wboxoffice Posted October 28, 2012 at 09:25 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 09:25 AM Lipsynching for Whitney and not showing up to the real concert either... well, this is not the best tribute. I would have rathered Celine put herself on the line and sing an emotional live song in the tribute concert, but she wanted to play it safe and submit a polished perfect performance that is lipsynched. I would have rathered non-perfect vocals but something from the heart... That being said, I'm still glad that Celine is showing Whitney so much love and I can't wait to see what she taped. Quote
fred Posted October 28, 2012 at 11:50 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 11:50 AM but then... (lol) if it makes a much better quality song, i wouldn't mind the lip synching. i will enjoy the song much more on my ipod afterwards if it was recorded in studio. To me it kinda gets ruined when it's a lipped performance. I don't listen to and appreciate STB as much as I would if it was sung live. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
DionFanAlways Posted October 28, 2012 at 11:58 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 11:58 AM The way I see it is this performance is over and done. Let's wait and see and then move on. If she didn't sing it to perfection people would be raking her over the coals (Whitney fans)!!! They were always compared to each other! I could see the comments now....How dare she ruin a classic... She thinks she can sing like Whitney....ect.ect. Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

And the crowd is the most annoying one ever!! WAYYYY too loud. I can't stand that song because of those 2 things... I erased it from my ipod long time ago Quote

riobeard11 Posted November 11, 2012 at 03:01 AM Posted November 11, 2012 at 03:01 AM (edited) Excited to see it - but I will say that I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't live because that's a signature move she does when lipping (based on this video). It doesn't bother me because she had to record the track regardless. BUT! Who knows...she has been surprising a bit lately. Edited November 11, 2012 at 03:05 AM by riobeard11 Quote

Here we can see her lip quivering demonstration properly in HQ Action. Edited November 11, 2012 at 05:36 PM by Macaronie Quote

zuv Posted November 11, 2012 at 05:56 PM Posted November 11, 2012 at 05:56 PM i wouldn't call it a "judgment" when people think the performance is lipped, we are stating a fact. There's no subjectivity at all. People are not haters for saying she's lip synching!! LMAO unless you live in denial and think she never lips in concerts and TV shows... like many youtube users think... IMO, i actually prefer this performance to be lipped, cause it will be perfect. I think what would get rid of her "signature moves" and "jaw shaking" when she lips would be to just turn off the microphone and let her actually sing a "little bit" no? Quote

wjd Posted November 11, 2012 at 06:41 PM Posted November 11, 2012 at 06:41 PM Don't care how she sings it. They must have their reasons. I for one am glad we are getting to see her perform this again with her current voice. This. I'm far from being as fanatical about her, as what some of you are - though there's no question, that I love her as an artist as much as anybody. However, I am just so pleased to see her again, somewhere other than Vegas. Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
calmar Posted November 11, 2012 at 07:40 PM Posted November 11, 2012 at 07:40 PM I've got a question for everyone who doesn't care if she's singing for real or not... Why ? Seriously, why ? She's a SINGER, not a model, her job is to SING. She gets paid MILLIONS to do that one thing. How can you not feel ripped off when she's faking her job ? And it's not like she openly says "yeah I lip sometimes". She's voluntarily faking it, more and more, while she keeps saying she doesn't. How is that honest ? "Ohhhh but we already know she can sing" - You're right, I totally agree. But that's not an excuse. I don't care how much and how well she sang in her early career, her job is to SING. You can't/don't want to anymore ? Well, I don't think it's very honest to go around and fake your job, even more so when people pay (big amounts) for that. I don't know of many bosses who'd tell their employees "ohh I know you can do the job, so you can just fake it from now on and get paid anyway". "Everyone else in the industry is doing it, so she can do it herself" - Again, how's that an excuse ? Some people steal stuff, does that make it okay for everyone else to do ? No. And not everyone lips. There are manyyyy great singers, performing many shows/years, world tours etc. who never lip a word. Of course if you're talking about Britney Spears, Kesha, and other cheap pop music like that, well yeah, they lipsync a lot, but then again, their careers aren't built around their voices, or the fact that they can sing wonderfully, or the fact that they're considered the best singer in the world. They're entertainers, it's not the same thing. "She can't sing like she did 10-15 years ago anymore" - Work around it then. Like all the, you know, other singers who sing live all the time. Lower the keys of your song, change the arrangements, whatever.... but SING them please. "No one can truly know if she's lipsyncing or not" - That's not true. Some people have better ears than others, and when you know what to look for, it can be pretty easy to know if she's singing live or not. And sadly for her, she's doing a pretty bad job at hiding it in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm not "hating", merely stating and questionning facts. I love her and I love her voice, and I think she still got a great voice despite getting older, but I get a weird feeling when I see the "best singer in the world" faking her job, while people are almost encouraging her to do so. Maybe I'm just weird... Quote

BTW, there are no ''jaw shaking'' movements in the extremely short video footage we have see so far. Just saying. lol i know, it might not be lipped at all (which i doubt) but my point was that when i say a performance is lipped, i don't mean to be offensive at all; its just an observation and i've always been totally cool with that. anyway if you noticed, i think i made what is called an oxymoron cause i said: i wouldn't call it a "judgment" when people think the performance is lipped, we are stating a fact. LOL sorry for my bad English hahaha Quote
