Me, Javito and some other members tried to say this million times and nobody has ever listened. We were critized as NON-FANS. Now when Celine has FINALLY said sth, everybody got permission to agree with it, generally. Haha..Thanx God. Better ever than never..hahahahaha..

I'm not sure what songs I don't want to see her sing anymore. They are a part of such great memories. But I think I'd have to choose TPOL and MHWGO. But still, every time I see her sing those songs, I just love it

The casual listener, the general audience, the Vegas audience, they want to hear her hits, they mostly know only her hits, they want to see her perform those hits. Now she's getting a hard time from us with all our demands, but imagine everyone who's seen the show complain "Because You Loved Me" or "My Heart Will Go On" isn't in it.

 

When I for example want to see Tina Turner, I'd also want her to sing 'Proud Mary' and 'Simply The Best', although her fans (and Tina probably too) are sick of those songs. But it's what got her famous, they're her hits. And again, I TOTALLY agree with you and would love to get rid of the songs she's been singing for ages now....but it's also time to be realistic for once.

Guys don't get your hopes up, maybe she just says she's a little bit tired of My Heart Will Go On and that's it. For example, remember the press conference from March 15, she said that, nowadays, it was not like singing it for the first time, but it was still special. Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yes, that's true too. I think there's 50% and 50% right here... but what I try to say is that maybe she should change for a time at least once in her career, and not always think in the general audience but -just for once- in her "hardcore" fans. That won't hurt anybody

 

And, I'm not sure to what extent that "general audience" wants to see her sing always those same songs, BYLM, MHWGO, TPOL etc. Are we positively sure about that? Would they throw their tickets into the bin if they realized she's singing songs from her own repertoire that are as good as her hits, but totally unknown? I don't think so! They're going there because of the voice, no matter what she sings. Would they neglect her if she didn't sing MHWGO or LCMM? It could even be another reason to see the show, they're going to see her perform songs she has never performed before, songs from her albums that are as great as her hits

 

I just know that those who don't take the risk, they'll never win. And she's not risking anything these days, nor winning anything but staying in her "comfort zone". That has been the situation for a decade, she should think maybe its time to move on and think about doing other things.

I don't think there's a problem with ANY artist singing their most popular songs in a concert set list. It's absolutely right that most casual fans would expect this. To be honest I would expect it too.

 

If we're being brutally honest for Celine this would probably amount to about 10 songs and you all know the ones they are.

 

However it's what makes up the other 50% of the set list that frustrates some I think. The apparent insistence on the use of covers and / or non-Celine songs. They have literally THOUSANDS of songs they could put into a set list to make it a true Celine Dion concert. Does anyone really prefer performances of songs such as "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" or "You'll Have To Swing It" when you could be seeing performances of (for example) "Have A Heart" or "Then You Look At Me."

I have the feeling that it will indeed be something like that... I'm pretty sure she won't list her biggest hits.

Yes, but I concentrated mostly on that part without critizing u . The reason is because nobody ever rebeled for the tracklist except some of the members, so I wanted to finish up my opinion on that issue forever now. Thats all..sorry I didnt make clear at first.

That's right. It's OK if she had kept the 5-6 classic hits in the new show, as long as she had included 10-15 of her OWN original songs and not covers But she didn't Instead they brought the less "Céline" show I think she's ever done, no matter how "Celine" they say it is More than the half of the program is totally unrelated to what we thought it was her music.

I know Lindsey, maybe it's the show she wanted to do for herself, but what about the public? And what about the fans? What about the songs that are engraved in their brains for decades, do we slam the door to them like they've never existed? Because I feel that's what they've done. We don't know Céline for "How Do I Keep The Music Playing", "Mr Paganini", "At Seventeen" or "Lullaby", we know her for albums like The Colour of my Love, Celine Dion, Falling Into You or A New Day Has Come. Those are the songs in our heads, and that we've been playing in our stereos all the way Do we keep ignoring them, for how long? That's not "Céline" to me, it may be "Céline" to her.
