That review from The Netherlands is really very good.

You are right about todays performance Jav. I would love if Celine could do maybe the French special for this album using just Mego on piano. It really helps to bring out the emotions in the songs.

nah that would be too much piano IMO... tho stripped down it would work very well... and you'd definitly need an accordion on La Mer Et L'enfant ;)

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

I'm not talking about the whole album though bud, just the 4-5 songs of a special. But yeah, they could throw in a few things like the accordion if and when required, but keep it simple and... "Frenchy".

We are well overdue a Céline / Mégo unplugged. And this album would suit it very well.

I think the comments about her voice in the Metropolis concert inmediately before she went to perform helped also. The journalists maybe put her under pressure with the "and how's your voice tonight?" question :giggle:

Sorry, I mean "Une chance qu'on s'a". Jean Pierre gave them an english version too, hopefully she records it!

That's also new for me, I didn't know it.

I refer to "Moi quand je pleure" for example... I love it to bits. I find those hummings she does with the voice before each chorus just delicious

I love the humming, too! Actually, I just love the whole melody. ^_^

Alex, you're not alone in your feelings for "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour." I think it's beautiful. I remember hearing the little preview a couple months ago and getting this gut feeling that it was going to be a great song!

Am I the only one who is a little disspointed with this album so far? :( Maybe I should listen to it some more...I do want to really like it but I just immediatly loved alot of her other french albums but this one I only like maybe a few of the songs (less than half)

I didn't like five of the songs and I hate the artwork. But, I still like the album.

I want a full album written by Jean Pierre Ferland so bad :in_love: Today's video was just amazing, her voice gets better when she is only followed by a piano.

+1!!!!! Yes I really didn't think I would like either of Ferland's songs from the previews... but they're quickly turning into my favorites from the album. She sings them so beautifully and her voice is so raw especially in JNPBDA. I would LOVE more songs from these two

I got the deluxe album last week, ordered it from the Boutique. I like the packaging, it's cute. I haven't listened to it enough but my initial opinion is that I like D'Elles much better. I don't know French, so I can only go by her voice & the music. I hope it's a big hit in French speaking countries!!!

Yeah, it was as if they said "show us what you've got tonight if you dare", and so she delivered a great vocal performance ^_^

Cant Stop listening to it, especially Parler a mon pere, le miracle, Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour, si je n'ai rien de toi, les petits pieds de lea, une chance qu'on s'a, les jours comme ça and qui peut vivre sans amour! Oh Celine! I can always count on you to put out a great album

I found it hard to decide which is my favourite song from this album but I'd say 'Si je n'ai rien da toi' is one I can really relate to. There's someone I love so much that life seems to have no meaning to me without him.

I finally got the cd this morning. I listened it two times now so I thought to write about my impressions.

I was waiting very long time to hear some new music from Céline (like we all did). I'm a fan 17 years now and I always had this extra admiration for her french music. "D'eux" is the album that made me a fan and (in my opinion) it will probably stay the best album she did in her career.

Concerning "Sans attendre"… my impressions are actually little bit mixed. I love the lyrics ,which are very deep, and Céline's voice. Her pronunciation is much better and her interpretations are simply amazing!!! But listening the album I got the feeling that I miss something. I think the album in general lacks of strong melodies (with some exceptions) and it yearns for more pop, more strength, more… something… (if you understand). None of them really attracted my attention like before when I was listening her new albums. I think I should let it grow in me. I put my review in three categories.

+ the songs I like:

-Parler à mon père – Nice song, nothing more, nothing less… I love the part "Je voudrais partir avec toi…" since the first time I heard it. I introduces well the the rest of the album. Obvious single choice.

-Le miracle – Nice melody and children's choir go very well together. It's a cute song that doesn't pretend to be a hit, but it stays in your head. Although it's not a single material IMO.

-Qui peut vivre sans amour? – After reading your reviews I was excpecting and hoping for a big rock song with lot of electric guitar riffs. It's actually not like that, but I'm not disappointed. It's dark and I like it… It gives some character to the album.

-Celle qui m'a tout appris – One of my favorites. A great classic Céline song. Good melody above all.

-Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour – beautiful lyrics, beautiful melody. Only (as some of you stated) I wish this beautiful refrain lasts little bit longer.

-Si je n'ai rien de toi – another great song. Céline's interpretation is awesome.

-Les petits pieds de Léa – Very nice melody goes so beautifully with those sad lyrics. This is a nice one.

-Les jour comme ça – Is this really a bonus track? C'mon.. this should have been a single. One of the best on the album. Very typical Céline's french song. Something like "Le temps qui compte". It gives to the album that pop sound and freshness that really lacks on this album. It's not s masterpiece, but it's good.

0 - The songs that I find "okay", but I will skip them while listening the album:

-Une chance qu'on s'a – it is a very nice song. I liked it when I heard in on „Céline sur les Plaines“. I put this song into this category because I will probably skip it while listening the album.

