No, nothing about it. Cause it's top secret. They wont reveal who is gonna sing, and which song before the opening ceremony. And that's why I don't really believe on those reports said they announced Celine will perform there, cause no way they would "announce" it.

Yes. but the website is not always accurate I believe, especially when it's outside the US.

Oh well, I think the above site simply got that info from the Wikipedia site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Summer_Olympics). As we all know, we could never believe everything that is written up on Wikipedia, anybody could write anything and put it up on wikipedia.

 

First the NY post article, then the Las Vegas article, it does cause some suspicion. Could it be that both of these reporters also got their info from the wikipedia page?

Aside from that, a DJ in HK also mentioned few days ago that there are rumours that Celine will be participating at the opening ceremony.

 

I could understand why Francine would still deny it, if, and I repeat, IF Celine is really performing at the opening ceremony. As it should be a top secret, if Francine answers with "I can't comment on that," everybody will then take that as a "Yes", otherwise, she would simply say "No."

 

As much as I hope to see Celine at the opening ceremony, there is still one thing that kinda makes me think that she will not be participating. Cuz back in 1996, Celine was notified by the committee 5 months ahead before the Olympic opening ceremony. So I assume this time, if she is really performing there, she would have been notified few months ago already. And if that really did happen, she wouldn't have booked the Today Show/Early show appearances. Unless someone called in sick, and they asked Celine at the very last minute.

 

Oh well, it's exciting, and we'll see. Hope to see her there, but even if she won't, I know I will still have a great way watching the opening ceremony on TV.

As Bellamy has said, Chinese media are reporting that Sarah Brightman has arrived in Beijing, and there are even some reports saying that her staff will go and check out the sound system. If everything is all set, and Sarah will go and rehearse.

Another article mentions that the assistant producer of the opening ceremony has confirmed earlier that the theme song will be performed by 1 male and 1 female singer together. So it seems very likely that Sarah Brightman will be it.

Can't they read it was about Celine wanted to dedicate a song to the Olympics during her concert in Beijing, which was canceled. It's not about Celine woudl sing the theme song.

are you serious? her team is not supposed to tell anything to anyone. Maybe To CBS and NBC but for sure not to her fans! come on let's be realistic! We spoke to her team and they told us she canceled it for her personal schedule etc etc. Who we are to know all the details?

At least they announced it, not like celinedion.com pretending nothing happened is the reason of it's not gonna happen. I think many fans would prefer them announced the show, then announce it's canceled than pretend there's nothing going on.
