As I titled my review, what an immense happiness this album makes me feel. Celine is back, and in full form. I must say, this album was almost worth the wait. I confess, for the last year or so I questioned Celine's artistic development; she seemed to be going nowhere except on stage in Vegas. This album proves otherwise as I proudly place it next to her other releases. This album really demonstrates her growth as a singer and as an artist. The material is nothing short of sublime. It is not perfect, but it is an œuvre that deserves special attention. On a personal note, this album means a lot to me because it's her second studio release where I can understand every word from the moment I hear it. I must thank Celine for helping me find the path to my career. Without her songs in French, I would never have learned this language and made it my career. I started learning French right before 1 Fille & 4 Types was released, so I have a feeling of coming full circle. I will comment first on the songs that didn't do much for me, working my way to the songs that touched me the most. Celle qui m'a tout appris does nothing for me. Most likely due to the fact that I cannot relate to it (as with the entire Miracle album). That said, it is nicely done. It's just not a tracks I'll be going back for over and over. The duets I enjoyed very much. I enjoyed Une chance qu'on s'a very, very much. I adored their performance on Sur les Plaines and must say that this duet is fantastic. The song choice for her and Johnny's duet. L'amour peut prendre froid didn't do much for me. I love the fact that they finally have a record together, but I wish they could have found something better to sing. Like him or not, their voices work very, very well together. They are 2 Francophone legends. The duet with Henri Salvador, Tant de temps, is beautiful! Finally! We have Celine singing this style of music. It is timeless and will age perfectly on the album. Parler à mon père has grown on me. I still feel it wasn't the best first single choice for the album. I really do enjoy Le miracle and I feel it's a good, solid song. The meaning really makes me think of Celine, and you feel that she believes every word. Qui peut vivre sans amour is a great third track on the album. The tempo is great and the lyrics are as well. Almost as if she's channeling her Dion chante Plamondon days. La mer et l'enfant and Moi quand je pleure are gorgeous. You can close your eyes and pretend you're at a cafe in the Canal Saint Martin area of Paris. They feel very French and it's nice to have such things in her catalog. That being said, Ne me quitte pas is a diamond in the abum. We have Celine singing French standards and at her vocal peak. The shame of her recording so little these days is that fact that we aren't getting songs like these, songs that are meant for her to sing in her prime. I hope her team sees this, and I want them to know how grateful I am for these songs. The latter part of my review I reserve for the 3 songs that I love the most. First of all, Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour is a masterpiece. Wow. It touched me deeply. I much prefer her performance of the song on her TV special as I feel she mastered the song better by then. I'd love to get a "live" version of this some day for her to redo her vocals. The lyrics are so touching that they actually bring tears to my eyes. Celine acknowledges that she has found le grand amour and we hope for the same things one day as well. Les petits pieds de Léa is also a masterpiece, but in a different way. This song tugs at your heartstrings and covers a topic that is rarely discussed in music. It's so great that she brings this subject into the light of day. Her vocals are sublime, the musical arrangement is just as brilliant. This really is a highlight on the album but a song that's almost hard to listen to. Que toi au monde might be the best song on the album. How good does it feel to have Dion back with Plamondon? This song is not the sequal to L'amour existe encore. It's another story all together; and a story that many people can relate to. I'm still very impressed by it. Overall this album is wonderful. Where do I place it among her French work? That's hard to day. It's a totally different product than her other French albums. What I will say, however, is that I like the direction her Francophone career is moving to. The evolution is a process, but it yields amazing things. I didn't think Celine could beat D'elles, but Sans attendre gives D'elles a run for its money! Merci, Celine! Keep up the good work! I love Attendre. "Waiting" reminds me a lot of myself. We wait so much for this or for that to happen, we keep on waiting,but never risking too much, like she says in the song, we should do this more! But finally, waiting for that kind of love in which we understand each otherwithout saying a word -- which is the true love! Like a surprise in the song! I love when it says it's time to DISOBEY, because it reminds me of PASSION when we are in love, when there isn't much time to do anything cause you're so happyyou feel it's not gonna last enough to live it! For me is the best of the album and it was worth the whole wait! I don't know if this will everrr be a single, but it's a very special song for me!
