maybe because in this Whitney tribute some of us were expecting Celine to perform live at this occasion, and now fans are discussing things here.. or is that not allowed either?? Wat else would you like to discuss in this topic on this moment? Yes in November we will see her already recorded video of a Whitney song, but why can't we discuss in here?

Not to mention horrendously nasty to each other!!! There's no reason for it. I'll be honest, I have made some harsh postings on here. But I just tell it like it is. I don't single people out, or call people names. Everyone here is still human. Treat each other that way.

In the 90's there was a great Céline Dion forum organized by a french husband and wife. The atmosphere was respectful and posts were thought provoking. Céline went on hiatus in 2000 and the mood changed. Numerous compliants that her voice changed for the worst and some people went as far to say her career was over. The posts became nasty and rude and the administrators were constantly warning people to shape up or they would be banned. Someone here mentioned the word dictatorship, that was the mood on the other forum. I couldn't take the ambience and left in 2004. I found a relatively new forum named the Celine Dion Forum. It was like a breath of fresh air. Vic and Bellamy were welcoming and encouraged people to post as much as possible. Fast forward to 2011-12

Something happened to my computer and I couldn't finish my post. And I wanted to correct my grammar. It doesn't matter since you got my point.

 

I didn't think anyone remembered their names Yes, Vic and Bellamy do a great job with this forum. I wasn't inferring that banning people is effective unless someone is threatening. I miss the old members too. I haven't posted in a few years but I want to stay informed of any Céline news ,so I visit the forum on a regular basis. BTW, to the member who posted Céline will be receiving a Bambi award. Does it matter if the show caters to a 50something population or to paraphrase, 'it's a program for an old crowd'. I found the wording to be rude. I am 52 and don't view myself as old. Please think before you write.

I think the real reason why Celine didn't go in person there is because she would have to sing live and her voice isn't 100% right now. Don't get me wrong, Celine's voice is still amazing, but I think for her to go on stage and perform Whitney song live is too much pressure, and if her voice isn't perfect people are gonna compare with Whitney. I saw her tribute in Quebec for the person who got killed in the Paulie Marrois incident, and she sang well but it was not perfect. So I think Celine wanted to play it safe. So she agreed to take part of the tribute but also planned the whole time that it wasn't going to be a live performance, but would actually take her time and come up with a tribute on her own time. Rene Angelil was on TVA and said a few days before the tribute that they would show a Celine old footage of her performing Whitney, so it was the plan all along. I kind of understand where Celine is coming from, but personally I would have rathered seeing her give an emotional tribute live even if not perfect vocally, then playing it safe. But it's still nice to see her patt of the tributes. Mariah Carey didn't even singa note in her tribute to Whitney at the BET awards, she just gave an intro in person. Now if Celine doesn't even record a new version of Greatest Love of All 2012 in addition to her old recording, then it might seem a little tacky. But anyways we'll see what happens. Of course what sucks is for those who bought tickets in hope of seeing Celine, too bad that they didn't make it clear, but Rene Angelil did hint to it on tva it's on their site "Rene Angelil se confie a Levesque part 3". I'm still here! Just hardly ever post.... mainly because the atmosphere of this forum is so negative. I just use it to find out news (since the official site is worthless). I really do miss the old forum, I felt like everyone was really close there and knew nearly everyone by name! People were SO respectful of each other's opinions. I seriously miss the SCF Slayers!!! (This is Mar by the way!) It is nice to know that there are a few "old school members" lingering around here.

 

When the old "community" closed I was in college and wasn't active at all because I was just too busy with school.... I never did find out what happened, I just decided to check up on it randomly one day and it had been closed!

I'm also one of those ex members. I loved the forum at times, and I met some nice people on messanger, however, I HATED the popularity, and the negativity that happened their. I do miss the SCF slaying and the other members too.

It was obviously live (I did not attend the taping), but it wouldn't make sense to see all the performers singing live except Celine...
