wasn't there" via satellite at all.

And like someone else said I too hopes she quits these video appearences at once. I think it's ok if you do it at a very few occations when you really can't be there. But she does it so often it has almost become her signum.

Well, actually, Whitney's tribute show was kinda dissapointing and not the big even it sounded. I mean Britney, Usher and Hudson on stage...that's not the finest celebrities out there and I don't see any integrity to be part of a show with them. They are not the best choices to pay tribute to Whitney's songs. At the end, I'm glad she wasn't there. They all are flop makers.

That night in NYC, she shared the stage with Harry Connick Jr who is a wonderful jazzman with more artistry and credibility than Miss Spears.

I was watching this interview this morning and Richard Blackwood asks Britney who her favorite artist is of all time. She says Whitney Houston (at 20:50).

It doesn't mean she backed out of a previous commitment. She could have been scheduled to do the investment conference before the Whitney tribute. We can't say she skipped one for the other, you have absolutely no clue what her schedule was.

She never said she would be there. NEVER.

We should be happy she's actually recording something for the tribute. She doesn't have to do it. But she is doing it. Yes, it would be nicer if she had been there in person. But LA is a 4-hour flight from Montreal while New Year is only 1 hour.

It's amazing how some people here can decide what Céline's schedule should be. :wacko:

I posted this in the topic about the show she did in NYC as well...I'm just so perplexed by many of you that I just had to speak my mind and I wanted this to be seen. Therefore I posted it in both topics.

So many of you think that Celine is this Super Woman with a cape and hero powers and can just save the day for her fans at the drop of a hat. The selfishness, not to mention the inane judgments you are passing on a woman that you don't even know is pretty ridiculous. There is a HUGE grasp on life that you all need to get. There is so much more important in this world, and probably your own personal lives to worry about instead of being up in arms about which performance Celine was at or which album is coming out when, or being so distressed over an album release being postponed. Give me a break. As if Celine is your life support, and if she pulls the plug you're going to drop dead. It's kind of sad. As much as I love her, and adore her music and live by inspiration she has given me, I don't know her personally and she has no affect on how my life is going to pan out ahead of me. All she can do is make me happy by singing and that helps me a lot. Old material and new. That's a simple thing in life to think about, and I think a lot of you have some self re-evaluating to do.

I am very sorry for the fans who attended the Whitney tribute hoping to see Celine. But let's see on the bright side: next month we will have a new Celine performance covering a Whitney song.

Also, let's not forget there's still a possibility that she gets invited to perform at the VH1 Divas tribute. If she's asked to take part, she may be able to make it as it will take place on December 16 in Los Angeles. By that time I suppose the promotion of "Sans Attendre" in Europe will be over and she will be back in Vegas, not far from LA, preparing to resume her concerts on December 28.

And I don't think Celine wants another manager, so stop saying Rene needs to be replaced. I personally am a bit fed up seeing fans saying things like that, and thinking they could make the better single choices, better song lists and stuff, and then bash Celine whenever she isn't doing what they have hoped her to do.

Even Celine's mom dares to give Celine too much advices, so please stop thinking that we (fans) know what's best for Celine. If you really want to manage a successful singer, go find your own singer to manage.

And I am fed up with some fans in here that can't stand to hear other opinion's and then talk about hate or bashing Celine. Just understand that ( I am not talking to you Nando by the way) so many people cannot all have the same opinion and when you have to keep your mouth shut on a forum, then where is a forum actually for? It is made to discuss different opinions with each other. Everytime people are negative some people in here come with very rude language about those fans not being fans, even someone called other fans the puke of a maggot... get a life I would say to that person. maybe because in this Whitney tribute some of us were expecting Celine to perform live at this occasion, and now fans are discussing things here.. or is that not allowed either?? Wat else would you like to discuss in this topic on this moment? Yes in November we will see her already recorded video of a Whitney song, but why can't we discuss in here?

This is what I mean - people who are telling others to stop discussions and do it on some other topic?

And by the way we are disussing about this topic , since Celine did not show up. So people write down their opinion, is that bad?