-Tant de temps – I will like this song after I listen to it more times. Probably next time when I'll be in Paris resting by the Seine from a long walk through the city. Perfect chilling.

-Ne me quitte pas – beautiful remake of Jacques Brel's classic. Céline did it well especially in the end. This is one of numerous covers of this song. I will skip it because I will rather listen the original.

- Not really my thing:

-L'amour peut prendre froid – simply average song.

-Attendre – Great lyrics, good rhytme, bad melody. I was disappointed because I was expecting much more after reading your positive reviews. It starts good, but then it becomes boring. Too bad…

-La mer et l'enfant – Nice lyrics again, boring song… I'll skip it.

-Moi quand je pleure – Interesting attempt to make something original. It didn't impress me in the end. Only the end of the song sounds interesting.

-Que toi au monde - dramatic lyrics, dramatic melody, but all in all a big nothing. This song takes you nowhere.

Maybe after few months my review would be different. But this is my first impression.

Now I'm ready for the third listening…

Cheers!

I think this is one of the most solid and strong albums in Céline's entire discography, and that's one of the main reasons why I love it!! But, at the same time, I think it has a lot of different colors inside. For example:

Songs about Céline, the little girl from Charlemagne, and her family:

*Moi Quand Je Pleure => This song defines the emotional side of Céline, a woman who cries so easily when she sees something beautiful that touches her. She has always been like that and still remains that way, that's why this song reminds me a little bit to On Ne Change Pas.

*La Mer et L'enfant => An intimate song that talks about the strong link between a mother and her child.

*Parler à mon Père => Obviously, it's related to Céline's desire to talk to her father, who passed away in 2003.

*Celle Qui M'a Tout Appris => A sublime tribute to Céline's mother and a way for her fans to thank our mothers (and grandmothers), who always gave us all their support and affection.

*Le Miracle => Céline loves life and that is something clear through this song, in which she sings about the miracles of everyday's life: the sun, the water, the wind...

*Les Petit Pieds de Léa => Another really intimate and personal song about the terrible experience Céline went through back in 2010 when she lost her baby.

*Ne Me Quitte Pas => She has owned this song since the Vegas show. I'm glad René and the production team pushed her to sing it. Now we have a stunning studio version that comes close to Jacques Brel's one!

Songs that showcase a new and different side of Céline's musical side:

*Attendre: A track that features very poetic lyrics and a new musical style, something different to what she has us used to.

*Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour?: No words to describe how much I love this song, the voice, the electric guitar... Everything! It's such a rare gift to see Céline mentioning all the aspects of love and not only the good ones.

*Si Je N'ai Rien De Toi: I love the things she does with her voice on this song, very surprising. And the arrangements are also amazing!

*Les Jours Comme Ça: Very up-lifting song that reminds me to Right In Front Of You and some other stuff from ANDHC! This is a song that has a big potential.

Really passioned and dramatic songs that can become BIG hits:

*Je N'ai Pas Besoin D'amour: A wonderful gift from Jean-Pierre Ferland, again it's so rare to hear Céline saying that she doesn't need love, but, at the end, like everybody, she realizes that she actually needs it.

*Que Toi Au Monde: Luc Plamondon, another master. I hope Céline takes advantage of the powerful lyrics of this song for her future French concerts.

To me, the duets are on another league, specially the one with Johnny Hallyday!

I just learnt that the album debuted at #1 in France! This is historic, I hope René and the team don't let this success go by because she hasn't had such a well-received French release since S'il Suffisait D'aimer!

The French media is hardly talking about celine, Le Figaro, who has spoken in so entrevisats Céline speaks of his mother and say that the album is not good, even with all this negative criticism, I read that Céline already sold 100 000 copies new cd in France. Read below.

Since you are in Canada, it shouldn't be that difficult to get a copy...

I don't know where you ordered from, but I would give them a call.

Do we have any details about Celine's promotion schedule during her upcoming stay in France? (apart from the three TV shows prepared by France 2, France 3 and NJR12) :hmm:

Are there any other TV programmes she'll be on?

Music Today usually handles the merchandise on Celine's website. You can log into the boutique and check the status of you order. Send them an e-mail, or call them. The info should be at the bottom of the screen. I've ordered many times from her website, and I've always received everything in a timely manner.

I pre-ordered my "Sans Attendre" CD from the website, and it arrived right when it was supposed to. I was able to track it, and the tracking info was accurate. I even got an e-mail letting me know that it had shipped. I'm sure that you'll receive your CD very soon!!

There is something I'd really like to know. Do the authors and composers work together on a song or each individually?

Because sometimes I have this feeling that on lot of songs the melody doesn't fit the lyrics. They don't go well together.

It's so different from the work of Céline and Jean-Jacques Goldman who was both author and composer most of the time.

