Andy Man Posted November 24, 2012 at 04:26 PM Posted November 24, 2012 at 04:26 PM (edited) Hey all - have not posted here in a long, long time. But I have been following off and on. Let me just say, that the new album is incredible. Some great original music, amazing performances by Celine, and some songs are just stunning. It occurred to me as I was listening to it the other day that it is another French album that proves the biggest difference between Celine's work in English and French (in my opinion): Her French albums are actual ALBUMS - meant to be listened to as a whole. Don't get me wrong, she has made some incredible work in English. The production of Falling Into You is amazing...and there are any number of selected tracks on each of her English albums that are amazing. But I always get the impression on her English work that she is releasing a collection of songs - not necessarily meant to be listened to together. However, her french albums (and this is especially true if you speak the language) always have a message or consistency to them. There are common threads and themes in each of her French albums that I don't think exist in her English work (with some exceptions - Miracle, of course, and to some extent A New Day Has Come). Celine sets out to make "whole" albums in French and that is why I have always been a greater fan of her French work than her English. Don't get me wrong, she has some fantastic albums in English. But at the end of the day when it comes to albums that are collective pieces of work, her French output is miles ahead of her English. Sans Attendre is yet another French album that has a very specific focus in terms of content and style. Another job well done by Celine and her French team. mike_z Posted November 27, 2012 at 06:03 PM Posted November 27, 2012 at 06:03 PM I don't know If anyone posted this, from yesterday, they even mention the possibility of "QPVSA" being the third single http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Celine-Dion/news-83062.html Céline Dion : son nouvel album "Sans attendre" (déjà) certifié triple disque de platineCéline Dion a rassemblé près de 5 millions de téléspectateurs samedi dernier pour l'émission "Le Grand Show", organisée à l'occasion de la sortie de son album "Sans attendre". Quote

QPVSA is one of the songs I don't really like, but I was earlier telling my hubby what you said about it. I absolutely adore "Les Jours Comme Ça" but I know they won't release a Bonus Track as a single. And, of course, I know that the songs I like will not always become singles. 1 Quote

chocolatechip15 Posted November 28, 2012 at 01:58 AM Posted November 28, 2012 at 01:58 AM My review of the album, a little late: First, I have to say I LOVE it. I agree with Rene that it's the best since D'Eux . . .it's coherent, intimate, her voice is gorgeous, it's very emotional but the singing is restrained -- that is, the intensity of her emotion comes through beautifully without anything approaching screaming or even the loud passion of a power ballad (on most tracks). It's a beautiful album full of amazing songs. I'm actually really glad they postponed the English album, to let this gem of an album shine on its own. Une Chance Qu'On Sa-- I love everything about it; definitely one of my new favorite Celine songs . . . Love the melody, love the way Celine sings it -- with urgency and passion, but without overdoing it . . .love the warmth of Ferland's voice and the chemistry between them - both vocally and the affection you see between them every time they're onstage together . .and I love, love, love the message of this song. It's deceptively simple, but really about a more mature kind of love . .the idea that we have *each other* . . .not just that I love you so much, you're so great, I'd do anything for you -- but that "I have you AND you have me . we have each other. . .it's a meeting of equals; two adults in an relationship who are there for each other. -- so simple and beautiful (also why it works so beautifully as a duet - the idea of two equals together, loving each other). And I love that "une chance qu'on s'a" was an expression Celine and Rene always said to each other. Celle qui m'a tout appris -- another true gem. Another gorgeous melody, and the emotion in Celine's voice is incredible. The lyrics are so touching and bittersweet - and relatable by anyone who's had parents grow older -- that idea that - even though she may feel lost herself, the roles are reversed today, and she is watching over/taking care of the one who taught her everything. I think the most amazing part is where she sings "Je sait qu'elle suit dans la lumiere/Le chemin trace par mon pere" ("I know she's follwing in the light/the path traced by my father" Celine's voice trembles as she sings the "par mon pere" and it is just incredibly touching and beautiful. Je N'ai Pas Besoin D'Amour -- I know Celine loves this song, and I see why . .I love the poetry of the lyric. . Love the emotion -- again restrained but still quite intense . . .love especially the intensity and joy in her voice at "un petit, petit bonehur immense . .un beau cadeau de l'existence" . and i adore the live version from Tout le monde en Parle. The only thing I only don't like about is the ending, which feels too abrupt to me, as though it doesn't go with the rest of the song . . . Les Petit Pieds de Lea . . Beautiful and heartbreaking . .with a melody so approrpiate to the subject . .a lullabye but much sadder. I enjoy most of the other songs except Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour (I know, I'm the only one; everyone else loves it, but I don't care for the sound of it; not a big rock fan; usually skip it when I listen); and Que Toi Au Monde (I don't care for a lot of the Plamondon stuff; I know he's a lyricist and not a composer, but most of the melodies for his songs feel very repetitive and not that interesting or beautiful. But the emotion in her voice on this track is -- again --beautiful in that incredible restrained but passionate mood that pervades this album.) Overall, I LOVE it. One of my favorite Celine albums . .and in a way, it's a little hard to go back to the English albums after listening to an album like this . . makes the English albums feel shallower and less intimate . . 2 Quote
