"The Colour of My Love" Tour - Official Topic

Was it the FIRST? I just rewatched the performance on Nul Part Ailleurs, and that might be the first technically. The description says it aired "16 March 1995"

You remember I wrote "first time on stage" and "very first interpretation in a concert", right ?

That was precisely to avoid to remind people about the live performances of the song on TV and focus on the fact that this Birmingham concert was the very first one of her entire career to include "Pour que tu m'aimes Encore" (with soooooooo many others to come after that ! Did she have any idea of that at the time ?!)

the Taratata band sound like a cheap student band

That's funny because the band that played with Céline for the show that day...was formed by the musicians (and back up singers) that played for the album in studio, a few months earlier !

What happened to them in those months because… well as I said it just wasn’t nearly as good.

Does anyone know the name of the stylist on the Tour, who was responsible for the horrible Meat Loaf outfit?

No I have no idea who it is, it is almost comparable to the outfit she had at the beginning of A New Day

The 90s had that horrible women's business suit look in female fashion that has not aged well at all. The biggest question is what in the hell happened to her dress that she wore in the last part of the TV special. It looks like it's falling apart. Every time I watch it I try to figure it out! It looked like she was attacked by rabid wolves. Edited by Alex_Incognito

What the heck were they thinking about the Meat Loaf outfit? The album photoshoot was classy and sexy. I never understood that.

At least by the end of the tour it was a lot more streamlined and looked a lot more power-suit rather than gothic Liberace

Now I understand that Brunei was simply the same way her and Terry had already performed the song, with her opening the song taking the extra verse.

I imagine when choosing her setlist for Brunei's fully live show she found re-including WIFIL an easier choice for time filling over a DOL or TLYM. While WIFIL may of been dropped for FIY tour, this Birmingham show gives us insight that it was easy enough to bring back on basis she had already done it with Terry.

Lol pointless rambles i know..

More than the outfit, the look she had with short blonde hair was horrible

WIFIL was included in the North American, Australian and Asian setlist of the FIY tour

Maybe so, but was it actually if you investigate? This tour has more than 6 legs. The 2nd leg, North america, gives us our earliest bootleg midway thru (jones Beach) and there is no "When i fall in love"

Unfortunately we still have only two recordings with terry. Birmingham and Brunei.

Im very curious to know more on when this song precisely was dropped. Yes, wiki does say australia/asia/North america the song was performed but at the very least if it was dropped midway leg 2 NA than the asia part later on can certainly be scratched. Starting the tour out with WIFIL in Australia is still a possibility however, and so is it being performed in NA at every show prior to Jones beach.

Unfortunately setlists back then are still just generalized, even on wiki. Specifics of all the drops and swaps are interesting to discuss but hard to confirm. Even the Birmingham setlist should've had "Unison" if Wikipedia setlist were to be believed. And actually, since we fortunately have 30 seconds of footage of the december 94 shows in tokyo that show Unison we are able to infer that Unison was either last performed that night in asia or for the one show in february. Either way, unison was dropped before the final leg of tcoml tour.

Well I figured it was worth pointing out she had already performed the song live on stage with a band. Those very first performances are always so exciting.

And maybe it’s equally apt to point out this was her first time using the playback track for TPOL, which also followed her throughout her career :giggle:

So as for WIFIL maybe it was dropped early maybe it was performed in the early Australian dates then it was removed and it was revived in Brunei because since it was an all live show WIFIL is much easier to sing than DOL and TLYM.

As for Unison I think the last time she sang it was in a concert in West Palm in February 1995 because then for the last leg of the TCOML tour I think it was replaced by PQTME.

Prince also wore clothes like that… not just Meatloaf

I don't think it was the first time that TPOL was lip-synched, I think it was lipped already at the beginning of the tour because the 1994 Paris taped show already has the TPOL track lip-synched

Thanks, I totally forgot about that!

All these dates are swirling in my head… so did she have overlapping tours for DCP/TCOML and TCOML/D’eux??

The promotion of the DCP album took place from 1992 to 1993 with the Celine Dion Tour then the TCOML tour started in 1994 and ended in May 1995, in September 1995 the D'eux tour started

So the L’Olympia engagement was like a mini-tour?

No, “A L'Olympia” was part of the TCOML tour because they were the dates in Paris in 1994, if I remember correctly they were 3 dates in September 1994 at L'Olympia in Paris

What is your favourite outfit(hair and dress) from Celine in a live performance?

1999 straight hair….MHWGO Pink dress 1999. She looked her best late 1991-1992 with the dark hair and sexy looks…before she added 20 yrs to herself during the TCOML era. Wish she kept her natural dark hair.

I think she looked amazing with the short curly brown hair and the sexy dress on the TCOML-album cover❤️, but the Tour outfit was meh. And yes, the peak of her beauty was in 1999.

As for the hair I loved her curly hair in late 1998 early 1999, as for the dress for me the most beautiful dress Celine has ever worn is a dress she wore in 2011/2014 when she sang Lullaby and the Reason, for me that dress was really beautiful

She looked amazing in this TV special (like on the TCOML-album cover). This dress should have been the Tour outfit  .

wow, she was constantly busy in the 90s. That must have been her most intense decade. Not only was she putting out one album after another, she was also constantly touring all over the world. That´s impressive! No wonder she wanted to take a long break in 1999 and agreed to do Vegas in order to have some sort of stability and "normal life". Edited by ryba

while I think that the photoshoot is very sexy, I think that this look live makes her look like a very mature woman, and she was only in her 20s! I perfer her long hair all the way.