All those songs that he made seemed perfect. Lyrics and the music were really integrated to each other. This was my problem

with "D'elles" album... and now again with some songs on "Sans attendre".

Sorry, I mean "Une chance qu'on s'a". Jean Pierre gave them an english version too, hopefully she records it!

This is the English version of L'amour peut prendre froid.

Overall, another great effort from Celine. At times it sounds like a concept album, but there are some traditional songs thrown in there to mix it up. I really love it though and there are just a couple I will skip almost every time. She uses her voice in many different ways and sounds like she's really making an effort to sing in different ways and use her voice differently.

Parler à mon père - I liked this song from the first time I heard it and when you listen to it in context with the entire album, it makes more sense and fits even better. It's restrained and I think we were all surprised and waiting for high notes, but they don't come. It's repetitive, but I do enjoy the song and I like her vocals.

Le miracle - I wasn't sure about this song at first. It sounds a bit hoakey with the child background. Definitely a little whimsical. Her vocals are great though and the song growns on me. I enjoy it at this point. I like that it's different though, I appreciate that part even if I find it a little odd.

Qui peut vivre sans amour? - I listened to this song when it leaked on Facebook and didn't like it. I didn't like how her voice sounded strained. It reminded me of Si j'étais quelqu'un from D'elles. She sounds a little screamy, a little strainy, but when album came out and I listened do it, it sounded like a different song from the one I heard. Vocals were still strained and screamy, but the arrangment of the song is great. I really like this one, it's dark and a bit edgy. I like her backing vocals at the end.

L'amour peut prendre froid - This one is getting mixed reviews. Count me in the pile that adore it. The melody is gorgeous, her vocals are gorgeous, I just adore this song from beginning to end. I think Johnny sounds like a piece of crap though unfortunately. Sounds like he phoned this one in. Doesn't ruin the song though, I love it so much.

Attendre - This one is still a grower. I don't find the melody very pleasant. Her vocals are nice, and I like how it kind of builds and instensifies as the song progresses. I'm warming up to it. I don't skip it at this point.

Une chance qu'on s'a - I've always liked this song when they've performed it live over the years. The studio version is good. Her vocals are wonderful, but there's just not enough of her. He sounds like he's dead and they're using a machine to croak the vocals out of his throat. I just think it's (his voice) horrific, but it's a sweet song. I'd rather listen to a live version.

La mer et l'enfant - This song is kind of odd and boring. I like the twist on lyrics that apparently this song presents (mother, sea) but there isn't much to say. It's quite boring. Her vocals are nice, nothing special I don't think.

Moi quand je pleure - Definitely one of my favorites! I adore this song. I love everything about it, the vocal, the arrangement, it's fun, and light, and just so happy even though it's about crying. I love the little hums she does before she chorus like some have pointed out (hey, it's the little things in life). I'm so happy she did a song like this. It sounds circus-y but in a good way. Love it.

Celle qui m'a tout appris - One of the more "traditional" pop songs on the album. I really like this one. Her voice sounds great and I love the melody. I love how her voice goes kind of flat on the chorus belts...hard to describe, hopefully you know what I mean. It's on purpose I believe.

Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour - Sorry to burst bubbles, but this song is boring. I don't find it appealing like others do. There's 2 parts that are even really pretty and the rest of the song is kind of weird the way it's arranged. Just when you think it's going in one direction, she changes and the song sounds different. I just think it's totally boring and her vocals are boring. I know what people mean about her "croaking" some of the lines (maybe she's trying to mimick Jean Pierre's vocal style which sounds like he's croaking everything he sings), and I agree she does that, but it doesn't bother me as much as the fact that the entire song is just boring. Her recent live version is a million times better.

Si je n'ai rien de toi - Possibly the best song on the album for me. It's dark, and interesting, her vocals are fantastic, and the way she phrases the end of each line is stunning. I just love everything about it. The scream at the end is awesome. Can't say enough great things about this one.

Que toi au monde - I love this song! It's stunning in every way. I love everything about it, the arrangement, her vocals, her phrasing, she sounds sweet and sincere. I just love it.

Tant de temps - BORING. Skip it every time, it's in competition with Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered, as the most boring song she's ever recorded in her entire career and I can't listen to it all the way through at once. Her voice is wonderful, but I just don't like anything about the rest of the song.

Les petits pieds de Léa - Another of the best songs on the album. Her voice is stunning, I just love everything about the song. It's beautiful and she sounds so clear and relaxed. I'm really happy she recorded this one. It definitely fits the album.

Ne me quitte pas - I've always loved this song, and the recorded version certainly does the song justice. She sounds amazing. Some of the other songs she's recorded in the past after putting them in shows turn out bad (see Miracle recordings) but this one is definitely not in that group. Love it.

Les jours comme ça - This one is okay. Another of the more traditional pop songs we have. I like it. She sounds a little funny at some parts, but I won't complain. I tend to skip it just to get to the beginning of the album again.
