dj4celine Posted October 17, 2012 at 07:21 PM Posted October 17, 2012 at 07:21 PM I doubt this to be live though tbh. I don't think she'll take the risk of not getting it 'just right' for the tribute. But I'll gladly eat my own words if this turns out to be live. Quote

Tyler1991 Posted October 17, 2012 at 07:38 PM Posted October 17, 2012 at 07:38 PM I'm quite sure it's lipped. Why would she lip the other solo songs just to sing one live? It sounds like she probably lipped the album songs, and sang live in the group songs where she sang with another singer... She would lip GLOA just like she lipped Simply The Best....in other words, it's another mockery of a tribute waiting to be seen.. But who knows, I really hope to be proven wrong. I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong on the subject... So I figure maybe if I talk enough s***, I'll eventually be given a reason to shutup... until then, I'll expect more of the same. Quote

She is 70 yrs old, she had a cold and she still sang every song live. Some of her hits were in lower keys. She was very raspy. But it was real. I'm starting to get really disappointed in Celine as a singer. As a performer, she's great. As a singer....I don't know. Quote

Davey84 Posted October 18, 2012 at 07:11 PM Posted October 18, 2012 at 07:11 PM lol true! I was in the audience then, it was Stars de l'année... It was just a show, not a tribute. We were so surprised to hear Céline doing the vocals to The Best... I dunno about TGLOA, but I am sure it's going to be an amazing performance Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

If they wouldn't have done something stupid like that we would all think that the performance was live. I'm not disagreeing that it was lipped...BUT what does the track playing before she was on the stage have to do with anything? It was pretty much an exact replica of Tina's DIVAS 99 performance. I have even done Tina's live version of this song before, and had the track start playing before I was on the stage. You just have to be able to count the beat and know where to start singing. And actually, I have the official live instrumental of Tina's live version of "SIMPLY THE BEST" and right before she's supposed to start singing, there are 4 very light beeps that you can barely hear if you're in the audience, but I'm sure when wearing ear monitors you can hear them and know that it's your cue to start singing. Davey84 Posted October 18, 2012 at 07:23 PM Posted October 18, 2012 at 07:23 PM (edited) I think he meant that if the playback wasn't played during rehearsals, without Céline on stage, we would have never known it was playback The only thing I am worried about, is that the song will be shortened so much, like they shorten everything nowadays Céline first sang it in 1986, does anyone have footage of that? I think this is the audio from 1986 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrAFJVC-RZU she sang it 2 other times: 1987:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlipIFDgBYU 1989:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjomwQu87QQ So I guess it has a special meaning to Céline too.... It'll be interesting to hear her sing the same song, after 23 years! Tyler1991 Posted October 18, 2012 at 09:54 PM Posted October 18, 2012 at 09:54 PM Great videos Davey. Just paid attention closely to the lyrics of that song for the first time (though I've always loved), and indeed it has a great meaning. Love it even more now. Quote

Love, Posted October 19, 2012 at 07:38 AM Posted October 19, 2012 at 07:38 AM (edited) At the taping in Los Angeles, they showed on the screen the 1987 performance. It was around 5 minutes long. Of course the video looked like 80s television but it was in its best quality possible, and the audio was so sharp and clear. It was quite refreshing and very moving. By the way, for clarify - NO ONE said that there will be a merge of the old 1987 video with the 2012 performance. It was only a rumor. Because it's TV and there's not a lot of time (a 1-hour TV special is really 40 minutes long, because of 20 minutes of commercials), it will most likely - only - be the newly-taped "Greatest Love of All" preceded by personal remarks from Celine. It's just hearsay, so no real proof that Bway singers lip OFTEN. I never said it didn't happen, but MOST of them sing LIVE most of the time. It does seem that most topics revert to this, I think most people here are not happy about it but feel they have to stick up for Celine but facts are facts. She does it often and that's it - we either live with it or move on. Quote ~J O E Y~

Tyler1991 Posted October 22, 2012 at 02:05 AM Posted October 22, 2012 at 02:05 AM I'm pretty sure if it is lipped we'll be able to tell. Her lipping these days isn't nearly as convincing as it was before. Take a look at TPOL from Paris in 95, or Memphis in 97, and then look at it from Walmart... Quote
davidjag79 Posted October 22, 2012 at 02:05 PM Posted October 22, 2012 at 02:05 PM Why isn't there any Tweets or anything about the GLOA performance? sfbaysinger Posted October 26, 2012 at 03:34 AM Posted October 26, 2012 at 03:34 AM I have a feeling I know what an SCF is, and if it means what I think it does, I'm proud to be one and I Will Not Stop!!!!!I also saw the ET clip tonight. It sounds like I'm one of about 5 here who still feel this way, but my heart just absolutely skipped a beat hearing her talk. It was so sweet to hear her talk about Whitney being one who inspired her to start singing in English, even though we all know, and she would probably say so if asked, that Michael was The main influence.I basically feel, lipped or not, I'm so excited I'm just jumping/prancing around like a girl. I love her so much and nothing/no one is going to take that away from me, despite the fact that I believe that nothing would make many people on here happier than if they were able to do so. But that's not going to happen because she/me/my love for her is bigger than hate/criticism/negativity/constant complaining. I just wish we could get back to the love that brought us here in the first place and while some may think that's up to her to do, it begins within each of us and a shift in perspective...Anyway, good night all, and RIP Whitney! Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
